Papaya Goes Soil - CFL - 2nd Grow - Soil Grow Journal

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Update! Everything is going good! Bought a bag of play sand and i now have papaya 1 and 2 topped off with 2 inches of sand! Also added 2 extra CFL's. Im ready to get these girls MORE LIGHT!!!

A few of the leaves are only growing 2 pedals im guessing this is because I took the clones while in flower and they are technically revegging right now... They should start to grow normal after a few weeks!

They are taking off now in the 5 gallon pots! I can see change everyday. I was hoping they would hold off until i cleared my tent in 2-3 weeks!

Welcome Nwgrower! If you are interested in the Papaya (Mango) Strain come and check out my Hydro papaya also in my signature below. Shes going to be ready to harvest in a few weeks! Thanks for joining.

Update: Every thing is going good. They have really took to those 5 gallon pots and are really growing. I NEED MORE LIGHT!!!! I might try and come up with something to add more this weekend.

Hey Anthos! Yea i put sand just as a preventative. I had something in my Hydro grow and still to this day dont really know what it was... It didnt happen until i brought my soil grow in... So i put the sand just in case. I dont know where these critters came from. I hope that that will be all of my bug problem. Those fly strips really help to if you have em bad!

i have a daisy cloner. used it twice. i was not impressed. i do two diffeerent ways. the one i like the most, is directly into soiless mix. or seeding mix. we dont want any, but tiny amounts of nutes. i use the 3 inch square pots. i put the mix, into a container, and moisten it up with water ph'd to like under 6. i ad a couple drops per gallon of he water, with superthrive. pill the pots with this soaking wet mix. poke lil holes in each planter, for clones to drop in. dip the clones in your favorite cloner. i use vita gro liquid. i dip and hold for six seconds. put clone, that has had most of its leaves trimmed off, like half, in and tamp with fingers around stem. spray with water. put into dome for some high humidity, for say 3 days. VERY LITTLE LIGHT. i use a small cfl, and its only off to the side, for that three days. then, gradually move the light over them. remove the lid, after the 3-4 days, or you risk mold. should be fine. since they are in "soil", no need to check the roots. they will grow, and no hurry to trransplant, until the plants "tell you" by starting to grow. but no hurry!then have room! after they perk up, you can add a small amount of gro food to em. i have nearly a 100% survival. depends on the strein. some are buggers. my god is great. best i ever had, was jack herer. my other method, is using the rapid rooters. thats what mine are in now. sitting in a tray, of water, about 3/4 inch deep. all else the same, other wise. your girls look happy. i still have to go out and kill the last two plants, so i can continure with my disenfecting for mites. hope i get em all. beach, should do it. lol. then, to restart my gods.....

These girls are exploding!!! I only have 6 CFL's on the side of them lol.... My hydro papaya will be harvested in 2 weeks if these clones can hold out they will be going in the tent! They are almost outgrowing this box i made for them. I raised the light about as much as i can.

Thanks everyone! I dont really even have to check on these plants much... Very low maintenance right now. I water about every week or so right now. They will get a lot thirstier soon!

So lets talk about root growth and penetration! I cant believe it but these clones roots have already stretched through this 5 gallon pot! All the way to the bottom! I could not believe this when i saw it!

How do I know? Well the plastic container i had to catch the runoff at the bottom were the exact size of the smart pots. I learned today that they are not going to work. For one the smart pot cant get air like it should at the bottom. And also the roots are growing through the smart pot into the container!!!! Im glad i caught this early. Im guessing once the roots hit the smart pot they usually stop growing or the ends dry up. So i now have wider 14 inch thin plastic bottoms. Pretty neat!

Here is a few updated pics!

Ok everyone! Watering was today. There was 2 fan leaves with very little droop... She was for sure thristy! She took 1.5 gallons each with very little run off.... Also defoliated the lower fan leaves. I hope that me taking about 8 fan leaves from each will slow her down a little!!! I need a little more time lol....

Wow the growth of these after a watering is UNBELIEVABLE!!

Ok everyone! These girls are really SMELLING so I came up with a plan for them... So i now put them in my tent in the morning time and take them out at night back into there box. They were just smelling to strong during the day. Through the night it doesn't matter. This has solved my smell issue i was having!

Pics later tonight on these beautiful girls... Im really loving this soil grow so far! SO EASY!!!!!! We will see when i have to start adding nutes :high-five:

UPDATE TIME!

Ok everyone i am now taking my soil papayas and putting them in the tent during the day due to smell issues. I take them out before my hydro girl goes to sleep. Smell at nights is not an issue just during the day. They are really growing a LOT!

Have you done any training on these gals hunter?

No training as of yet... I was going to do some but i dont have any room to do it... Im almost out of room at this point until my hydro girl finishes this weekend or next! They are getting SO BIG! They are getting dry and im scared to water them because when i do they shoot up at least 4 inches all over after watering.

Edit to add: My plan is to throw them in the tent and put a scrog over them and start training then and filling the screen up. Once Full i will start flowering.
