PK Perpetual Grow Journal 2020

do you know what those are?

Hi PK! I’m thinking your plants will love all the nutrients in the fish tank water, as long as there is no leftover fish food or algae being brought into your grow that could spell disaster...

How big is your fish tank, and do you feed fresh or dried food to the fish?

hey DutchinAB, 90 gallon fresh water tank with live plants. Fish get feed with dried sinking pellets. The tanks has a 120g res pump that cleans the water. The water goes into the res, out to an UV light and from there out to the tank.
The tank or the res won't be connected to the grow. Only the water from the tank will be taken.
the plants take dry amendments like
Kno3 which is a potassium nitrate
KH2Po4 which is a potassium phosphate
and micros

the dried fish safe fertilizers get 1/6tesp of each amendment every other week. i think i just posted a video on one the other pages but here it is again.

lol, that's more then what my fish tank is. Maybe i should just grab the fish tank water since i clean and do a tank refill every week

There's a lot of posts on the forum that mention/discuss aquaponics, just not enough for a specific section (so it's somewhat scattered). The forum's search routine will find all that. A general web search for the term (with or without "cannabis") will help a lot more... and then you can become an expert and create a FAQ about it for us ;).

BtW, it appears that you have a new light on the way. The manufacturer's coverage maps show the amount of useful light at the perimeter (3'x3' space) still climbing at 18" - and the center is still "hotter" than you'll need unless you're running elevated temperatures and CO2 supplementation - so, maybe you'll find it works best at a distance that's somewhere between 20" and 24" above the tops of your plants. At some point, you'll hit... the center amount will continue to fall, but the edges will stop rising and also start falling, which is a "negative," and you wouldn't want it that high. Probably best closer to 20". That's just a wild-@ss guess, though. But you'll definitely want to take that into consideration so that you don't end up with a setup - or strain choice - that sees the plants growing too close to the light.

Congratulations. I'd been wondering what (if anything) would come of the sponsor's contest gaffe.

Thank you @TorturedSoul
i've actually have done research on google about this. However, with the amount of information i found online, it made me start wondering what is correct and what is not.

I know, i couldn't resist not too. So, last night i grabbed a nug from the box inside the fridge and i left it outside to let it dry overnight. This morning i busted it up and gave it 15 additional min to cure while it was busted.
When i was busting it, I could smell the earthy smell which is understandable after talking it over.

I notice a bit of earthy taste to it, but it smokes smoothly and no coughs.
I will cut the skin of an apple and drop it in the box which is inside the fridge. This should help with the aroma and will allow the inside of the box to start smelling to apple instead of earthy smell. You could do this with with other fruits as well. lemon and orange are some my other favorite once.

I gotta admit, it's got a good head high to it! i'm gonna go play some GTA :Namaste:

so today, i took 10 gallons of water from my 90 gallon fish tank and divided it into the two 5 gallon res,.
Added Hydrozyme 2ml
Added MC slowly just to get a ppm of 300. it was couple scoops of 1/8tesp
Tank water is already at ph 6 and i confirmed it by making a new batch of solution for the ph pen. Calibrated to 6.86 and tested the tank and the res water.

Got the air pumps running and the water pump. res water is topped off to the bottom of the clay pebbles.
Will see how things go

Fish shit, plant food, and aeration. You're going to be growing all kinds of stuff.

Hopefully, whatever it turns out to be, it'll leave some nutrients for the plant ;).

Congrats on the new light PK! It was good to see Mars step up and make things right. Enjoy it in good health!
Thank you Sauga :Namaste:

Sounds and looks awesome! I used to have a 55 gallon at my old place, re-homes all the fish and took the tank with us but haven’t set it up again here yet. I may have to do just that though if your plants respond well to the aquarium water....

Happy growing!

i use aquarium soil "Amazonia" that throws the ph down to around 4 i think it was and i had to let the soil sit for about few week and do water changes just to let that ph get stable. then added sand which brought the ph up. This tank is about 6 years old now and i just maintain the water change and the plants. The UV light gets scheduled with the plant feeding. Specially when i add the micro amendments as it contains (Fr) iron
Different type of community fish in there.
the red once " not sure exactly what their called" but they reproduce. I've got two female fish that constantly f.u.k and production begins since there rest is all males.
