Perpetual Pics

Josh, you're my 2lt Soda Pop Pot mentor & hero; Just in case you didn't know.

Pardon my absence. Things have been going well with the garden. I am really liking the Botanicare Special Blend nutrients I switched to. Resin and terepene production is the best I have ever done. I think I have achieved maximum yield for my set up. Depending on what strain I have running I am pulling close to a dried lb/month.

Now that I have reached my comfort zone I'm going to try changing things some. I have 4 rooted clones in 3.5 gallon Hempys. My plans are to veg them for two months and heavily train them. I hope by that time I will be able to afford new lights. I've thought long and hard about this-over two years of thinking. I've decided to go with one of the new Galvita (how ever it's spelled) 1000 watt double-ended ballast. They are supposed to run at 1200 watts on full power. I plan on running it on 220 volts.

Down the road I will purchase a 4'x8' Gorilla Lite Line tent. Then another 1000 watt lamp. That's my plan. It's going to take me a while to get to that point. I'm pretty sure I have gotten a second job which will help tremedousley. I"ll try and get some pictures up as soon as I can but it's nothing you guys haven't seen before.

Understandable.

I finally got a new computer. It's junk so I'm returning it later in the week.

I simply haven't had the time to keep up with my indoor garden. I lost two entire crops because I had forgotten to water them. Reminds me, I need to water tonight. I'll try to get some pics.

I have some new genetics coming my way. They include710 Genetics G13 Hashplant, Sensi Northern Lights, Next Generation Dynamite (Indica dominant Grapefruit), Reserva Privada OG #18, Dinafem OG Kush, Samsara Punky Lion, DNA Genetics Florida OG. Free seeds include Paradise Seeds Delahaze, Paradise Seeds Nebula, and some regular Afgahni Kush. I'm pretty happy with the selection but forgot to order a Cookies Kush bean.

Welcome back.

I still have you on speed dial Josh.

I didn't see anything photo worthy the other night. I haven't changed anything too much since the last go around. Only thing different is I'm growing 100% organically now. I purchased a new Hortilux 600 watt HPS bulb. I'm also going back to the 3.5 gallon Hempys instead of the 2 liters.

I was unexpectedly laid off yesterday. My company has a lot of bids out, but I don't have a definitive return to work date. Unfortunately this is going to seriously set me back towards new improvements. I really need to get a larger grow tent. It's either that or convert an entire 12'x12' bedroom into a flowering room. I may look at doing that as it would most likely be cheaper.

I'd still like to switch to LED lights but they are so expensive up front. Decisions decisions. But I can't do much other than grow until I'm working steady again. It's a vicious cycle. I just got done working 12 hr days, with an added 1 1/2 drive time, 7 days a week. Made good money, got caught up on bills, but I was too tired to grow. Now I have the time, but no $$$. I'll figure something out.

I don't plan on posting any pics until I see pistols, should be within the week. I have three Holy Grail Kushes in the flowering tent. I went to reestablish a mother Purple Kush, saved the best clone from that cycle. For some unknown reason she died. So I currently only have the HG and my Blue Berry leaning phenol of Blue Blood. New beans should be in within the week. I have three strains ordered that are supposed to finish under 50 days. So, By October I should be in fine shape.

I find it hard to believe it's been nearly three months since I've last posted. Time flies. So I'll do my best to get everyone caught up with what's been going on.

So a bit of bad news. I lost that last crop that was going in the 3.5 gallon Hempys. I think it was caused by a number of factors. It was a very hot summer. 126 F for two days, over two months of 100 F + temps. I bought a bag of #3 perlite. Some of the chunks were over 1" across. This was huge compared to the stuff from Home Schmeepo. The vermiculite could not mix sufficiently. And, I think I veged them too long. One day, about three weeks from harvest they went from looking good to dead-over night. So I went back to the 2 liters because it's what I know.

I had a friend stop growing. He gave me a brand new Lighthouse Hydro 4'x4' tent that is my new flowering tent. He also gave me all the plants he had. At the time I thought this was good because I was giving him clones. I was hoping to find another one of the Purple Kushes in the mix. Dumb ass didn't label them when he transplanted them so neither one of us had a clue to the strains. Bad thing was they came with 2 spotted spider mites. I sprayed them twice with Sierra Natural 217 and watered with 209 but it didn't kill them all. I was just over my infestation of some other type of mite and these showed up and for the first time in the flowering tent. I'm still unhappy about it but life moves on. I think I own nearly every organic miticide on the market and keep rotating the applications. I'm winning but the war isn't over.

Looks like all the new plants my friend gave me were TGA Marion Berry Kush. Included was a mother plant in a three gallon pot with Promix that I immediately through into flower. There was also, I think 5 in straight perlite Hempys, another large one that I have going in a 2 gallon pot for use as a mother, and two in 1/2 gallon pots with Promix. I'm going to get a bag of Promix so that I can transplant them into larger pots and flower those other two out.

