OTM's DIY Bubble Cloning & Sprouting 40 Year Old Seeds & Current RDWC Harvest

9-18 update;

The 3 new baby Maui's are looking for light, the 4th in the rooter is not showing any signs of pushing out yet, but we will give it some more time.

9-17_026.JPG

Tomorrow these three will be in their first coco pots, they won't look as leggy as they do now.

Hayley is not showing anymore leaf curling nor are the clones so I think I have my light issues taken care of, it will also go into a new smart pot. I removed some of the bad fans...they were crispy and dry, and I will bury it in the pot a little so it don't look as bad and gains me a few inches.

Thanks for following and I will have another update tomorrow of the babies in their new home! :thanks:

It's good to hear all's good :)

9-19 Update;

Hayley is now in a new pot, it had a nice root system developed so it should take the transplant with no problems. It is about 4" shorter now as I planted it deep. My leaf issues are not getting worse so I think I have the lights at a happy point for now, it will lose a couple more of the old fan leaves down the road, they are damaged beyond repair but the tops and new under growth looks healthy.

The clones are taking to their new pots well, I started cleaning up the shaggy bottom growth and re-veg leaves, not real sure if I am going to do any training, maybe just some topping on this round.

The three baby Maui's are now in their first pot, I also planted them deep to get some control of the leggyness they got in the humidity dome. Still nothing showing on the 4th rooter, and no signs if life on the other two seeds, so it looking like only a 50% success rate on this try which is my best so far!

My current plan is to veg the clones for 2-3 more weeks before switching over to flower, Hayley will move back in the veg tent with the new seedlings and continue to veg until I start seeing sex parts, The odds of a pair is looking much better now!:wood:
:thankyou:

Looking good in here OTM, I'm on your path but a littler further back or is it in front. I don't know maybe we're just in the same group. I've been wanting to do some pollinating for a while now. I remember I was all about getting a girl when I was younger, now I just want a decent male for sharing genetics and makin seeds. (No, I'm not why do you ask...)
:rofl::rofl:

Anyways, I've been getting some pointers from Feral about choosing plants, etc. I know it's different for you, but I think I'm gonna try making more seeds for the strains I've got, and then, then I'll do the selective breeding across strains. This is the part of the hobby that becomes the most work and the most fulfilling.

:blunt:

I'm nervous and excited!!!!

:lot-o-toke:

It would seem my plan for making more seeds of the strains I already have may not be a good one. Feral was telling me F2 Phenos may not produce the plants I'm looking for, and to just cross the ones I've got now. So, I will be hoping for a male and let him spread his pollen all over the girls in heat. Let the fun begin!!!

I love your old skool genetics mai waui and Panama red gold.too kewl. I used to smoke those. Too my ex tossed my seeds. I have a BOG sour boggle male i have been cloning and keeping for his sister sour boggle in waiting. I have some feminized sb also from heat stress.

Hi Old TimingMan,

I jsut read your entire thread yesterday and today. Great read !
So you've successfully used ga3 ? looks like it, i have a few seeds i cant crack so i will be following your methods as i have ga3 here.

as for the yellowing maui waui....
i find some phenos need 1 gram of iron chelate in their 20L nutrient feed once a month and not a touch more.
just add it to 1 feed, it wont affect other strains.
Also could be lack of nitrogen but i doubt it.

I catch everyone just in time with the iron chelate deficiency.
If it works , around 4 days later the yellowing leaves darken up a few shades, but never go entire dark green again.

good luck and I will be tuned in Old TimingMan.

I am so happy for you OTM. How many of your old seeds did sprout so far?

9-24 Update;

With fall in the air here, my harvest finished, the clones and seedlings not needing too much attention, I had the chance to take a short trip to Las Vegas with a lady friend of mine for a little R&R, haven't been there for a number of years and jumped at the chance to blow some of the kid's inheritance money!...and pay surcharges on everything you do there now!

It sure is not what it used to be, rooms are $125 a night + a $40 "Resort Fee", costs you $20.00 a day to park your car, and not one free or discounted buffet to be seen...I think the mob did a better job of managing Las Vegas!...It was probably my last visit!:whoa:

The clones, Hayley, and the new babies didn't seem to miss me for a few days, the auto watering system did its job and growth was noticeable.

Hayley and the clones are starting to look much better, there are still some signs of leaf damage from the lights being too close but the new growth is looking spot on.

Hayley is getting a lot of scattered new growth at the nodes, and it is now more staggered, no indication of sex yet but it seems to like it's new pot.

The new seedlings are also happy, 2 out of the 3 are showing good growth, the other is much like Hayley was at its early stage, very slow to grow...maybe we have a similar pheno going here, the last two pictures are the new baby and Hayley at the same age.

The past harvest is curing well, next week I will start to do some final results and include some bud porn photos...some of those larger buds have nice colors forming!:smoke2:

If I can get seeds from similar pheno's that cranks it up a notch, Conrad seems to think Hayley is show the Afghan pheno and I tend to agree with him, most of the plants I grew in the 70's had long thin Sativa fan's on both male & female plants.

No matter what, I can always keep mothers and fathers cloned until I have a good match and still produce old school Maui...exciting times ahead for both of us!:thumb:

Thanks for stopping by Avid, :welcome: Those ex's will haunt you forever!:laughtwo:

Sounds like you have a fun thing of your own going on!:thumb:

OTM, does Haley have staggered, non uniform nodes forming? I always associated this with maturity far later in veg.

So far the tops of the branches are pretty uniform, but as you can see in the last picture I am starting to get staggered bud sites forming at the lower nodes...fill-in growth which will probably take off big time because I fried the fans next to it!:trance:

Thank you very much m80, :welcome:

Its been trial and error through out, but my best results have been 1. scuffing the seeds with fine sandpaper. 2. giving them a bath in distilled water with H2O2, and using distilled water with 500 PPM's of GA3 for a 24 to 36 hour soak.
I have had to give the shells some extra help to open up on a few after they cracked, seems the endosperm covering on old seeds gets like leather over time and is too tough to allow the radicle to rupture it.

Good luck to you and if you have any questions that I can help with, feel free to ask!:cheertwo:

I am so happy for you OTM. How many of your old seeds did sprout so far?

Thanks DeVille, out of 28 seeds attempted, I had 10 crack, 7 grew taps, and 4 are now growing:wood: Not a good ratio but I think I have a better chance to sprout the Panama & Colombian seeds when the time comes, no room to do that now but next year, watch out!:laughtwo:
