Phototron 2 Space Capsule: My Magical Grow Journey

Day 35 update & pics for you guys!

Looking like she's coming around, still have some miscolored fan leaves and purpling of the stems but I believe she's pulling herself together!

Man I hate that my baby looks all beat up lol. Poor thang.

Also got some upskirt shots lol

I've heard people say that purpling of the stems can be caused by LEDs, but I did an experiment and found out that it is also caused by lack of magnesium. If you take some calmag in a spray bottle and spray it on your plant when it's lights off..... Once maybe twice a week..... The purpling of the stems will tend to disappear or certainly lesson. Not that it is unsightly, just knowing that your plants are lacking a mineral might be essential later on.

That being said, it's hard to believe that your girl was uprooted....., looking pretty awesome to me. Mine is two days older than yours and although they suffered some over-watering stress as well, not nearly as big as yours and yours were grown under fluorescent... Correct?

Thats interesting enough, thanks for that Guy! I'll have to get some calmag over the weekend then. Yeah, knowing my plant is lacking in something I'd rather just go ahead and help take care of the problem earlier on.

Yeah I still can't believe it's doing as well as it is. I should of snapped some pics of it in the bag but man I was panic mode as soon as I seen it!! Lol.

Yeah, I'm growing under 2 (supposed to be 3)
34w fluorescents and 2 2700k cfls. I started out with the 1 cfl about 2 inches from the top of the plant until about week 3 when I added another identical one in the phototron. I'm about 8 inches from the top now. I've slowly been moving my lights around (about every week) alternating what parts of the plant they are directly above.

It may not be the best equipment and lighting but it seems to be working lol

Okay so I guess I can't keep track of what day is what (I'm getting lost in my long days lol) or my counting just sucks. It's OFFICIALLY day 37 or Week 5 day 2.

Here are some pic updates... I've noticed some light green on the outer edges of a few new fan leaves. And the new tops coming out are super bright green, almost yellow. Too many nutes? (My camera seems to suck today so it doesn't show the light green I'm talking about) figured I'd post them up anyways lol.

Before I get any feedback, you'll notice my soil is super moist, I'll be working some odd hours this week so I've overwatered on purpose so that it takes longer for her to want more. Not sure if this is the best practice but I won't be here to tend to her lol

Well further investigation points towards mag deficiency (yellowing on edges of leaves and rust colored spots I'm seeing now) just like Guy said! Still waiting for my ph meter and cal mag to get here but all this snow is slowing things down alittle. Hope she hangs tough, no nutes for the next couple weeks, gunna flush real good.

You can go to Lowe's and buy Dolomitic lime. It's the same thing as CAL Mag. I sprinkle a pinch on my soil every time I water only. I spike my initial soil with about 2 tbsp / 4 gallon pot. Easy peasy and much cheaper than name brand CalMag.

Just be careful with Dolomite Lime in larger quantities. It can throw the Calcium to Magnesium ratio off. Its a slippery slope with Dolomite Lime that is easy to get out of hand if you aren't careful with your ratios (Supposed to be about 7:1 if I am not mistaken)

That's good advice Van . 7:1 ratio refers to what.. Sorry? Guess ive been on the low side. My stems were all quite red until last grow when I started doing CalMag foliage sprays at lights out. Took 2 weeks, but my stems all went back to green. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't done it lol. All that said...luck obviously played a large role in me not giving too much.

Yeah looking a little overwatered type droopy but happy for sure!

Good stuff lass!

You generally want your Calcium to be 7 times the amount of magnesium (7:1 ratio). Too much dolomite lime without additional calcium to keep that ratio relatively in check can have adverse effects. By all means if you are running a Magnesium deficiency, you need to add some, just be mindful there can be too much that will screw up your plants ability to uptake calcium. Dolomite Lime is a great product when used responsibly, but it can open a can of worms if used too heavily.

Now I don't understand how the ratio being jacked up causes lock out but it will. So just be careful.

Now all this is in the concept of growing in soil.....I can't remember what medium she is growing in.
