Overlord Does Ethos Mandarin Cookies In High Brix

Damn bro you packed the hell outta that scrog net! I think you’re on the right track with the transplant and then flip, they like to stretch their legs a little bit and will be happy for the extra space. Awesome pistil shots too bro! I like when they get all hairy and smelly. Then they get fat. .

Thanks, I figure they are going to stretch a little anyway.

However the Warbird does not, she has practically no stretch and would be nice to veg her out a bit.

I guess I won't know until I try.

The 8's are square pots that I used in my 1st grow, they are too big to get them all on one of those shelves.

I think Doc transplants and flips ? Seems like I recall him saying that.

If so, I may give it a try, and crack some other seeds to add in to the mix.

All advice and opinions are very much welcomed.. :scratchinghead:

Doc does transplant and then flip. You can do it and it could work very well for you. I meant you could transplant them when your tent empties out and veg them in there for a week or so. While the plants will stretch (depending on the strain of course) I still do not typically end up root bound in my final containers just transplanting and flipping. I actually end up with subpar root systems especially on plants that come from strains that are typically grown in hydro. If I had room I would definitely veg in my 7s for a week or two before flip. Especially on strains that do not stretch. I have grown a couple of indica dom plants that do not stretch at all when put into flower and my yield was always mediocre unless I tortured them in 1's forever. If you do transplant and flip make sure you let your pot dry out until you are in danger of wilting at least once if not twice so that you can help get that root ball established.

Those have been in the 1's for at least 2 months now using the wait till the soil is dry and water method.

You have me thinking now, although I cannot fit nine 8 gallon pots on the shelves, I can fit 2 to 4 of them.

So maybe these will go directly to bloom and future ones will be added 1 to 4 at a time after a transplant and short veg.

The only drawback for me on a perpetual run is keeping up with watering/feeding schedule of 9 different plants at different times.

I need a whiteboard.. :cheesygrinsmiley:

A whiteboard would be nice. I see Rad use index cards for each plant so he can track what he has done on it. I use a calendar and just write what I did to each plant on the days I have done them. I will say you probably do not need the extra veg time for any sativa leaning plants. 3G is right about them liking to stretch their legs and you will deplete the soil before they finish. But anything with a flower time of 12 weeks or less would do ok with a week of being in the big pots before flip. The picture I saw of your shelves did not look like you could fit any big pots on them but it could just be the way the picture looked. It did not seem as if you had any extra height for bigger pots.

I should really say any plants that stretch a lot may not need the veg time in the bigger pots. It would be good to get a feel for what will work best for you. In my experience though the plants that typically stretch for me are the ones that do not start to show in flower for the first 3 weeks after flip. Though I did have a Blue Cheese that only flowered for 8-10 weeks and would at least double in size after going into flower. Even still the last rootball was not as established as I would have liked.

What you do not see from that pic is the top shelf, I can hang another t5 from the ceiling and have plenty of vertical space.

Currently I use a calendar as well, but with several constantly rotating plants, I believe the whiteboard would give me a quick visual of what and when I did last.

Yes the calendar has its draw backs. I think a whiteboard calendar would work out awesome if I could find one that encompasses multiple months. That is great that you can use the top shelf and hang another light. That would work out really well. You could truly go perpetual that way if you wanted to. I have two veg areas and need to get another T-5 to put in my early veg area. I have two small LED panels in it right now and I do not like how the plants grow under them. I get a lot of rust spots even on small plants, which does not tend to happen to me unde rthe t5s.

Not to mention T5's are less expensive!! :thumb:

You would think but the LED panels were like 35 each and they do not pull that many watts. Electro Gypsy put me on them and I think they could work a little better in later veg what the plants are established and getting fed, but the pots stay heavy for too long under them as well. I just need to come up with $125 and go get another 4 bulb 4 ft tf and call it good. I have a 4 foot 6 bulb t5 I got off of the zon but the ballasts all burned out within a year. I was pretty unimpressed with it.

I can't imagine having to keep track of 9 different schedules,
I only run 2 and its confusing at times (smoke do something, forget)

Anyway also wanted to comment on the extra veg time in the larger pots,
which I did last run and was planning this time as well.

My thinking was during flower don't they divert ENERGY to FLOWERING,
again just thinking because I really don't know, but would they not STOP Root development or
at least slow it down during flower ?

I have 12 plants in flower at any given time. Then I usually have about that in veg as well. I try and keep veg on the same schedule as much as possible but with my flowering plants all going in at different times the drenches typically do not line up. I get lucky and get groups of plants that need the same thing on the same day. I have something to water just about every day and whether they need a drench depends on what they are calling for. Looking back at the calendar helps because I can see what each plant got last and the time before that.

:thumb:my documenting skills suck, sometimes I have to guess what got what and when. I get too many things going on and to do. I think I can do more than I am able and getting old has made it worse as I have definitely slowed down and forget more.:thedoubletake: However I just roll with it and carry on:rofl::Namaste:

Well I'm not even old yet and am struggling with the perpetual adventure.... I think my problem was having too many plants at different stages. Having a 1,2,3, and 4 week old plants in veg gets pretty tough to keep track of. I just need to veg 4 together flower 4 together after I clear them out....

I guess I can use the bathroom mirror as a whiteboard! Thanks for the idea overlord

LOL.. No problem!!

Sounds exactly like my situation except I only have 8 flowering plants. I used to do the calendar thing too. I finally settled on a yellow legal pad. I write the date, the strain and what drench it got. If more than 1 plant got the same thing, the strains get entered on the same line. If they get different drenches I just move down 1 line and enter what it got. When a plant is ready to feed I look back at the last feeding that strain got and do what's next. Calendars got to crowded and trying to find info was just getting too hard. This legal pad is the easiest method I've used.

MY Notes use a
circled D For Dunk, with a small t for trans, small g for Growth and small c for cat
circled W For Water
circled B for Brix
circled Ds for distress

all entered on a small calendar on the wall next to the tent

This does not sound like a bad way to go at all. With the way my garden runs I typically have to water every 3 days in flower. So it is easy to count back three days to see what should need attention. I can also check everything else out and judge what needs water or a drink as well but I at least get a baseline. When filling out the calendar I will just put GE- whatever got the drink, Tplant- Whatever got a drink, or water- and list. It works fairly well. I will number all plants after the first round. So for Miss Quin it is MQ1 if it is a first generation clone and so on. This helps differentiate plants from the same strain at different stages.

Noice noice, very noice. :bravo:

But did it get hot in there or something? :hmmmm: What's with the cupped older fans?
