Just started a thread on t5 growing. Does it yield much in a grow tent. I have a 4'x2'x5' high grow tent and a 5 light 4' long canopy t5 system. Your thoughts on this. Do you feel it will work? Thanks again

re: Rex Pigeons Flies the Coop & Goes Perpetual in 2015

T5 are great for veg growing and they'll work perfectly for it. But once you switch to flowering you need to switch the spectrum as well.

Now the bulbs are 4' long but don't they need to be screwed into something that will take up a couple inches of space on either side you don't have?

Other then those 2 points, if you can change spectrum for flowering by changing bulb or something. and it doesn't take up much more room. I think you'll be ok! Wont be a record breaking yeild but smokable :)

It's a complete light fixture that holds 5 lights. Ya probably best for veg. Thanks. Have the 400 watt MH and HPS. Just found that when I had the 400 watter in the grow tent it got way too hot. Don't have one of those exhaust fans so I use the 400 outside the tent. OK well I'll just use the t5's in the tent for veg. Guess I can keep the t5 bout 4" away from the tops. Thanks again

Yes the hand thing. Great approach. I've had some problems germinating from seed. Submersed the seeds in water for up to 18 hours and did the damp paper towel thing. Out of 10 seeds only 5 spouted a root. Your thoughts on a better way or is this the only way? I hope I'm not taking up too much of your time? Thanks

re: Rex Pigeons Flies the Coop & Goes Perpetual in 2015

There are a few different ways to germinate but for me it's the same things every time.

Very complicated....

Put seed in soil and water. Keep soil moist. In 3 days you have sprout.

Follow those instructions carefully

re: Rex Pigeons Flies the Coop & Goes Perpetual in 2015

Yes that is complicated. Couldn't you have given me an easy way. Lol. Thanks so much. I'll try that. Have a great day. All the best from Canada

re: Rex Pigeons Flies the Coop & Goes Perpetual in 2015

I noticed in your journal you said you veg at 24 hours a day instead of 18/6 . Do you feel you getter faster vegging that way? Thanks

Ontario near Kitchener- Waterloo my friend. Nice to know. Can't beat a fellow canuk

Yes you can beat a fellow Canuck but they'll probably just apologize the whole time you're beating them. Generally we are too nice to beat people though, even when they deserve it.

Hi everyone!

Not sure if anyone noticed but I went AWOL there for the last few hours. For some reason, as I was about to answer your questions Bert, my acct got deactivated and I no longer had access to my acct. and couldn't post comments. After some discussion with the staff I finally was able to re-activate it - Members Locked Out Of Accounts - Expired Email Accounts

Thankfully I saved my answer before attempting to fix it. So here it is.

***We had that heat spell last week. Nice and Kool this week.

To be honest with you, I only ever vegged under a 24 hour light cycle because that's what I did from the start. I did notice that the majority of the time the girls were short and stout. Now the veg cabinet has been on 18/6 from the start and I've noticed that they're a bit tall and lanky. Possibly due to light distance issues.

But it does lead me to wonder whether or not keep the plant away from a dark light cycle and therefore denying her access to certain starches and sugars that help her stretch, whether or not that has an impact on her statcher.

But to answer your question. Do they grow faster? The answer is No they don't***

Burtski, here's a link to a post Cannabelle did yesterday on just this thing. I think this may be the best idea I've seen yet for germinating, and it's how I plan to do it from now on.
