Phase Three: Out Of Work!

Looking good. Its great to see so many members ready to help with advice and pointers. I'm interested to see how they do once trained and flipped.
I was thinking you may see faster growth if you move the light up. They like to stretch to the light. Even at 700 watts and if temps are good at that distance I think it may stunt their growth somewhat. Much like watering. Roots grow to find moisture. If you always have a wet medium your root Rhizo zone will grow slower as they roots don't have to stretch and look for water.
Just a thought. Cheers.

Thanks for tips! I was thinking the same thing about the light because growth was kinda stagnant/slow! As far as training im a bit stumped on making them grow out instead of up because I have nothing to tie them too and super cropping was just never my thing it looks too brutal.

Is it too late to throw up a trellis net? Or maybe bamboo stakes?

I honestly think if it wasn't for this forum my garden wouldn't have made it this round! I was mis informed on coco!

As long as you haven't flipped either is good. Staking should never be done in flower. Check Wizard NPK on YouTube for amazing stake results.

Start of Week 7:

Smooth sailings heading into week 7! I changed a few thing and the improvements have shown!

Firstly I started giving my plants less water more often. As in I've cut my watering to .71 Liters of water twice a day

Secondly after reading a few threads I bumped my feeding back down to 1/4 strength of General Hydroponics recommendation and my CalMag up to 3ML per Gallon

If anyone is reading I would like opinions. The average height of my 12 plant canopy is 18in tall and 16in across besides a few behind at 9-10in on a 4x8 table.
Should I flip then already or give them the full 8 week veg I planned on?

I'd go the full 8 but my setup is done with the intent of 3 month or more veg times to yield huge plants. Your gonna get 3 weeks of explosive growth as you enter flower so consider that and how much room you can move the light. As each strain and pheno is different you won't know till you see how big they get flowering.

Height isn't my issue it's having more canopy than my light can cover effectively or having a canopy that's too dense.

I don't know what to cut and what not to essentially.

I decided to go ahead and flip the room at Day 55 from sprout. My wife and I are moving soon and have to be outta here by the second week of January or sign a new lease and that's definitely not in the plans!
Hopefully they finish in time and I don't have to chop them early. As of now the plan is to push it to the up until the day we have to move and hang them at the new house.

First 6 picture are from before and after flipping them and the last 4 are from after I switched to 12/12.

Big thanks to everyone who has helped me and offered their advise on this grow!

Should get them harvested right before moving. Looking good. Gonna see some explosive growth for 2.5 weeks.

Transition Week:
I never knew how to classify flowering weeks I see some people saying first day of 12/12 others say first sight of preflowers. So any input on that would help be great!

Not much to update right now because I posted an update on Friday due to the flip but things are recovering and stretching nicely!

I've been checking them daily for intersex traits and glad to report none but I'll still be keeping a close eye on them!

Feeding Per Gallon:
2.5ML FloraMicro
2.5ML FloraGrow
2.5ML FloraBloom
2ML Botanicare CalMag

P.S. I move my plants around a lot trying to find the perfect spots before they get too big to move and boy they're getting there! So if the canopy looks jacked every now and again don't mind it!

See Ya!

For the first week the plants are still changing hormones. The industry as a whole counts the first day of flip to 12hr as day 0 or 1 of flower. I find if you go at least a week past the breeders posted time you get great results. So most breeders count starting the second week after flip. Personal preference. Let the plants tell you when they are done. Looking great.

Moved my clones to coco because I couldn't get the hang of the DIY Bubble Cloner. Also popped a seed of "Runtz" my friend found. I'm really expecting some good Gelato of some sorts tho! That's all for now!

Healthy looking little girls. Bravo!
Thank you! my first 2 grows I cloned in rockwool and rapid rooters but I didn't have a tray & dome. Kinda threw this grow together..

Looking great Phaaaze! Nice work.
You have a decent number of girls in flower. I guess I got here just in time :)
Fun’s about to start :yummy:
I think I have too many to be honest 8 would be good in my opinion but I didn't have anywhere to put the extra plants and beans aren't easy today come by!

Thanks for stopping by it's just getting stretchy and out of control!

Flowering Week One Update:

Things are moving along steadily with little to no issues. The ladies filled out nicely and will be receiving a leaf / lowers strip at day 21. I've only had issues with one plant besides the two dwarfs I can't toss because my wife likes them .

Feeding Per Gallon:
2.5ML Flora Micro(General Hydroponics)
2.5ML Flora Bloom(General Hydroponics)
1.3ML Flora Grow(General Hydroponics)
3.0ML CalMag(Botanicare)
2.0ML Early PK Boost ( MB Ferts)

My pH has been steadily at 5.8-6.0 new meter helps tons. It's not a bluelabs but it gets the job done!

I uploaded pictures or my problem child! Hopefully someone knows why she's acting out !

Your plants are looking good...

You'll probably want to add plant stakes before the colas start putting on some real weight.

You seem to be running your nutrients hotter than I did. At 40% label strength I was seeing signs of nutrient burn. My last grow was at 35%, except for the CALiMAGic, which I needed to bump to 45%. I check and adjust the pH when I mix a batch of nutrients. That's it, that's all. I have never worried about TDS/EC, always using percent of recommended strength as my guide. The pH remains relatively stable over the life of a batch of nutrient solution, so this is once and done.

Plants grow better when the coco is mixed with perlite. It puts more air in the substrate. I use 70% coco / 30% perlite.

Always use a nutrient solution, and go for 10% - 20% runoff. This prevents a buildup of excess nutrients and salts in the root zone. Rarely, if ever, will you need to flush. I feed my plants at least twice daily, three times from late veg through harvest. I have mine on an automatic waterer.

I switched to Mega Crop for my current grow. The cost is less than that of the Flora Bloom I was using for all my previous grows. That's a huge savings. My plants are liking the change.

:goodluck: with your coming harvest.

I don't know where to find bamboo stakes or something like that to hold them in place and I refuse to fight with a scrog net this late in! Hopefully some thinning out will help until I find enough stakes.

At 1/4 strength I started seeing signs of deficiency so I bumped it up and continued the same regimen into flower.

in veg my pH was all over the place but I've got it down now. I've never looked into EC either but it seems a lot of coco growers use PPMs instead of pH so that's something I'd like to learn more about.

My mix is about 80% Coco 20% Hydroton but it is kind of dense in a way, it always seems compacted!

Thank you I gotta go grab a couple pairs of trim scissors before I forget!

pH is critical to making the nutrients bio-available. TDS/EC(PPM) is dependent on your water source and nutrient strength. You can't change it without changing the strength of your nutrient solution, and get no useful information from it. Where TDS/EC is critical, is in hydroponic systems where the plant has access to the entire batch of the nutrient solution. You need to monitor those systems on a daily basis to ensure the solutions don't get too stron or weak for your plants.

I do have a TDS/EC meter. It comes out once a month to check my RO.
