Quix's Corner - Puddle-o-Green - NL & Bag Seed - Indoor Soil Experiment

Hell I got a couple minutes so I though I'd do a quick update....My lovely #4 clone gave it up to me today, showed me what was under the skirt:) Roots baby!

So I have my 4....Group shot, what a cute little family huh!?
P6140001.JPG
#4 is almost as tall as Mrs. "Vigor" ...
P6140002.JPG

And #2, and 3, are coming up nicely, not far behind, with the yellow starting to fade. It seems they love the FFOF, and the Superthrive and Great White.

#5 is showing roots in the cloner, and as soon as 6 and 7 give it up, they'll all go into soil at the same time so I can get the bubbler out the way and make preparations for flower
P6140004.JPG
...Although 7 looks sad ever since I pushed her down through the rockwool to see if she had roots. It was probably pretty traumatizing.....
P6140005.JPG

Thats it for now, theres hope afterall!!:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

Hey Mac! Wow 30 cuttings! That'd be a bit overwhelming for me, glad I only built my cloner with 8 sites! I'd probably try to fill all 30! Then I'd have nowhere to grow 'em!:thedoubletake::rofl: I'll have to get over to your journal soon, I'm a tad maxed out on time lately as my girl uses the computer to do her school work, but I should have another laptop soon, and I promise I'll get around to it! Hope all is well, see ya soon....:Namaste:

Looks like # 7 will make it! :goodjob: I tried to clone in so many way's, without a cloner. Different cubes, soil, water in a cup, different lights, etc. etc. Just couldn't seem to get the hang of it. :hmmmm: But next time (coming soon) I will be more forthcoming in my journal and get some real time advice. I was too embarrassed before. Now, well... after my first grow and all the help I received I won't be so embarrassed to ask for help.:) and don't stress over getting to my jrnl! I'm having great time checking on yours! :nicethread:

:peace:

Poor #7 looks traumatized , poor thing.....she will come out of it soon. :)

Myself and Norcaliwood seem to always have more going than we should or need. Then we look for a place for them. Sounds like you want to join our club.;)

So far I have controlled myself with this grow, BUT, I keep wanting to plant a bunch to be ready when I harvest the present ones. It's fight not to plant a bunch and be ready, make that over ready! :high-five:

HAHAHA what a dirty girl! How many dates did you have to take her on first!?! lol Lookin good buddy! I'll bet #7 pulls through! Im gonna take pics everyday of my clones roots and put all the pics in one post just to show how fast the roots grow once they get started! Keep up the good work buddy! :bravo:

Hey mac thanks a lot brother! Man I know how you feel, I found this site about 3 weeks into my first grow, and was too shy to start a journal or post shit on anyone elses' threads...So I just cruised for a while (lurked)...<Hate that term)....Anyway after a while you get to feeling at home in some of these threads, and it just....happens eventually. Please dont ever hesitate to post, ask, or otherwise just shoot tha shit over here, you're always welcome.

Its kind of a crap shoot, cloning is. I guess I've been blessed with a number of favorable factors....A forgiving strain, some luck, and even my PH seems to be ok (although I dont have a tester and have no idea where it actually reads) If you ever have a chance, try running some Northern Lighs. Easy to grow, and clone. I have never changed my res, added very few nutes, under CFLs, low humidity, no domes, no misting, and I never PHed the rockwool cubes like you're supposed to. You're supposed to soak them over night in 5.5 before you use them....HUH.......
Hopefuly you'll get it down one day, I'll come over n cheer you on!:cheertwo::Namaste:

Hell OMM, I want to join ANY club you're a member of!! :high-five:
Hey Quix there looking great glad to hear 4 out of the 7 best made it looking real strong an healthy
Hey Crower thanks my friend! I'm tryin!!:high-five:

Dude, all I had to do was lock her in the closet with her feet in water for a couple weeks, I knew she'd give in eventually! Thanks for the kind words, We'll see if #7 makes it, her and 6 have till the end of the weekend, its put out or get out time! I'm diggin the roots YOU have over there as well! I may try the plugs you use next time!:high-five:

Nice job on the Clones, Quix! :high-five:

I haven't cloned yet, but I'm sure it's something I'll do eventually. I really like growing from seed, but that has it's disadvantages, too. I know who I'm going to tap when I need cloning advice, though, seems like you're a natural!

Hey X thanks a bunch brother!:high-five: But you have a lot to learn, about what I HAVEN'T learned yet lol. I'm tellin you man, I got seriously lucky on everything I've done so far....Unless, I AM just good at it and haven't failed yet....:hmmmm: I like what you posted over at Mr Krip's place, about people having the tendancy to "Over-love" their plants. That HAS been at the forefront of my M.O. for this one for sure. I'll tell you what will determine my skill level, and luck....This fall I'll be trying a couple different strains, and THEN we'll see if I'm as good as it looks now....:high-five::Namaste:

Thanks for that Quix and you are definitely blessed! Sheeit if I sneeze my clones go fungal!!! Maybe if I quit messing with them they'll be just fine! and honestly I think that has a lot to do with growing in general, man there's so much to learn/unlearn!!! Similar to flying airplanes... Damn it! if you quit messing with it, the plane will fly itself! (quote from my first flight instructor, that used much more colorful language, and used many times by me, when I became one) :)

A Big happy Father's Day to all of you Dads out there!!