I'm not familiar with Marion Berry Kush but it seems to get great reviews. I broke my nose about a month ago. My sense of smell is only about 50%. I just get a "dank" odor coming from it. She's quite the beast, probably about the 5th largest plant I've grown indoor. I have her staked and super cropped the largest colas. Looks like I'll get around two zips dried from her. A very pretty plant covered in trics. I'd take pictures of here but that'll have to wait for the lights to come on.

I'm still rocking my pheno of Holy Grail Kush. She's still my favorite. Still have my Blue Blood. I have around six of them flushing right now. I bought new genetics. I was really looking forward to Next Generation's Dynamite, an indica grapefruit. She died shortly after forming the second set of leaves. No idea why.

I had another one called Punky Lion, Chronic x Matanuska Thunder. I popped that bean like every other one in damp paper towels in a Ziploc bag. Planted here after she cranked, then nothing-just disappointment. The other new strains I have going are The OG #18; one of the Holy Grail Kush's parents, Cali Connection's G13 Hashplant, Dinafem's OG Kush, Florida OG from DNA Genetics or reserva Privada (supposed to be the original OG Kush), and a free seed from Paradise called Nebula. The latter is supposed to be near 100% sativa. Not my favorite but I'm willing to give it a try.

I took one clone from each of the new strains but they all died in the cloner. Not very encouraging considering the other three strains in there had 100% success. May have been do to their young age or that they were taken from the very top of the plant. I'll be cleaning out the cloner shortly and am going to give them another try. If I can't get them to clone they'll go into Promix and be flowered out. At least I'll get a small taste from each one.

So now I have the old 2'x4' tent for more veg space. That will be nice. I brought an Italian parsley and a rosemary plant in from the cold and would like to keep them going. I think what I'm going to do is, would have to be one at a time, buy two-maybe eventually three Mars Hydro Pro Series Cree 128s for the flowering tent. Then put my cool tube HID in the 4'x4' veg tent with a MH bulb. Then I'd move all the CFL's and half the florescents into the 2'x4' tent. Sounds like a plan to me.

I'm still running Botanicare Pro Blend organics. I'm not quite 100% organic as I'm working on using up some older bloom boosters. My goal is to, by Christmas be 100% organic and have two of the Pro Series lights. My local hydro shop doesn't carry the complete hydro line, neither does Perfect Gardens. I was able to find it in an all-inclusive kit online so that's the route I'm going to go.

Prior to ordering the last beans I mentioned it to another friend. He wanted me to pick up a Northern Lights with the agreement that I'd start the mother and keep him in clones. I went with Sensi because, from what I can tell, they have the original. Well, he up and took off to Houston for work. Last I talked to him he changed his mind. I haven't heard from him in two months. I'm staring at the package now. It's tempting...

The order also came free another Nebula, a Paradise Dela Haze which I'm not interested in and six regular Afganis. I'll pop the Afganis, it's one of my favs and I regret killing it, but not now. I'm going to wait until I make some room in the 4'x4' tent and have the 2'x4' tent going.

I'll take the Blue Bloods down Wednesday. I want to give them a second Clearex flush tonight. Other than lack of pictures I think that about sums everything up. I'll get some pics up tonight

All right folks, here's the promised pics. First up is a Marion Berry Kush. She's about a week from meeting my Fiskars. Keep in mind, for sake of scale, that's a three gallon pot.

Here's some group shots. The duct tape holding the bamboo stake on the big MBK had come loose so she looks laid over.

Here's a typical Holy Grail Kush in a 2 liter Hempy. Here and some of here twins also appear to be a week out from harvest.

Finally I have a sample of Medicann's Ble Blood. I like this strain, very tasty and finishes in around eight weeks. I decided, after I take the clones out of the machine, to chop her. I know it's not the best but I'm going to put her in my food dehydrator to expedite drying. I've been out of medicine for over a week. I'll chop her sisters tomorrow and slow dry them.

Well, I guess I feel a little guilty from lack of recent participation. Honestly, I'm surprised the moderators didn't pull the plug on this journal for being abandoned.

But I really think I have everything under control. Think I have a solid, practical goal to make some improvements. I'm also more motivated. With winter coming in, just have to mow the lawn one more time, get the vegetable garden cleaned up, and get about six coords of fire wood---after that I'll have about six months or more to dedicate to the plants.

As always I'm still always doing research into potential new strains or new to me strains to try out. I wish I could find some Gorilla Glue #4 or Bruce Banner #3 seeds. There's now two recreational dispensaries 40 miles from my home but neither offer clones. Two friends grow Blue Dream. I've had a lot of it and would like to also grow that.

I tried the scissor hash from the Blue Blood I trimmed, hence I'm rambling. I better go get those clones transplanted.

This thread isn't under the regular grow journals forum - as a collection of 'bud photos' it won't normally get found and moved to abandoned journals.

I don't mind :)

Good to hear from you Josh. A lot of the newer members didn't know I got the 2lt Soda Pop Pots from you. After a year and 1/2 of perpetually growing in nothing but 2lts I'm hanging up my hat and going big again. But for the record if anyone wants a large variety of different strains without using too much real estate 2lts are the way to go.

Thanxx again Josh.
