Quix's First Auto Grow Featuring Blue Mammoth - LA Diva & Afghan Kush Ryder

Re: Quix's First Auto Grow Featuring Blue Mammoth, LA Diva and Afghan Kush Ryder

Hey brother :high-five:

Fantastic job on the construction!! A tote within a tote... it

So selfish of me, didn't notice that you were having a new one. I wish you all happiness, joy and comfort.

So funny you said that about neighbours because I was very medicated and couldn't tell which was the right way to spell it? lol:smokin2:RoorRip

I don't live in the UK but I do have some family there :) I love it very much. I am from a place called Kenata, aka Canada lol

Hmmmm on a side note I see you said 88F at 100% wattage hey? I'm sure we can get that down to the high 70's. I know you've already cut your holes but I didn't know the exact spot where it would go. Is there any chance you could put that tote on it's side and cut a hole through that shelf? Even without cutting a hole, I think if you lay it on it's side plus switching sides it should help some with heat. I'm not an Hvac specialist but my good friend is and he always says to keep the ducting as short, and straight as possible as any bends cut cfm's down dramatically. You've already done a great job with all this man keep it up!!:Namaste:

I got some free time so I sketched up what I'm talking about :smokin2: Hope you don't mind brother. If you do just let me know....

GREAT SEEING YOU AGAIN!
GREAT SEEING YOU AGAIN![/QUOTE] SEEEEEESKOOOOOO!:high-five:
Welcome Bro-sis, good to see you as well, hope you'll be around
Sheer genius on the set up brother Quix. I know it was trouble, but you did it! :bravo:
Thank you OMM, but most of the credit goes to Urban Grower, he's the one who suggested it. I just put my own twist on it. It's so simple, I can't believe I didn't think of something like this sooner!

Looks good Quix. Congrats again on the new addition to the family.
Thanks so much HMG! It's going to make life just a bit more interesting!
Hope you are well my friend:Namaste:

Oh wow man, no I don't mind at all. Rather, I'm flattered that you'd take the time to draw that up for me, truly appreciated my friend, thank you:Namaste:

I do know that with each turn, and every foot of flexible ducting you will reduce CFMs. The reason I left so much on there is to allow the light to be lowered once the plants are at floor level. Additionally, I did consider doing EXACTLY what you drew up when I first installed it lol. I just decided that I wanted to refrain from popping 6" holes in the shelf, as it is pretty permanent.
There will be a window AC in the bedroom this summer, and a wall unit AC in the kitchen which is where I ported the passive intake.
Also, I think 16" is a little low for 600 watts anyway, so The light will be more like 18-22 from the tops when they go into flower.
Temps shouldnt be much of a problem.
Thank you again for all your input, and for taking the time to help out, +Reps again if it'll let me!

Oh and no worries at all about not noticing the baby post, like I told XLR8, I kinda just slipped it in there all snaky like on purpose lol. Thank you for the kind words:Namaste:

Re: Quix's First Auto Grow Featuring Blue Mammoth, LA Diva and Afghan Kush Ryder

As a side note, I have to mention that when running your system like this, small things like the sealability of your light hood may be of some importance. You want every bit of the air being drawn through the hood, to come through the port, cooling the bulb- not through the sides of the glass or other places in your hood. The Xtrasun is a decent hood, but in retrospect I'd rather have gone with the Daystar, which is supposed to seal 100% at the glass. There was a 3/32" gap at some places where the glass meets my hood, so I simply ran a strip of MASKING tape along those edges. Please don't use duct tape or other "gummy" types of tape on your hood, you'll be sorry if you do.

Hope all is well in your worlds!:Namaste:

I have air-cooled Daystars, they're not perfect by any means. The gasket material between the glass and the hood was pretty poor from the manufacturer truthfully. One of the best things I did, was tore it all out and replaced it with new gasket material/weatherstripping that I got from hardware store. It immediately reduced smell leakage and improved their efficiency and air-tightness. During bloom, I also run painters tape two layers thick over all the seams of the hoods to further keep a barrier between the air and the odor. Works best at keeping the gummy stuff away as you so keenly mentioned.

Hope things are really great for you all Quix, that's so cool about the new addition to the family - how exciting! :high-five:

:yikes:

I really need to stop letting the guys at the hydro store feed me the sales BS!
I've been working on finding a hydro store I like, since last year when my go-to guy went out of business. I suppose looking up reviews on the products would help:rofl:

Thanks for the heads up on those! And thanks for the kind words about the baby:high-five:

Re: Quix's First Auto Grow Featuring Blue Mammoth, LA Diva and Afghan Kush Ryder

Hey man no problem at all. I just like trying to help people with what I can :Namaste:
Thank you for the reps as well Quix. It puts a big smile on my face :high-five:
Still sorry I didn't see the newborn post lol, but that is honestly fantastic man!

I totally understand about the cutting up the holes part as It's pretty hard to make it look like nothing happened.
Didn't know about those A/C's but they should definitely do the trick:cheertwo:

Love the muffler on your fan. They can get loud that's for sure. I put the that variable switch on my 8" HO. The one I got I did some serious looking for my needs the max air flow and lowest eletric cost, and I came up with One of the cheaper ones fit best.
Econo Supreme HO i think it called. Love the room and now it's time to get busy I see. I'm looking foreward to seeing how your lowriders turn out. Hey I grew a White Siberian Auto that gave the best yield I ever seen from a auto I'm pretty sure it was like -6 oz's off her. They let me send ya reps+++ well till laters keepem Green

Thanks for stopping in, I hope all is well in your world my friend:Namaste:

Re: Quix's First Auto Grow Featuring Blue Mammoth, LA Diva and Afghan Kush Ryder

cool!!! so whats wrong with bushmasters? never used it but sure would like to know

Hey BID! BM is basically a diluted version of an agricultural growth hormone regulator that has been shown to cause SERIOUS problems in humans. Just a little on the skin has been shown to cause seizures, paralysis and nerve damage! My hydro guy has a strong background in the AG industry, and I trust the things he's told me, as it correlates to the things I've read online. There's actually a thread here I remember reading long ago....Bushmaster...to get you started...:Namaste:
