Yea when the presidents 'grabbing em by the pussy' i will gladly stay out of this new era.. lol haha funny let a chair pull me up... .
You should have grown up in the 70's as a senior in school...it was nothing to be walking along down the hall to the next class and have a underclass female grab your balls..she wanted a date that night...that was the start if the feminist era and I loved every minute of it!
The strident, man-hating, Gloria Steinem women's lib part of that era I do not remember fondly, but the sexual revolution and free love, the pill, "venereal diseases" conquered by antibiotics, herpes unheard of, and AIDS over a decade away--that was a good time to come of age.
I feel I just made a very cohesive statement. I'm also a fan of irony.
WeedNerd you have interesting tastes. I bet the key difference is age. I'm a little older than you which probably sent me down one path in gaming where the NES and SNES and Nintendo's best years were a major influence whereas your most impressionable age lined up with the PS1/PS2. I bet we have some common ground all the same. I've had a bit of a gaming renaissance with the current gen, I've played a bunch of PS4 games and enjoyed them. Gaming is very different these days but I guess I've changed with it perhaps? Also I have kids and want to introduce them to gaming.
Really too bad you had to sell your collection, I know how meaningful that stuff is for me. I've tried to hang onto all of those things I collected as I was growing up but haven't always been successful. Hate to hear about anyone's health getting in the way of the things they love. I know it's not the same but hopefully emulation can replace some of what you might not be able to replace physically at least.
Haha I love Atari 2600,5200,7800, Colecovision, and Intellivision. Though as you said and I did earlier arcade gaming is where it's at. I miss having arcade cabinets in my room. And also, if you think about it like this...your still playing a game but instead of feeding it quarters your feeding it dollar bills and credit cards haha. . . . . . .That makes me feel really old!
My first "video" game was "Pong"...2 paddles and a ball...we did have Pac-Man in the years following, fed a lot of quarters in those machines and of course Asteroids...then I got married...no more feeding quarters!
I might not touch anything new, by choice and because I can't have it as I live on less than a grand a month, but BBC I feel the same way. I get the same joy from the arcade games and 2D RPGs I play. Same with racing games. We all have diff tastes but games made up life from 80s-90s and early-mid 2000s. Hell, they still might. With nothing good, but that's my opinion and feelings only.Mrs. Pac man on the sega is and was one of my favorite games.. also i used to play pong and asteriods all the time. Just because i enjoy newer games too doesnt take away the love i have for games made before i was even born.. the fact that i really enjoy those old school games makes me very happy inside lol. Feels like im a kid again when playing them.. sad thinking the most nostalgic times of my life were playing videogames. But it doesnt make me sad at all.. people are very judgemental and thats what makes me sad.
By then there will be a banned controversial mini game released where you play as Donald Trump and the goal is to use your money and power to buy more things, manage hireing 3rd world workers and buildings and such, become president, but also get extra points when you walk up to the women standing around and tap a button command to make him "grab em by the pussy". . . . . . something like..... . .. . . . . . . . .Yea when the presidents 'grabbing em by the pussy' i will gladly stay out of this new era.. lol haha funny let a chair pull me up... .
Great thread to catch up on, and it doesn't seem too late to join in!
