I live in Colorado and they pack their tap with all kinds of crap where I’m at. I don’t even drink it... I have my water delivered from Eldorado Springs about an hour away in the mountains.
We crack jokes when folks act off, and say “they must be drinking the tap”. Lol!

It needs to be paired with carbon filters to remove the chlorine, then the RO filter will remove the ammonia. If your setup is an actual system paired with carbon filters, you’re good.

  • Carbon filters remove the chlorine portion of the molecule leaving the ammonia behind hence it requires another stage of filtration such as reverse osmosis to remove it.

Vitamin C filters – For showers this works better than other types at removing chloramines.

  • It takes about 1,000 mg of vitamin C (ascorbic acid form) to remove chloramines from 40 gallons of water.

Reverse osmosis units do remove chloramines as they generally have a couple carbon filters but they often produce large amounts of salt (sodium) in the water which can also cause problems if used to water plants.

Nice! I think most “systems” have one, but apparently a stand alone RO filter does not pick up the ammonia.
After reading that article and explaining it to my wife, she was trying to talk me into buying a Vitamin C shower head. Lol!
Yes... they have them.

I think you just have to refill it monthly with snake oil and blinker fluid for it to work though. Lol!

I forgot I had the seedlings out side yesterday because it was so nice I thought I would let them get some sun. One is above ground the other isn't. It got down in the 40s last night but the one that's above ground looks fine so I left them out. It is in the 50s now. It also rained last night so the saucers were full. I emptied the saucers out and didn't put them back under the pots so the pots could drain. I hope they are OK. I will bring them back inside in a few hours

Oh pcaddict you can have some bad luck sometimes I hope they are ok to

I'm really interested in this chloramine topic. The water here is a little hard but not bad out of the hose. I fill a 5gal bucket and let it sit outside overnite then lower the PH a bit an mix on. There is a slight chlorine smell if you drink it. A water co. put a filter in once and there was barely a difference on the meter between filtered and non. I've been using this water for the greenhouse and gardens of course but am wondering if it will adversely affect my plant in coco. Don't know what the water co. here uses but the smell is gone if you leave a glass of water out a bit. Buzzin on a vape of Afghani. Love the medicine pine flavor. Stay safe and healthy and stoned! :volcano-smiley::yummy::peace:

All I use is tap water, if works for tomatoes it’ll work for cannabis.
You can also survive on eating rotten food, but I prefer freshly cooked...

You know your cooked fresh produce is highly likely not grown using ro water and it definitely is not using ascorbic acid to neutralize anything. I use tap water cause wasting water with an ro system is out of the question. My herb is always clean burning and when I have had flowers tested in the past they passed all screenings for market flower standards. No heavy metals or any mold or mildew. And you can’t say this is rotten

That is interesting 2 Top growers that use tap water.... Anyone else using tap water, I love these kind of discussions. There is So many ways to grow Cannabis

I was just wondering when do the effects of chloramine become visible in plants and does it cause an N lockout?

If I was running living soils or docs kit I would be a little more careful of water to take care of the microbe herd. But most commercial food crops grown at scale are sure as hell not using ro water.

It won’t cause a N lockout. The chloramine won’t effect the plant really it just hinders the microbe population within the medium.

Thanks shotta! :ciao: The coco is doing well and I'm just looking for bumps up the road.:peace::volcano-smiley:
