what's happening big guy!Hey PK
true, but it just feels there isn't much happening tonight. Usually there is something happening on someone's page .lolIt's always a bit slower around here after the outdoor harvests have finished up.
It really is an exceptionally slow night though.
And it's Saturday...
Here is a fatty pass it downJust getting rollin myself.
Pk I went through the same thing with my roots and my water temp was 78 to 80 degrees. when I dropped my water temp to 68 to 70 degrees the slim seemed to dissipate. however I keep my ph anywhere from 5.5 to 6.1I dismantle the system and just took the pibbles into a container to have look.
Definitely have good root system developing, but What is all this slimy stuff building from?
what is this the MC? the hoses are kind of plugged. @Pennywise have you encountered anything like this?
hey josh, welcomeAlso when I changed my water temp I added co2o t ok my water. What it does is kinda cost your roots in oxygen and kills the slime as well as the colder water. I've read your whole journal and your doing great. I went through everything you are. Its nothing big my friend. It just takes a couple weeks at running your tank and plants together before it stables. Are you still running your filter in your fish tank? If so pull it. What it does is pull all your nutes from the water. It neutralizes them some how. What I did was buy alge eaters. To fight the abundance of algae. it's not bad at all. Just make sure that your flow of water is strong enough to wash your expanded clay pellets of the fish tank debree.
Ok I understand more of what your dealing with and with my slimy roots the co2o cleared it up. I've got a whole eco system living in and out of my fish tank water and I mixed 2and half tsp of hydrogen peroxide to 10 gal of water with half cup Epsom salt full dissolved. this mix neutralizes the harmful bacteria that sets in on your root system. The slime will be there from t I'll me to time but not to worry if there not stinking or turning a dark brown. And even if your roots turn brown sometimes it's from your nutrients.hey josh, welcome
I'm not taking water from the fish tank anymore. Tap water for now.
The res temp is at 66f and in two days i've got slim all over the res again. There is also air pumps and pumps in the res. Adding co2 to the res would maybe fix the slim issue but I have a feeling that it will also cause issues to the plant. I'm not to sure, as the plant take oxygen through their leaves which is above ground. My fish tank has co2 and that's only because the plants leaves are submerged in the tank.
I really need that Z7/Z9 to come and test it that way.
lol, i was only one page behind on your journal. Our setups and use of nutrients are different. Also, i noticed you called me up on your journal but since it didnt have a @ in front of my nick. I didn't get notified. When you want to call any member just put a @ in front of their name.New Aquaponic System: First Timer

I never did hydro PK but an increase in ppm makes me think. An increase in bacteria growth could do that? Pennywise has mentioned flying skull z7 enzyme before to kill any negativity. So yes, I would. I'd also wait for Pennywise to comment before buying. He's on top of this.Today's update,
The res on the left has a static water level with ph and ec rising. back in the day pennywise gave me a peace of document to understand the solution of the problem.
GG on the left
should i change the res water and do a good clean, If the plant is leeching nutrient? ppm has risen from 320 to 377
GG on the Right
same problem as on the left only difference i've noticed it does not have any slimmery gunks. pretty clean water.
Res temp 15c/59f. i've turned the fan off to allow the water to warm up a bit.
