Peyton's Sour Sky Hempy Grow 2014

Normally I love to DIY my own stuff, but nutes and whatnot I'll probably just buy so there's no chance of me screwing it up. I hope my leaves start changing color when yours do. Glad to have a gauge now lol. I still have to get a scope to check trichomes. Been using a pair of binoculars backwards and can't complain, but would like a real scope

I'm not sure about far away things, but looking backwards and up close to a plant, you can clearly see the trichomes and all that good stuff. If you have a pair, give it a try, unless you have a real scope. I thought it was crazy the first time I read it but it works great. Mine are a small pair too, so I imagine a big pair would probably get in closer. I wonder if I can stick my camera to the eyepiece and take super close up pics that way... New experiment for tomorrow!

Checked my theory out on some non cannabis related items, and yes it will work! I can take super close ups of trichomes with camera and binoculars! That feels like quite a breakthrough for me

I never bothered buying a Lupe. I can see the trichs with my bare eyes no problem.

I just went and tried the binocular thing lol son of a bitch it does work. I got a old set of Bushnell's about 10 inch long. Be sweet if I could jerry rig a led in there. Looks like I got a new project tomorrow too lol

Thanks for that!

That's awesome! Yeah, my binoculars are only about 5 inches long, so I imagine you can see ridiculously close. Wildjim, If you read this, get out the binoculars and snap some pics!

I have a small pair and I will look tomorrow.

My wife's brother offered us a trip to the dominican republic for his birthday. Unfortunately I can't leave the country with my health as it is. And especially not to a third world country. I hated to say I couldn't go. I told the wife to go and just send me a cuban cigar by mail. I don't know if she'll go but August is a long time away.

I want her to take off two weeks and go with me. I want to go to either Oakland Cali or Denver, CO and buy some RSO. It's worth a try I think. I have to text my college pal and ask him to check around for me. But I'm not waiting for August. End of June maybe. I can't grow a pound and make the stuff. She is calling me to bed now... G'nite

Take it easy wildjim, good night. When you do make your trip, swing on by on your way back and smoke a couple blunts if ya want lol. Looking forward to some trich pics tomorrow

Will do. I wish the Mars 2 had a switch on it to turn the lights off. I guess I'll just use the plug as was intended. On my trip, if I go to Denver we're driving. I want to go back into the Big Thompson Canyon to see what it looks like 40 years after the flood. My wife and I were up there on my MC and when I saw the clouds I decided to leave. Good thing, the flood took out a few towns and killed a bunch of people. I also want to go up to Estes Park. When the wife and I first got to CO we went up there and got laid in the snow behind a boulder. Man, the good times.

Sounds like good times. Yeah, a switch would have been nice on Mars, but I figure I keep mine on a timer, so the only time I have to touch it is when I wanna take a pic with light off. That would have been crazy to be in a town that flooded. Scary, but cool I guess

Heh just was at Estes Park last weekend. Me, the wife, and the two kids stayed at the Stanley Hotel. Was fun downtown is going on now like there was never a flood. Roads going up are still kinda f'ed up but open. I would say Lyons got hit the hardest that we had saw. The moral of the story is if you live on a river.....get good insurance.

Yea, it wasn't like a flood you normally think of. It's a canyon with a river through it. There was a 10' diameter water pipe about 20' up that crossed the canyon. The wave took that out. The towns were just gone when it was over. I was going to school for electronics engineering at the time. I was working for a communications company in Greeley and worked on communications for emergency vehicles, fire and police and at the mines. I got to go up in the canyon a day or two after the flood. They were bulldozing corpses up when they were trying to get the mud out of the canyon. I remember this rock house, it was something. It was totally gone after the flood. I think they said the wave was 30' high that went through the canyon.

I'll try the binoculars today. I am anxious to see what that looks like. They are in my wife's van and she's gone now. She works at 3 so I'll try and see if I can get good photos. She thinks the computer and the Mars light cause the seizures. I got some of those glasses for LED lights and they are too dark for my eyes. So I don't use them to look close with my normal glasses on. So expect some photos if my binoculars work and work with my camera.

That must have been one hell of a wave. Hopefully you can see something in binoculars, and remember, you can turn the light off for pics. It only takes me 5 minutes to do a pic session and I keep light off. Well, time to make coffee and see about getting some pics

If you can get more pics like that but with natural light. We will def be able to tell the trich color.

Nice ebb n flow outdoor garden man. I want to do that in my grow room someday.

Cheers.

It isn't ebb and flow as I understand ebb and flow. The buckets are filled with perlite in a 5 gallon paint strainer, really a net bag. The nutes flow constantly and overflow into the pvc drain and back into the rez. The lettuce and Bok Choy get constant feeding too. You could say the upper part is a "sort of" NFT and the bottom are "sort of" constant feed Hempy Buckets. I didn't know that when I put the system together in 2011. But I'll tell you it works great. I need the cable up so I can support the tomato vines. The T looking post has another one on the left end of the deck. Cable goes between them. If I lived in CO I would grow autos outside like this. Have to cover rez with a roof. I had not replaced it when I took the picture. Nutes get hot. When they do I put frozen bottles of water in the rez.

I've had two cups already. I've been up for three hours. Can't wait to see your pics. Wife just got home and she's going out for the bino's. My lights are off from 8 PM to 12 PM. I'll turn them off. Finally got the wife to turn on the A/C. Tent considerable cooler.

Taking pictures of an LED garden, I just flip the switch on the surge protector and turn it off (that's what I use as the power switch for my Mars II anyway). I happen to have a lamp stand in my room too and sometimes turn it on for a few minutes to get my pics. Of course having flash on your camera is necessary too, but 4-6 quick pics and turn the surge protector back on. Easy, peasy.

Hey Payton ! I forgot about something. The 40/60 rule! Not sure if this works for all strains.
Your plant will stretch for 40% of flowering stage. The other 60% is bud production. To figure out your strain, time your stretch in days. Then just just this equation.

Number of days stretch x 2.5 = number of days from start to finish.

My pk stretches for 21 x 2.5 = 52.5 days. 7.5 weeks. The other .5 of a week is up to the harvester how what they want there trichomb ratio to be.

I forgot this is how I figured out my strain, along with observing the trich cloudyness and color. Funny it took me a day to remember this and I was so amaized when I found this info online lol brain works in mysterious ways the older ya get I tell ya lol

Cheers maybe you can go back through and figure when she stopped stretching.

That's pretty cool. I've never heard of that. I think that would put mine around 70 days. Thanks for the info, now I at least have a number to look forward to! So I still have about a month, which when I say it out loud makes me sad again lol
