Outdoor Growing With BeezLuiz

Today's update is about the war on caterpillars. My Granddaddy Purple is far enough along in flower to where there's a noticeable fragrance now.

I left enough material on the front so that the front flap can be easily sealed by rolling the edges of the material and securing with binder clips.

I'd really like to do the same thing for Purple Haze, but I wanted to test out the design on GDP first. Also, it's a bit of an eye sore so having two of them - or a double length - is out of the question for now. Also Purple Haze is 12 inches taller than GDP so that's an issue as well. I'll spray PH this season and compare the two methods. PH is not nearly as dense as GDP so the spray should be more effective on it.
Brilliant!

And yes, make some seeds. Not sure what would happen if you crossed a photo with an auto, but what the heck. it's worth a try.
I was wondering the same thing. Would the seeds be auto? photo? some of both?

My son is having some electrical upgrades done at his home. Since he and his wife are at work during the day I've been hanging out at his place to chaperone the electrician. A couple days last week and a couple days this week. It's given me a chance to do a little pruning, spraying and picture taking of his garden.
All 6 of his plants are looking pretty decent. 5 of them are in early stages of flowering
and still getting GeoFlora veg nutes every 2 weeks. The other (Red Dragon ) is further along in flower and he has started with GF bloom - about 3/4 cup of bloom with 1/4 cup of veg.
Here's Red Dragon.

Last month I showed him how to prune and LST his plants. I left one of them for him to prune. That was the Dresden Green Diamond. To my surprise As expected he did nothing to the plant. So last week I cleaned it up a bit.
And here it is today

Yesterday all the plants got their first spray of BT - especially the Red Dragon. Here's pics of the others.

Quick update on my autos while I wait for my grandson to arrive. :circle-of-love:

Zamaldelica Auto
Here's what's left after the caterpillar carnage. Day 78 and breeder estimate is 84-91 days, so still a good ways to go yet. I noticed today that lots of fresh pistil stigmas are popping out. I'm wondering if this is some sort of response to getting mostly eaten by the caterpillars.
I took a look at the trichomes anyway, because I am anxious to get this poor thing put to rest. Still mostly clear.

Gorilla Cookies Auto
Gorilla Cookies is also at day 78 and breeder estimate is 70 days. It still has lots of clear, so I wait another week at least. The leaves are looking dreadful due to an aphid infestation, but I think it can hang on another week or two without me resorting to drastic measures. The buds still look fine.

and here's some trichome shots. Still not ready yet.

Highya BL,

Love the bud porn! This is my second stop this afternoon and the first one and yourself have some great bud porn!! Love the serious frost coating. Very drool worthy!! Great job!! Happy Smokin'

I get a devilish smile seeing this as I sat week after week past those breeder estimates.
But look at all the sugar on yours I never got that. I bet they’re going to be tasty.

Lol, yeah! Who do those breeders think they’re fooling?! Pmill used to say that he found autos tend to take about 100 days (+/-) and I’ve found that to be a pretty fair generalization. Not sure about any effect from indoor vs outdoor though.

Thanks Bode. This is definitely the frostiest plant I've grown so far.
I'm guessing the new pistils on the Zam are definitely related to the damage as it makes a last ditch effort to reproduce.
So now I'm really unsure when this will get harvested. Half the plant has been flowering for about 60 days, and now I have fresh buds forming that are only a few days old. :hmmmm:
And are the trichomes on the GCa really ½" long or does it just look that way?
:laughtwo: I had to go back and look at those pics again to see what you were referring to. You're right - they do look abnormally long.

Yeah, it's killing me to wait... and wait... maybe one more week will be enough...

That's sounds about right. Only a very few of my autos have been harvested close to the breeder estimates, and those that did were probably taken too early.

Happy Sunday everyone! It's time for an update on the Purple Haze and Granddaddy Purple from @Weed Seeds Express .
They are both now on day 129, and they're doing great. I'm feeding them both every other day, using the bloom nutrients from Emerald Harvest, along with their plant tonic (Emerald Goddess), and their bloom booster (King Kola). Since these are both purple plants, I'm also feeding them Purpinator. A few days ago I noticed a slight bit of yellowing on the lower leaves, so at the previous feeding a couple days ago, I gave them 3g/gal of MC in addition to the other stuff. The yellowing seems to have stopped.
Purple Haze
PH is still stretching and is currently 57 inches high. I expect it to max out at maybe 59 inches.
I had the ladder out to take some SaugaView® shots, and thought it would be good to keep the ladder in this shot for size reference.

It's been flowering now for about 33 days, but still looks pretty early in the bud development. Definitely showing its sativa influence.

Granddaddy Purple
GDP is pretty much finished stretching and is currently 41 inches high, which is nice because it still fits into its moth shelter at night.
I'm pretty happy with the flat canopy, and the buds are developing nicely.

I hope you all have a great rest of your weekend. :Namaste:

Gorgeous bushy Ladies!!

I'm partial to the GDP, but both of them are looking awesome!
And sooo healthy...:welldone:
