Overlord's Lair

Yes sir, flat usually hard piece of gum.

Double bubble were larger barrel shaped also individually wrapped. Use to cost us 2 cents each, seems like I recall some stores had 3 for a nickel maybe. They also came out with apple and grape flavor.

They may still exist but I haven't looked in decades.
I bought a tub last year. Used it as filler in party favor bags for my son's birthday.

Bubblegum smell like those but better. :passitleft:

They were cool Hawk,..very cool cuz the only ammo u needed was a bag of navy beans from the grocery store.. :slide: .
I cant be the only one who played with those. ...:hmmmm:

Was it maybe a Canadian thing?

Dunno about that....could have been i guess. Wish i could find a pic of them...they looked like a small version of a 45 auto . Loaded beans in thru a slot on the top. Slide it closed and plink away ...they were such fun to play with.
Also...wat about the 'Johnny '7'....it was a rifle thing , that shot 7 different projectiles..bullets, grenades, missles, etc...ha. Ever heard of the Johnny '7'?

Couldn't find the 45 bean gun, but the Johnny 7 is out there.
Came out in 1964 and some are for sale between 100 and 200. Wikapedia even has a page on it.

Plants are looking fantastic as always OL!

In the mid/late 80's I was growing outdoors in South Florida Guerrilla style. Had several strains that I bought from the seed bank and bubble gum which came from a friend in Indiana

The hands down favorite was the skunk #1, the cut I kept and cloned smelled exactly like a skunk. A 1/4 ounce in a ziplock bag which was then put in a 1 gallon glass sun tea jar, then in a tool box in the trunk of my car. I could still smell it from 300 feet away. There seemed to be no way to hide it from a person's nose.

Moved up north in 91 and kept it until 96 when a snow storm took out our power for a couple of days. Lost them to the cold, but to this day if I smell a skunk that has sprayed or hit by a car it reminds me of those times.

People were getting tired of the skunk by the mid 90's and you had white widow, blueberry and whatever else high times was promoting that were trending.

I loved that skunk and have been chasing it ever since. Hope to find it or something close one day.

It is funny, I was reading a convo on IG where someone was saying that all the people who tell stories like this are misremembering or so new to cannabis that they had not yet gotten used to the smell. They did not believe any weed could be that foul after having smelt a skunk spray their dog. I had to laugh, I have had a few strains that were so loud it was ignorant. Some very skunky but probably not dead on skunk. The first few batches of Sour Diesel i ever came across could stink up a whole house with half a gram. I used to get some Humboldt County Orange Bud with a friend and it was the same way. There was no hiding the smell. I even got some Chiesel for a while that stunk for days. Me and my wife smoked half a bowl on our way to my moms, ten minutes after we finished we were pulling in and my brother was outside. He comes up and asks "WTF are you smoking right now! I could smell you before you pulled into the driveway!"
The driveway is at least 30 feet long and the bowl had been sitting idle for that 10 plus minutes. I am yet to find anything that stinky while growing, but I have been trying to lol.

Yup he says it is Pink Bubblegum smell and flavor, so fingers crossed. 1 of the cuts in particular he got from a guy that has had it since 2001. Samples should be coming your way in about 6 months I reckon.

I grew out a THSeeds Bubblegum and it smelt like pink bazooka Joe throughout most of flower. As soon as it was dried and cured it smelt like lemons.

One harvest was 120 plants grown outdoors in the south Florida sun. We took them in the house to trim, laid a tarp in the middle of the living room floor and went at it.
We literally had to go outside to get fresh air breaks.
That guy on IG may not have ever experienced such a thing. But that did not mean it didn't / doesn't exist.

Thseeds I think took the BG to the indica side, while serious seeds bred towards the sativa.
Never tried either of their offerings, as the source for mine were directly from Indiana in the mid 80's.
They were gifted by a friend who l went to school with for a couple of years before his family moved back to Indiana.
I found him on FB 2 days ago, but sadly he died in his sleep back in December. Lost touch with him in the mid 90's.
Seeing more and more of that sort of thing. Guess I am getting old.

That is sad about your friend bud. Sucks when you find someone you knew only to see they have passed.

The one I grew actually grew more like a sativa. She flowered out for 12 weeks and got big. I wish I had had my boards for lights at the time. She would have thrown down for sure. i have another seed or two I need to run but I am trying to run strains I have not had a chance to yet.

That is one of the last grows I did of her.

I know that just because the dude on IG did not experience it does not make it true. It just made me laugh because he talked with such authority as if him not experiencing it meant it never happened.I think he also mentioned that he thinks there were never any skunks, but people were mistaking Diesel and Chem for it. Both of which came around after skunks heyday.

I had 3 super close friends in high school, 2 are gone and 1 just had a really bad stroke. I only know this due to FB.

To talk with such authority while exposing his ignorance just shows he isn't an authority by any means. Does he think all these people are wrong are full of crap? Oh well see that crap on IG all the time.
We can all be wrong at times, but I will give it the benefit of the doubt until proven one way or another.

Now those colas do have that fat thick look I remember. Did you top or train it?
The main colas were huge, and the side branches were pretty the same but slightly smaller.

Looking at your plants made me giggle that you could use the word “boring” at all. :laughtwo:

I recently acquired some Jellium from MagicJim that is possibly the smelliest cannabis I’ve had the pleasure to enjoy. I have to keep the jar removed from everything else, off in a distant corner to control the skunky smell when securely jarred to maintain stealth. Lol!

I learned recently that the skunk smell is a combination of myrcene, B-caryophyllene, and limonene, all good things. :cheesygrinsmiley:

M’Lord, the trick is to avoid feeling like you’re growing old. It’s helpful to grab hold of the eternal nature of you. :hugs:

Outside of some occasional aches and pains I don't really think or feel old. Most people think I am in my 40's.
But when a lot of the friends of my youth die or have major health related issues that forever impact their lives. Well I realize in those moments we have been around for over half a century.

I feel fortunate and blessed, since I lived a hard life and did most of the things everyone said would kill me early. Yet here I am doing fine, still coming up, and made it longer than some younger than me and who did not walk on the wild side.

My day will come like the rest, some of it was hard but I learned a lot of lessons. I intend to just keep going with a positive outlook and not concern myself with hard times. They eventually pass and I end up a little wiser.

:Namaste:

Yeah losing close friends sucks. I lost 2 good friends about a year apart my senior year of high school or so. I had had a falling out with both of them over stupid things and then they both passed a couple weeks after trying to reconnect. Both deaths occurred about 9 months apart. It was an odd year for me for sure.

Yeah I see all sorts of crazy garbage on IG. I really just go to enjoy eye candy and keep up on whats coming out. I really do not use it nearly as much as I once did. After spending way more money than I had any need of I have been staying away lol.

I believe I topped. It has been a few years since I grew that plant and with all the ones since then it is hard to remember lol. She did put out some very impressive colas. The density was not what I tend to care for but I still think I was pulling 4-5 zips a plants which was great at the time. (Who am I kidding thats what I shoot for out of 7s). If I had my panels up I am sure I would have pulled even better numbers out of her. One of these days I will grow her out again. I think I dropped her because she was very similar to the Shackzilla in smell and I needed to move on to something new. The real disappointment was that I had had some Bubblegum a few years before that that someone grew with some low powered light that was super dense and frosty beyond belief. I was expecting something like that and it was not what I found. Between that and the bubblegum scent turning into lemon, it just was not a true keeper in my eyes at the time.
