Radogast's Hi-Brix Basement Grow - New Location - New Soil - New Experiences

How's this picture? That DDA I harvested was so dark I still can't believe it.

Thats an extremely happy cookie. I suppose I would have that same expression if a nug like that was presented to me. Good show!

After I asked, I somehow expected Dark Devil Auto would appear. Thanks for this picture. I don't remember seeing it :)

Can I share my first grow?

*sigh*. It was a glorious grow, no? Such unexpected fun. Hard to believe my only purpose in coming here was to document that grow. :laughtwo:

Rad.... I'm impressed as hell. Great set-up. I can't wait to see what you do with the kit. :slide: Ahhhhhh...... Now the world feels right again. Oh yeah... The smudging report was inspirational. Thanks for that. :hugs:

I'll try to be quiet here, and do more watching. So good to have found you.

I had forgotten how pretty your first grow was. Well done!

Not too long ago I purchased a fairly broad variety of seeds. I tried several methods of germination... peat pucks, paper towels, water alone.... all the standards. They all failed. I started germinating them in damp perlite and immediately went from 0% success to 100%. After germinating many seeds from that order now, I'm still at 100% germinating in perlite.

2cents.

I'm at 75% germinatiion in soil this thread with a likelyhood that the seed I dug up and set in water was split open (not viable) before I planted it.

IMO, It's not the methods, it's the seed. BUt I'll wait a couple of days to be sure

Good morning, Rado! Just popping in your check things out.

Nothing to see here. Over on your thread you have flowering girls :)

16 days since seeds were planted

My veg table.

I'm expecting to water these seedlings sometime this week, the first watering after planting. Now the Hi-Brix system questions start :hmmmm:

Is it too soon to start them on the Growth Energy?

Should I be starting the weekly Brix foliar?
- - How much would I mix up for such little plants?
- - Is the overspray sticky or messy?

The first true leaves are growing to a larger size than I am used to seeing

Borderliner (not pictured) The seed has a little something that might be the beginning of a tail, but it might just be my imagination :)

:byebye:

When I saw 8 pages I thought I was going to be late to the party, but yay, I'm subbing in while they're still seedlings! Come on Borderliner. You can do it! :cheertwo:

Nothing late - I just opened this thread up early in case I had important questions about soil or room setup.

Then I got lazy and just stuck a table inside a basement room :)

Now the Hi-Brix system questions start :hmmmm:

Is it too soon to start them on the Growth Energy? Yes....I like to wait a bit before using any drenches. A bit of water and perhaps a 1/4 dose of Transplant is in order for the next watering. That watering should take you a few days out. THEN you can do a growth energy drench.

Should I be starting the weekly Brix foliar? No....wait till you have 5 sets of leaves.
- - How much would I mix up for such little plants? I'd use about 1/4 oz Transplant in 2 gallons of water and dunk each pot.
- - Is the overspray sticky or messy? Yes and no. If you spray it on your nice white shirt it will be messy. If it gets on your tabletop it will be sticky....but around the grow room it ain't no big deal.

I germinate in peat pellets inside a dome with a heat mat under... always 100% germination... after that well hey... it's mother nature, I have no control! This last round I ended up 19 of 20 to veg plants ..... a few are runts.

I'm looking at a veg room full right now. ready for a round of autos .. SS has me motivated with the DD. Good job there SS - thats some mighty fine buddage! :Namaste::high-five:

Newb... errr never tried Doc's HB kit.. What's a "dunk each pot" mean?? Sorry if that's a simple question, just curious.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but instead of watering from the top, they take the pot and place it in a large container of water. I believe it provides a more thorough watering, and I read when they remove the pot from the water it pulls more oxygen into the soil. I'd love to try it with my smaller pots but am too lazy. :laughtwo:

Nailed it. I use a small bucket to dunk my 1gal pots. I set the pot into the bucket and I make sure the water level is below the top of soil. I let the pot soak up the water and then raise the pot and tip it left, right, front, and back to allow drainage/oxygen to roots.

During flower, with larger pots, dunking becomes tough so we typically use trays/saucers under the pots. At least

Thats what I was thinking and can certainly give that a full on thumbs up :thumb: I've been using an AutoPot system for watering and that's exactly how it works. The pots sit in water with a carburetor keeping the water at a specific level. Watering from the ground up.

It works great ... for me tho all totally automated but the watering from the bottom up is the deal. I'm a convert.. my last run was water only start to finish. Best harvest so far...

Yep. Gaffle's description is exactly what I meant by "Dunk each pot." It is by far and away the best method of watering in veg, especially if you let the containers get bone dry between dunks. You get strong stems, tight internodes and better calyx/leaf ratio.
