Overlord's Adventures With High Brix

UPDATE:

Everything is looking pretty good, even after the super drench some petioles still are purple on the top side. Gave them all first Cat today @ 37 days after flip.

Warbird OG is getting top heavy and branches are leaning over all around the plant. Even the best pic is only showing about 75% of the plant. I am going to have to stake her up. In the future it may be a good idea to use a tomato cage with her.

Manadarin Cookies #1 is looking real good as well, her only problem is being crowded out by the Warbird.

Mandarin Cookies #2 is looking good, I do see some yellowing on leaf tips and edges that are the same as before when she started to become necrotic. Not as much this time but we still have 30+ days to go.

GDPupil A few dried out leaf edges that I think are from the fan bouncing off the tent and may be a bit much for her. Overall looking good!

That's it for now.. :nomo:

Holy moley O’Lord!

That photo is amazing. Such fantastic light. The 4th pic as well, but 5th one - my goodness what a plant! *swoon* :yummy:

Thank you, the lighting is the hardest thing to get right when taking photos under the grow lights.
TBH I got lucky on those photos. :thanks:

EDIT: The leaf at the bottom middle, can you tell how dark green and waxy it looks? Most of the leafs in the tent look the same way, but on the Warbird they are bit deeper and look way better.

Yes..indeed! Looking very good!
Was wondering , however....how come your gdpxsp is not purple...i dont get it...isnt gdp a purple strain too....or just not as purple as SP?

Well, I haven't grown it out before so I am not 100% sure.
If you go back to when the buds started forming you can see the sugar leaves with purple in them.
Then they started a bit of a growth spurt and white pistils and newer sugar leaves seemed to have covered this up some what.

On my last update there are a couple of bud shots that still show some purple, I guess we will have to wait and see what will happen over all.

On another note:
I have clones of all of these that are pretty much ready to flower if I had the room. However I also have several clones, seedlings, small plants that I have cracked or recently received from some fellow members ( I will leave it up to them if they want to identify themselves) that I want to grow out.

The newer clones are the green pheno of BCP and a 9 lb hammer clone.
The seeds I have cracked are:
Massmedicals PanJam
Norstar genetics TheDungeon (tester seeds)
Dr. Atomic Northern Lights
ISP Seeds IC91
and
Darkhorse Genetics Strawberry Glue

These still need to be sexed, but I am hoping to run them next grow.

This is for anyone who might have some input.
When I cracked the seeds I did so in Docs 1st run soil.
Out of 8 seeds only 1 came up, when I dug into the dirt of the failed ones. I could not find a hint of a seed except on one ( which was a bit of the outside skin of the seed).
Only 1 of TheDungeon popped up.

I did not have a full understanding of how much amendment to add to each kit when I 1st started with the kit. (I have 4 kits total running)
I bought 2 kits, then purchased the bulk, so 6 kits all together.
I may have added too much amendment, but I can't recall. However I kept the soil moist and it had been idle for close to a year.
Knowing that 2nd run soil or beyond can eat seeds, I am wondering if this may have happened with the 1st run soil considering the conditions.

I cracked a new seed of each strain in those jiffy peat pots with no problems.

Yes...could be the problem.Next time start seeds in straight pm....just to be safe!
Thats what i do. First run soil is good for starting seeds but given your unsureness with the amendments i would go with straight pm.....just for germing ok!

Yeah that is what I am thinking, I never had a problem cracking seeds in the same soil before so thought I would ask.

an inch or two of straight promix on top of the kit soil for germination has been working
for me 100% germination so far, even the one I knocked over, vacuumed up,
and found sprouting in the DirtDevil vac

Vacuum grown and packed weed, you might be on to something.

Dunno how I'm just now finding my way to this journal.... question tho, I don't have extra promix so would it be ok to germinate the seeds in washed Coco?

This question is better left to those with more experience, maybe someone will chime in.
I know some use root cubes of some sort, the jiffy expandable peat pellets worked fine for me. (they were included with a small humidity dome I purchased so I used them)

I just dumped out three cups of soil, after two attempts to get seeds to sprout in them. They each had two seeds planted into them. The first ones didn't sprout so I just stuck another one in the same cup and tried again. Nope, after digging around, no sign of any of the six seeds. :hmmmm: They'd been soaked and cracked before planting.

Doc has repeatedly said that he doesn't know of any issues with sprouting in Kit soil, but many of us have had seeds disappear. I never had any issues starting in straight, bland, Pro-Mix, so I may return to that.

Coco? Dunno. I suppose as long as it's bland and pH neutral, it should be fine. We're only sprouting after all. As long as they go right into bigger containers with the correct soil as soon as they grow enough roots, it shouldn't matter.

Like you, I had soaked and cracked before putting them in soil. I just had never heard of problems in 1st run soil, and had successfully used it before.

I kind of figured that sprouting by whatever means would be ok as long as they went into soil afterwards. But none the less I have no experience with coco.

If it's bland don't think there should be an issue, will have to do some experimenting with any seeds I believe to be expendable.. prob keep it in coco just long enough to get first set up leaves then wash off hit put some roots in the soil and see what happens.