There will be an update, with pictures, in the next few hours....I'm excited!!

Ah hell I cant hold it in, I'll give you a hint....It has something to do with light, heat, and its pretty....I have a Fathers Day breakfast to go to, but I'll get pics and a post up later today!!:thumb::peacetwo:

Well here's the deal. I went to my local hydro store yesterday, after cashing in all my scrap copper and brass I've saved from work over the last couple months. Got about 180 bucks, not bad. I went to the hydro store expecting to pick up a 200w 27k CFL bulb for flower. Dude says he's out, and cant even get them anymore. Bummer right? Well, I was fully prepaired to spend 80 bones, but since I got a little more from the copper than I had expected, it was easier for the guy to sell me on (and for me to justify) The newest addition/upgrade to my little corner. HEAT has always been my enemy, as my space is so small, and that made it easier for him to sell me on this item as well....

Boys and girls, Quix has gone LED....

I'm now able to use the 125w CFL in the hood, over on the clones in the mylar cab, and suppliment with spirals. I will also be supplimenting the new led with spirals, but this will reduce my heat on the mothers by a bunch. It runs 90 actual watts, and is supposed to replace a 400watt hps?? I still have a lot of reading to do, but I know for a fact this thing could never out-perform a 400 HPS...250, MAYBE, but I doubt even that.
Either way, Ive reduced wattage, AND heat, And these LEDs are supposed to last quite a while (Much longer than bulbs) Sooooo we shall see.

The light has a built in fan for cooling the board inside, which Im sure they all do, but its MUCH cooler than the hood with the cfl....I cant wait to see if I can pull some higher numbers with this thing, but more importantly, I'd like to get more density.

I'll be slowly making my rounds to most of your journals, thanks for humoring me, I know other peoples upgrades are never as exciting as our own.

Also, If anyone has any input on these things, PLEASE chime in, good or bad. My guy says he'll let me return it if I dont like it soooo.:Namaste::MoreNutes::peacetwo:

More light = GOOD! :cheertwo: Nice light and IMHO led's rock. The heat advantage alone should make a difference in your grow situation. I've a feeling the girls will love it! :thumb: I have not had the budget to add led's at this point but when I can I'm going to jump on it! My elect bill is atrocious, enough for a car payment, or a new toy, or a separate veg room/clone room, or maybe an outdoor green house, the list goes on for sure! :)

Do you know what the light spectrum is of the new led? I WANT ONE! You can call me, jealous, envious, or whatever! :biglaugh:

:peacetwo: and Happy fathers day!

----BUT, The sheet of paper he gave me, along with the pamphlet, look to be legit, while the unit he sold me look to be of a no-name brand, and the pics of the unit on the website show there should be a branding, like a sticker or something on it, and the fan ports on the back side of this thing look a little different than the ones in the pics on the website. All this thing has on it are the electrical specs such as wattave, voltage and so on. I cant help but wonder if he's selling these no-name units that he gets at a huge discount, as the better more reliable units from this website....I'm a little worried now....:helpsmilie::oops::bitingnails: Good thing nhe said I could return it!! We'll see...

Hey Quix :)

So now you're a big eye ball...gives me the creeps! :whoa::whoa:

What you have there is an old 90w UFO. Mmmmick and I have been using them for years. That thing is a veg light! It doesn't flower very well, but you got your money's worth, because it can really veg. Adds color the grow too! :) Congrats mine was a 175 bucks back in the day! It will really help with your heat issues. :) :cheertwo:

Hey buddy! I actually did quite a LOT of research myself on LED's when i was getting ready to start getting all of my stuff together. Ultimately cost is what prevented me at the time from getting one. But from all the research i did i definitely found a lot of things out. First it seemed to me that there definitely IS a difference in quality from one to the next and that not all LED's are made equal. To me it seems like its only a matter of time before led's become the standard grow light. Like all new technology it takes time to perfect and it seems like you can compare led's to computers, 20 years ago they were huge and slow and now they are tiny and super fast lol. So i definitely think they are on their way and i do think that there are a lot of good quality ones out there right now. I mean whats not to like about them, more power and duration for less watts and heat! Cant beat that combo. The hardest part seems to be sorting through all the garbage advertising from the companies and the purests who couldnt ever fathom growing without HID lighting and have nothing but hate for something they havent tried. I did actually find an excellent video, much like the vape one, that was a time progression of the same strain plants, one under led and one under hps. I do remember that the hps did perform better and faster but thats not to say that the led didnt yield good results itself. I'll have to see if i can find it cause its hard to find videos that arent from the LED makers themselves showing how amazing they are lol. I dont myself have any experience with them for flowering but as OMM said they do work great for veg, even my brothers little crappy ebay one worked great for veg! Best way to do it is just like you are, best way to find things out is to try them yourself! I'll definitely be interested in the results! :cheertwo:
