PK Perpetual Grow Journal 2020

the hydro clone is now starting to root, i really gotta figure out type of weed they are

you may want to try your hand at bubbleponics? or expiriment with other types of bucket systems that may work easier for you.. so far Ive had good luck and not a single sign of stress from day 1 .. the roots took immediately sending out 5 or 6 feeler roots the first night.. must have just been my dumb luck planting them at the right level and beginners luck.. I swear sometimes it feels like my plants talk to me telling me exactly what they want through a Spock like Vulcan mind meld lol..

Hey there! I am starting my 5th grow and all have been in segregated Bubbleponic bucket. I have a small 4ft wide by 2ft deep closet that can support an average of 3 buckets without over crowding. I call my journal "warezaholics skid row closet grow". This grow is three SuperBud autoflower that report to finish in 6 weeks from seed.

I have simply configured each bucket as a separate environment. Air supply and defuser stone at the bottom of each bucket. Since I perfected my setup, my plants have been phenomenal, albeit just a few at a time but I'm 65 and alone so my wee little stash jars are sufficient.

I would like to find other Bubbleponic growers and join in some conversations about that topic.

im not a pro at it at all and i bug @Pennywise about it
i've got the same setup. just in small container for now

Pennywise is my go to guy for the longest time and he's never been wrong with his advice over all my DWC Bubbleponic issues. I use General Hydroponics Trio with calmag and hydroguard. I use ph up and down to a 6.1 ph at all times. My sports bottle 8 pack is perfect to get all my chemicals in a single caddy.

If I can get together with others with other growers that are faithful Bubbleponic grow journal setups would be great!

This little guy is now started to root out from the stem.
I do adjust the ph every day and I've got couple drops of hygrozyme mixed in the res water. I've noticed since there is no nutrients in there the ph doesn't rise quickly.

Also, my 6" mesh pots arrived today. i guess i am slowly putting the puzzle back together.

What substrate do you intend to use? I personally use Groden rockwool plugs and cubes stuffed into the 6" grow pots and the pellets to block light. Keeping the root mass in total darkness is best.

You might notice that floating straw serving as a constant water level indicator.

Another thing, I'm WAY to ill to be stressed over checking each bucket for its ph level every couple of days. I have one bucket of premixed nutes with ph 6.1 and a bucket of ph 6.1 plain water. I've learned over time what I need to feed them (with a good balance) between full water changes.

at the moment they are just in clay pebbles.

Maybe cocoa choir can take over as a substrate. If someone with more experience can tell where that will lead to. I only have experience with rockwool substrate; from germination to harvest it holds up very well.

I have tried cocoa choir in Bubbleponic only I found large net bags as a confinement material for the choir. I simply cut a few slightly larger holes in the bottom and a few on the sides; the roots will find a way. Very little cocoa fiber will leak maybe once while my first water change got those out. They come in many sizes. I was using them in 10 inch plastic net pots. Even without this bag, the cocoa choir will settle into the pot and droppings will settle in and eventually stop or slow to nothing.

Maybe it will work 4 you 2

I give it a couple 5ml squirts of fluids daily right down the middle along the root in the "plug" and my foamy bubbles keep the entire "cube" just wet enough. That's been the routine for 4 grows.

My first attempt was with cocoa and it was an outside failure so I have been using rockwool in my closet successfully ever since. I'm not qualified enough to attempt it again (YET)!

I'm still trying to master the rockwool- Bubbleponic bucket stuff. Maybe next spring or summer?!...

Happy girls. This is going to be good . I noticed that even the same strain all seem to have a mind of their own on how they want to grow and how they want to be treated. As a woman myself, I understand. Lol
Emilya's watering method is fantastic, and so clearly explained.

I always run clay hydroton. Coco would be messy in water culture I think.
i agree with how messy and yukki looking the res water can be. I think the clay pit balls do a good job and with some perlite on top, I am sure that the light won't penetrate.

Okay, you don't need to repeat yourself LOL. Cocoa is probably the most used medium on the market. Rockwool is my choice, for now, It is less messy and less cleanup.
I think the reason for repost is due to the server lagging and the person thinks its not posted so they repost it.
Don't get me wrong with the rockwool. I like them, but i do agree with pennywise that you do have to understand how they hold water. I had to bring my netcup up because the fuzz of the air bubbles was making the rockwool too wet and because it holds a lot of water, it actually makes it problematic.

How about cut straw pieces

Thank you for following along Gabby. You know how every person is different. Same thing goes for plants. However, between autos and photoperiods, I find that auto's have their own mind. Photoperiods are more controllable.

I always put a layer of expanded clay pellets underneath the rockwool and leave the plastic wrapper on the cube to discourage roots from pushing sideways. More pellets on the sides block light. My roots are in near total darkness and as the root ball grows the water levels are dropping maybe 1 or 2 inches by each evening when I feed them. The rockwool stays healthy and stable enough to produce great herb every time.

Because each grow bucket is totally separate and need to watch the water level without lifting the plant to look... I invented a floating plastic drinking straw as a gauge to watch the water level at all times; each line above the "full line" is dropping one quart lower. You're Welcome!:welcome::snowboating:
