Papaya Goes Soil - CFL - 2nd Grow - Soil Grow Journal

Update!!

Thanks for sticking around Nwgrower. Sorry you have to ask for an update =(. Just been very busy with everything.

Everythings going good! Almost 2 weeks into 12/12 and the bud production is starting! Still tucking under the scrog as the stretch is still full effect. Going to stop tucking by the end of next week. She is requiring more watering sessions now. Here are some pics!

Thanks everyone! Im really loving this soil grow. Its very easy! I forget about them for a few days after i water them lol...

These 2 papayas are starting bud production now. Im hoping the stretch is pretty much over because im going to stop tucking at this point. The canopy is fairly even except for one or two tops that sprung from a stem that was growing horizontal. I cant tuck these because they would break. I might have to train them a little to keep it even from here on out.

I hope everything goes good. There is over 60 tops that i hope will be colas if there's enough light! a LOT more than my last 1 plant. If all of these grow like the last big colas..... WOW is all im going to say.

Still on the edge with my move also.... I may be able to finish this grow at least before my move. So thats good news. Im so excited to do a grow with a HPS though.... Hopefully soon!

Very nice setup hunter!!!
Subscribed to this journal, I want to see how they come around...
I like that scrog setup a lot, might try it myself soon.

Thanks for all the compliments everyone!!!
:thanks::high-five:
Pic update! I will start updating more now that im in flower! This is the best part! I watered with 7.0 pH'ed water today. The pH is lower than i want it to be. Runoff pH is around 6.0 and im starting to see a few small deficiencies on a few leaves. Going to try and rise it over the next few waterings. Everything is looking good though! I added some SWEET Raw today to help with bud production. They always grow so much after a watering. Im having to water every 3 days now.

I was wrong on the budsites on my last post. I counted over 100 tops with buds. This is going to be very interesting over the next couple of weeks! Cant wait to see what they do. Im very proud of these two soil girls so far.

So i seem to have a small pH problem and hope someone can give me a few tips... I know my pH had dropped from last two waterings. I had already planned on a flush today. My water was 7.0 pH (naturally) so i flushed each girl with 4 gallons. Thats all the jugs of water i had. Got at least 2 gallon or more run off from each girl. My run at the end was still only 5.2 - 5.4.... So what can i do next or what SHOULD i do next?

They needed a flush anyway from all the nutrient and salt build up.

Im seeing small deficiencies on about 5-10 leaves and a nitrogen deficiency on some of my tops already.

Any tips from the soil growers!?!?!?!

:thankyou:

Thanks mcnasty, Im going to buy some more water jugs so i can do another flush next watering. I didnt really flush with enough water im guessing. With all the nute build up it has been slowly lowering the pH the whole time. So i will just give it a good 10 gallon flush and get it where i need it to be hopefully. Ive been doing some reading and read some things that say to keep flushing until it gets in a range thats manageable or where you want it. Im wanting to get my runoff to at least 6.0-6.5.

Just ordered my 600 watt cool tube kit with Dimmable Digital Ballast and hortilife HPS bulb! Pretty excited! It will be here by Friday. Flushing the girls good today and installing the light this weekend. Bud production is about to be underway!!

Update Time!

CaptainFrost, Thanks for the compliments!

To answer your questions so far i love the smart pots. This is my first cannabis soil grow and the smart pots is what i chose to use. In my opinion you want your soil to dry out faster thats the advantage of using smart pots. Everytime i water they grow so much its crazy. With the 5 gallon smartpots i dont have to water but every 3 days so far and can go 4 and possible 5 days. They also keep plenty of oxygen at your root zone. The only issue im having right now is a pH issue and thats because i had nute and salt buildup. Make sure you water enough to have some run off and to keep your soil flushed properly. I would never use anything smaller than 5 gallon on any photoperiod plants. I have considered to use 3 gallon on autoflowering plants if i ever do any. Next i may try the air pots to see how they do... Or i may just stick with my smart pots. I give them an excellent rating.

My tent is a 4 X 4 x 7 Lighthouse Hydro tent. It has all metal construction with metal joints. For a $135 price tag its the best tent on the market in my opinion. If a sponsor wants to challenge that then PM me...

Ok so on with the update!!!

My HPS will be here friday! I cant believe how cheap the light system was... I still have saw nothing that proves led is better than HPS... Every grow i have saw with led that looked awesome they could have done the same thing or better with HPS. I see no advantage of spending double or triple for a LED light... Even then heat from the HPS is a plus because it will heat my rooms here in the winter (one of the main points for me purchasing it). But i love new technology and i may still purchase one in the future to try out! But right now its HPS! This is just my opinions! Dont take it to heart if you are a LED grower =).

These girls are looking a lot better since my small flush 4 days ago... Today i flushed with 10 gallons of water EACH. I now have my soil pH around 6.0 which is a lot better than 5.0... Im hoping this flush will really help them. I added nutes at 1/2 strength to the last 2 gallons and gave each girl 1 gallon of 1/2 nutes pH'ed to 7.0.

Check out the pics! Bud production is going good so far with my CFL's!
