Paddy Goes Auto for the Winter

all good mate , just getting on with things . do you keep soil damp at all times , i see people like to dry it out to its light to lift , im started to not agree with that , im sort of given them 3 litres once a week so they are kind of half the weight between dry and soaked if that makes sense ??

think they are 12 litre pots ?

If your soil dries out anywhere for too long then roots in that region will die. The water will take the path of least resistance through the pot so dry areas may stay dry. That's what I have read and it make sense to me. When you first pour water onto dry multi-purpose compost it doesn't want to soak in straight away as it's dry and sits on top before finally soaking in. The same can be said of dry areas in the pot. If the water can sit on dry compost on top of the pot for a short moment then what chance has running water got to soak into dry compost inside the pot. It will just run over it. These Fluxed ladies are the last plants to get bottled nutes from me. It's all organic for the rest now.

happy days , they are gona love you mate

so what do you think of bottom feeding / watering

Yeah that is okay for watering in organics with plain water but I would not do it with nutes as you really want to be flushing old nutes through with the next lot of nutes and it's easy to flush with clean water. You want old nutes(salt) getting pushed down and out rather than be sucked up and stored if you get what I mean.

yeahh i understand , ive been reading up on this living organic soil and making super soils that you just water , i only give little trevor bottle nutes the rest get my tea/brew sometimes with molasses and little epsoms

I've got plenty of cooked soil and made another 80 litres today and yesterday which will be for the outdoor girls. It will be ready for the end of April. A minimum of one month to cook with two optimum.

I found a local source today foot those red wiggle worms. Looking forward to making my own worm pooh, or collection what they made ;)

Plus, those feckers will attract some good fish on my son's pole in our backyard...

Like the LOS method....

Dolomite is good.

I bought a book called 'True Living Organics' - The ultimate guide to growing all natural marijuana indoors. It has some good recipes for organic soil with tea recipes too. It also covers recycling the soil when you have harvested. If you need any info just ask mate. This also applies to anybody reading this thread who would like help.

Yes you can add the bad to the good and bubble for a couple of days with molasses. If you have used nutes on the mix then no you will not get good bacteria back easily. If you have not used nutes then the mix should have good bacteria already so the tea drench is good. Do not add the lime, rock dust or blood and bone with your current plants. They need cooking time. If you have spare soil about then think of cooking a mix.

Since you offered, I'm interested in finding out the best way to re-use a soil mixture after growing/harvesting plants with it. My best friend and I grow "together" (simultaneous grows, I'm DWC/Top Feed Hydro and he's soil/vermiculite/etc) and as we were cutting down his latest harvest this past weekend we both looked over at the pots and had the same thought: can we use this soil again?
