Oz's First Grow - Pyramid Tut In Coco

Hi DP....thank you so much your input I really appreciate it :) I've never grown anything before....and I do mean ANYTHING lol so it's all new to me lol. I think I've been VERY lucky with my choice of autos though. These have grown so easily. Literally pop n grow with minimal training (I have topped one for LAs entertainment lol). Regards the flushing, I'm planning on one more feed for the LA Diva then flush with PH'd water for a week or so before chop. The other autos aren't as amber so I was thinking another week of feed THEN flush. I've got a large fan blowing though them at the mo.....they "dance" nicely :) Thanks again mate.....I really respect your reputation as a top grower and AUTO expert :) Have some +Reps from me :)

He he Ive kept telling him he has a while left lol. He just wont listen though :)
Its great to have you back Dp.

Lol...you know me mate...a PROPER flapper lol :) I really appreciate all the opinions of TOP growers like you guys :)

Mate....you ARE a MATE :) You're generous to a fault in your help, encouragement, inspiration and patience :) If you ever feel the need to talk......you've got my contact details...don't be shy to use them :) :Namaste: :peace: :circle-of-love:

i was the same, i harvested early a few times and ended up losing a lot of yield, the last 2 weeks of growth the buds really harden up so the longer you leave them the more solid the buds will be, i leave my plants now until all the pistils have turned orange, but leaving them in flower that long does put you at risk of hermies so if you leave none autos in flower longer than normal then keep checking for hermies, chances are if it hermies in the last week or 2 then it still wont produce seeds but i check just in case.

with autos i dont normally check as autos grow, flower then die so they dont try to reproduce as much as none autos do, as long as your air flow is good which it sounds like it is then you can leave them as long as you like, just keep checking the trichomes and harvest when your happy with it,

just remember to either check the trichomes under day light conditions or under daylight bulbs, checking the trichs under hps or flower stage lights will give you false readings so its best to check under daylight or white light.
if your not checking trichomes then the old method of harvesting was based on the way the pistils looked, anything with more than 75% brown/orange pistils was pretty much ready to harvest, so the cloesr you get to 100% brown or orange pistils the better.

id stop the nutes at around 100% cloudy myself but if you wanted to harvest at 100% cloudy then id flush at around 90% cloudy.

with organic nutrients you dont need to flush or even stop using nutrients, when ive used organics ive never noticed a difference in bud quality, but if your using synthetics then id flush or stop feeding at least 2 weeks before harvest, i dont flush my plants anymore i just stop feeding 2 weeks before harvest, i find flushing can cause a slow down in development if the growing medium does not dry out quick enough,

Excellent info again D.P :) I thank you :Namaste:
I'm growing in coco which drains really quickly and is pretty dry a day or so after feeding. I'm using Canna A+B (synthetic) nutes and this last week I've added Canna Boost and PK13/14. They haven't had much to be honest.....only 3 feeds INCLUDING todays :) I've never really had them outside the tent so it is difficult to accurately judge just HOW amber they are. I remember LA telling me that the best time to "harvest" was when the leaves drop off because its dead lol :) He is SO wise :)

lol, well it would be ready to harvest when the leaves drop off, but if you keep giving it nutes the leaves wont drop off, they possibly would with an auto but a photo plant will keep green until you kill it or stop feeding.

looks like the set up your using is getting good amounts of oxygen to the roots, this really does help with growth and bud size, its why i grow a dwc along with my soil grown plants, i know for a fact that dwc and hydro grows at least twice as quick as soil grown plants and produces buds twice the size, so clearly the extra oxygen at the roots really benefits the plants, i water a lot less often now and my soil plants really do much better when i let them get really dry compared with watering when the top few inches was dry.

what you can do to check the trichomes is to cut off one of the sweet leaf sticking out of the buds, if you cant move the plant out the room then cut a small leaf off thats poking out the buds and covered in trichs then take that into natural light, that will give you the same info the buds will,

its best to sample leaves at difrerent parts of the plant as the top of the plant will develop quicker than the bottom, so pull a leaf off the top buds and one at half way down and then one at the bottom and check it under a scope in daylight.
that will give you a good idea of whats going and when the plant is ready to harvest, the plants in the back of my room i cut leaves off at the end of flower to inspect as its easiler than moving all the plants out,

so if you got a scope of a good magnifying glass then its easy to check, if you dont have a good scope then i got mine of flea bay for £0.99p so next to nothing, its about the size of a match box and has 60x magnifycation so works perfect, i think its for testing bank notes as it has a white led on it and a uv led on it so must be for checking bank notes or something along them lines,

Cheers D.P .....I'm lapping all this great info up :) I've got one of those scopes too :) "Jewellers Loupe" it's called :) My son has got a great magnifying app on his phone too...(that's what he used to get those bud close ups) :). I'll pop a few leaves off this week and check them properly.....at the moment they look REALLY frosty :)

i hadnt thought about my phone, ill give it a try next time,

might be a better option if the phone takes good pics, i got the new samsung so ill give that a try tomorrow and see what kind of detail i can get, i know when i went out metal detecting the other day and found an 800 year old silver my phone was the only way i could see the detail on the coin and thats how i found out how old it was, so ill give it a try on the plants, the phone worked better than using the jewelers loop as i could zoom in a whole lot more and could see a lot more detail,

plus reps for the phone idea, its got to be worth a try

Thanks D.P...my sons phone is the Samsung Galaxy (G4?) . I'm as technical as a brick so it all goes over my head lol. It takes great pic though. He down loaded a magnifier app to get in REAL close lol :)

Hey OZ it's on mate, my seeds arrived today, got 10 all different strains, feminised. I got a couple of autos thrown in so I tossed 2 into a glass of water @ 1 into damp tissue in 2 dinner plates, one on top. Never paid for seeds before & got all these fancy strains, I'm shittin bricks hoping they pop before I crack the rest. Not sure what I will start them in yet, peat pots or rock wool or straight into coco pots.
Mate I got a couple of 24W T5 lights, reckon this is enough for seedlings or toss them straight into veg tent with 400w led.
Cheers, mate, hope your having a great day

Hi guys n gals.....thanks for the great info above.
Trichy...you never fail to make me chuckle buddy...I really don't know UNIVERSE let alone Planet you inhabit but Christ the oxygen must be thin lol :)
Gleny....buzzin for you mate :) I'm sure you'll do just fine...no worries :) If you need any advice mate just ask, the 420 community i right behind you :)

Apologies for my silence today but it's been a manic day...amazing how "life" encroaches upon my "tent time" on occasions lol :) Anyway, had the "boy" round all afternoon and we got our "Vidal Sasoon" heads on :) The Tutts got a MAJOR haircut and some equally major bending and twisting.....that's the last major one till flip now :) Here on in it'll be adjustments and trimming defol only (I hope lol)
The autos are CRAZY.....frosty as hell, smelly as can be and some REALLY big tight buds...oh happy DAZE :)

Here's a pic or 3 for you :)

Group shiver from the Tutt girls :)

Hey buddy...thank you so much :) :Namaste: I'm honest enough to confess to being more than a little bit chuffed with myself :) The Tutts are incredible and the autos just freak me at their size and growth rate :)
