Pigeons420 Flies the Coop & Goes Perpetual in 2015

re: Pigeons420 Flies the Koupe & Goes Perpetual in 2015

Ok thanks for the advice, Friends!

Took quite a bit of tinkering but it's done. I think. Better?

Beautiful! You will get a lot better air flow like that! Im sure you just got it back on but hows the temps looking? You have all 3 lights on now? Love that hood!

I love the hood too!! Looks so professional! Haha. The temp hasn't changed yet. I'm at 84ish. Before I switched the fan I was up 3 degrees. So we will see if this will prevent it from going higher

re: Pigeons420 Flies the Koupe & Goes Perpetual in 2015

Excellent way to jump right in there and make it right Pigeons. And kuddos to the team for prompting you through it. That looks marvelous. Reps baby.

got up and noticed a yellowing of the top of the plant will post pics in 3 hrs when they come out of sleepy time

re: Pigeons420 Flies the Koupe & Goes Perpetual in 2015

Ok, well a preliminary reading of the temps is, with the door open, I'm up to 88F This is up just a bit. But to a point where I'm a bit uncomfortable. I may resort to turning off the 250W and seeing what happens.

re: Pigeons420 Flies the Koupe & Goes Perpetual in 2015

What is the supply air temp?
I run a 440 CFM fan with a single 600W HPS in a tiny room (less than 3' x 4'). The fan usually runs at about 75% capacity and works great until the outside temps get too high.

re: Pigeons420 Flies the Koupe & Goes Perpetual in 2015

What do you mean by supply air temp?

Sorry - I was in too much of a hurry.
I mean the temperature of the air being pulled into the tent by your new fan.

re: Pigeons420 Flies the Koupe & Goes Perpetual in 2015

Is the duct fan the only fan you are running? I use a 6" duct fan for the intake of my 4'x8' tent and as Major referenced, I have a large 430CFM on the exhaust pulling through my HPS lights. I would think if you only have one fan, you would want it pulling the hot air out as an exhaust rather than blowing air in. I think your fan will be more efficient pulling air out rather than blowing air out from the light hood. As long as you keep your temps under control, it can work either way, I think?

re: Pigeons420 Flies the Koupe & Goes Perpetual in 2015

BbYour new fan is removing air out of your room, Pigeons. Where does the replacement air come from? Do you have a vent somewhere bringing air in or does it just find it's way in through cracks and wherever?
What is the temp of that replacement air?

re: Pigeons420 Flies the Koupe & Goes Perpetual in 2015

It's not pulling in its exhausting outside. Plz tell me it's not backwards

You have it right. The fan is pulling air through the light to cool it. That air goes outside. Right?

re: Pigeons420 Flies the Koupe & Goes Perpetual in 2015

have you tried adding ac ti your intake was suggested tio me

I do not have a vent (yet) I never thought about it. Love you.

I typically have the grow room door open so it's drawing from my basement that runs about 70F

Yea. And I went outside and I can feel the heat coming out. But I noticed since the fan is right there. It runs a little louder outside.

In all honesty I don't want to. I'm on the verge already of having to put the room on its own breaker. So I don't want to add anything else down there. But good idea.

I had to unplug the 250W HPS. I'm not overly concerned about this. Because I'm still running 1400W of HPS power. I will look into possibly getting another inline for when I install the carbon filter. I kind of got hungry when ordering my fan and only ordered a 260CFM and I need like a 360 minimum. I seen some at Home Hardware and they were only 40$ so I might check one out. Same thing I have.

Until then, Lights went out about 30 min ago and temperature was 86F I'm comfortable with this. And for now I'm looking forward to trying to harness this power and kill nothing :slide:

Edit:: thank you guys for really putting forward a solid effort to help a guy out. I'm indebted to you all. (Not that I wasn't already). :high-five:

Bears that's a great question and I want to address it quickly. I had this same idea. But I got hung up on the idea of safety. I didn't know what material I could find that would simulate the glass that's under the light itself. because its not glass. I didn't want to put some kind of plastic for obvious reasons and I didn't know if a regular piece of glass would work. I know that the temperature coming of the bulb can do some serious damage to your skin. So I thought it would melt anything that I could get my hands on. And anything I could get my hands on would cost money. and that's not the idea. At 314$ CDN this light comes straight from the manufacturer with all precautions taken to ensure safety and efficiency.

Great idea though, I thought about it for a long time. I have 2 non cooled and I really wanted to cool them.

Thursday Update

What another beautiful day. I hope your all feeling rested and motivated to tackle whatever today brings your way. My little boy is sick, has some sort of cough that has been rather persistent since Sunday. Sidelined him Tuesday and Wednesday but he is at er today. That's my Champ!

After the hustle and bustle of yesterday and getting my light and fan working today looks great. The temperature when I walked in this morning was 75F and has slowly crept to 81F. I have a feeling that all the work I did yesterday to install the light created more heat in the grow room then what's to be normal. As soon as I start working in there I start to sweat bullets and I get real nervous working around my plants. I can remove most of them but the SCROG has to stay because its no fun to move. So, the paranoia is there that something is going to go horribly wrong, hasn't yet, but I'm quite prone to clumsiness. Today I will only be in there for feeding and the odd visit, no work. So, we shall see if that has any affect.

Now the girls, shall we?

24 Light Cycle

Of course I can't quit talking long enough to start the show! I wanted it to be known that I am still running a 24/0 light cycle for my veg cabinet. I'm not to sure if I mentioned this at the beginning. And a few Friends have come along since then. There's a lot of debate out there whether or not it's the way to go or not. I'm not in a position to answer that question, however, I am in a position to say that this is something I've always done. I get great results every time and I will continue to run a 24/0 light cycle until at least the last couple weeks of veg. Mataro is week 6 and Flower Bomb Kush is week 9. 24 hours light the whole time. So, please bring on the comments, what do you think?

Ok ok here they are.

MATARO BLUE(week 6 veg)
Still rebounding from her transplant quite nicely. Just as bushy as ever. Her nodes are so tight and she seems to be getting even light distribution. I giver her a 1/4 turn everyday. Sometimes more or less because I take her out of the cabinet at least once a day for a good visual.

FLOWER BOMB KUSH(week 9 veg)
Still quite deranged and awkward. I still love her. I can tell she puts a lot of effort in to getting ready in the morning, so I'm not going to cramp her style. :P
image26433.jpg

image26434.jpg

GREEN CRACK(week 3 flower)
Very nice looking girl. Her canopy is even and seems to get light evenly. I'm sure like the others she is soaking up the rays of the 1000W:surf:

image26437.jpg

ANESTHESIA (week 11 flower)
Of all the girls in flower she is responding to the light the best. The side of her that is facing the light is still exploding with white pistils. I still see a couple weeks in her. I am still giving flowering nutes :MoreNutes:. I will probably stop nutes next week. But that's up to her, not me.
image26438.jpg

image26439.jpg

CRITICAL HOG (week 7 flower)
Cant help but look at her and ask "are you done yet?" I'm just ready to move on. She looks so sad and depressed and I cant help but feel her pain. I've done this to her and I wish I knew what was wrong. I can tell she's giving me all she's got. she's not ready to give up yet.
