I'm good there for once. Got plenty of strains to grow this year. Hopefully I find another keeper strain so I can go perpetual and stop spending money on seeds. Gonna slowly but surely perfect growing the HGK.
 
are all the different strains really that different now days? just curious. so much inter breeding done, so few pure strains. i know maybe the smell and looks are different, but what about the actual drug? i am asking because i don't know.

i have a package arriving soon as well, my first venture into the highly overpriced game of seed banking. banking is right.

opinions on my seeds?

the lemon haze seems to be a classic,, but is probably not at all suited to my methods,, but gonna try.

the others i have no real idea about and with just one seed, what are my odds of success? low i'd say for rookie me,, but practice will get me high.

i need to read up on this feminization as well. everything has it's trade off, i get more odds of females but what am i giving up?

skunny,, thanks for the welcome, i am taking your advice and going with the first sign of flower as the start of flowering. using this method certainly explain why the plant i have in flower now is taking so long to finish,, near the end of week ten now,, guess that would be right on to where i thought it should be, if i add the extra two weeks of 12/122 that showed no flower yet. great info, thanks. cheers to you as well

I plan on going perpetual with a few keeper strains but I think cloning from regs may be better than cloning fems over the long term. I could be wrong & it's just a hunch :) I hear ya on perfecting HGK, try various techniques & see what produces more.

Nivek, there are many many strains that give you completely different highs & they all differ in strength & the scope for breeding them is infinite as each combination will offer something different. You can categorize them quite simply though as sativa, indica & mixes of the two. The reason behind hybrid strains is for the breeding to extract a good trait from one strain & mix that with a good trait from a different strain.
You have chosen your seeds well but single seeds are always a gamble. Not every seed is destined to germinate but you could be lucky & get 100% success, it's a roll of the dice:)
You'd be doing the right thing to signal the start of flower when you see the 1st signs of flower. As an example, if you veg for 1 month on 18/6 it might take 2-3 weeks of 12/12 to start flowering. If you veg for 2 months on the GLR it might only take 3 days to start flowering.

Strains are very different nowadays. Selective breeding helps bring out the best, and each strain will have its own little nuances. I think you'll have success with single seeds. I haven't had a bought seed not pop yet. That white widow sounds like it'll be fun. I have a white widow x big bud for my first grow of season and excited to get her in the ground.
With feminization, you get your female seeds, but the feminized females don't grow as vigorously as the regulars. But you don't waste any time weeding through males, so it's worth it to me.
 
all great info, ingested thankfully. i am excited to try a new 'known' strain. my only experience is with one gifted puny plant and her clone babies. i will try the lemon haze first to practice my propagating techniques.

new q if i might. my plant in flower now is so close to ready, this is where it sits,, about 50/50, clear/cloudy and if i look real hard i can find an amber trichome. maybe one or two ambers a bud. smell is divine btw. should i wait or should i pick?? that is the question. right now it is in hour 42 of 48 hrs darkness. i just read here somewhere where a member left his plants in 5 days of darkness

i do not want to rush, i wish to see this plant to it's full potential, if i can

it is so starved because i flushed and went to water only way too early because of my improper calculation of it's flower time. i was going by when i first changed the light sequence.

the buds are flimsy and airy but i have been picking and testing the last few weeks and it sure is tasty cheers, nivek
 
If you want a head high, pull her in a few days. If you want body/couchlock high, then let her go another 3 weeks. The haze should be good for practicing your training skills, cause she'll get leggy if you don't. A nice flat even canopy is great for led and CFL growing
 
wow, that long still!! my patience is definitely being tested here. ok then,, there are, i think, 4 branches left,, i will go from top to bottom every three days. decided. i had intended to pick it this aft and did pick one branch already (my lack of patience costs me big in the market too).

an even canopy is my goal, indeed, and i have two coming nicely now. when i put them together it looks like the top of the amazon rain forest,, too cool. i am leaving some minor branches for cloning as well after it starts flowering,, i love the branchy plant, oh, just like yours,

Waiting is the hardest part, especially getting closer to harvest. Just hold out and wait, they usually pack some pretty good weight in the last 2 weeks. I've cut a few of my plants early, which was good cause then I had smoke, but not as much or as good of quality as I would have gotten if I just waited 2 or 3 weeks. And the stuff you dry will be awesome, but if you can, let it cure for a month. My HGK was good after it dried, but became mind blowing when it was cured for a month.
 
one thing i have noticed with this plant as it is maturing is that if one were to go by the often printed method of deciding maturity by the pistils turning orange or brown, then this plant would have been picked long ago. i have not seen a new pistil in two weeks, maybe three, and only the rarest of amber trichomes still. trichomes only to tell ripeness.

although i stopped feeding way too early and maybe this is not a good example. cheers, nivek
 
Hey all, I raised my light an inch about 10 days ago and all colas grew that extra inch! I just wanted the Mars II 900 to be more than 12" above the main colas. I guess 12" of 900 watts isn't a bad thing. Eh?

I have a bunch of milky trichomes now and a couple colas have some amber. I might harvest the most milky this week, only about 4 of the top colas first off. Need some medicinal oil, as usual.

Skunny... Just for the sh!ts, I raised the light one inch and all the colas grew that extra inch in two days. I guess 12" from the plant won't bother it. I'm keeping my eye on her trichomes. I want a majority of milky. I'm watching her for the earliest time I can do some cutting.

Yea man Peyton. I am ready to see the end of this grow. Won't start another until after March. I haven't gotten my latest order yet, so I think it got grabbed by the P.O. inspector in NYC. I guess I'll be doing another Fast and Vast in March. Next time I buy from Canada.

I'll let you know how the oil turns out. I'm in hospital to have some tests done tomorrow morning. Need the oil to help my health issues. Sucks getting old.

Sorry Denver won't be in the Big Game.

It's all good. Their game play hasn't been great the last few weeks and yesterday was just bad. We'll see if he retires or not first, then go from there. Now I can focus all my energy on the girls again

now which ones do i pick to try? one lemon for sure and i think an afghani. only going to do two for my first try,, well, first real try for indoor growing. who has not grown pot seeds before? everyone. who has grown pot seeds before intending to take them to full maturity? not so many. so, i don't have room for more than two i think,,

i think i will germinate by the tissue method,, don't see why not, i have a great dark warm spot on top of my hot water tank, easy access. i am excited to grow something i actually know what the strain is. i am so sure the plant will be so different from the only one strain i have in my lab. cheers for now, nivek.

btw, first i thought they were birth control pills,, they used to look kinda like this,, ha,, kidding
 
Sounds like solid choices nivek. I still germinate seeds in the old paper towel fashion.

I'll be posting pics in a little while. Took them with my phone, so we'll see how they come out cause my other camera I've been using is old and crappy
 
About a week or two on the fast and vast, and hopefully less than a month left on my PC plants. HGK monstercrop might go into March, anything left after that better be finished or its getting chucked out the room for modifications and next round of strains
