Orangeblood's Grow Room-Yumbolt 47, White Widow, Air Pots, LED+HPS, SOG, & R2D2

Here they are Red Dawg! The Vita Lite Twist! These are totally old school! I remember my uncle using these as cloning and veg lites in the late 80s'. In the mid 90s' they started getting a bad rap as grow lights and then disappeared. I think the bad talk they got was more of grower issues rather than the light but I digress.:)
Then the T5 came along and these became dinosaurs. You might be able to find them at a garage sale or in an old pet stores' nos inventory.
They were originally for salt water aquariums and even those guys use mh now.
But guess what? They were in fact T12HO!

EDIT: Just found some for sale from only one website. $37 per bulb :thedoubletake::rofl: I remember when they were $14 per bulb

I'm pretty sure they had a special fixture they used. Or at least one with a T12 ballast. You could probably build a custom fixture. I swiped the pic from another website so that is'nt actually my light.:)

Mr.OrangeBlood..

OoOoo,, I thought you found one of your old Lights or something,, lol .. I know if theyre anything like my Bulbs on the T12-CW-HO they have a wierd looking Connector on each end of the Bulb unlike T5s .. Im curious now if theyre the same Bulbs as my new T12 Fixture.. I might take a couple Pictures of them real quick to see if theyre like the ones youve seen.. .. I bet you could build a custom Fixture I would think.. Too kewl !! !!

Hey, OB. Haven't been around in awhile. The outdoor ladies are so sexy. What's your average temp over your way? I've been hitting 105. I water daily and I'm still having trouble keeping up. The plants love the water, but despise the heat. Me too. Throwing some reps your way if it'll let me. Later, Brother.

High Bud!
Yeah Man I'm in the 105s daily. These ladies are getting all they can handle along with it. They're in the full sun from 7am till 6pm. I have to water daily(evry morning) and fertilize every other day with med level nutes. No additives.
Probably should have put the Yumbolts in seven gallon pots instead of the five. They're showing the N def more than the WW and she's in a seven. She has n def too but not as bad as the Yumbolts. I may transplnat those Yumbolts to ten gallon next week since it's still early.
I'm using the General Oraganics Bloom & Big Bud with a dose of Bio Marine every week to try and stop the nitrogen def.
They're starting to frost up so the leaf munchers are packing up and moving. I think they get stuck in the resin and die so they know to leave during bloom. I just need to keep them to a minimum while they're trying to infest and it works out. My only remedy is the pick-n-squish and Jungle Rain clean leaf. No pesticides.
I just germinated three Grapegod, three OG Kush, two LAW, and the two autos. All of them will be vegged indoors and then flowered outside for the late Fall.

Outdoor Yumbolt 47 :yummy:

Here she is right after the clouds broke from a thunderstorm. She's feeling a little frisky after the rains proudly showing off her 9 and 11 points leaves. That along with the conical Christmas Tree shape shows off her Sativa Dom genetics very well

That Yumbolt 47 is looking picture perfect. :thumb: Maybe you should string some lights around it and a little seaweed garland! I envy you to grow big plants outdoors. :yummy: :Hookah:

Mighty fine Yumboldts for sure! great looking plants!

I agree with you about the GO line, I pulled the papaya last night, and did notice that they get a great organic flavor and seem a little more sticky with it! I noticed your fighting the N deficiency with your outdoor girl. Have you tried using the bioweed and bio marine as a foliar? I tried that on my girls and it did seem to help! I used 2ml bioweed and 1ml of the marine. very light mix so I could apply it twice in a day without any burn. just thought maybe you havent tried that yet! sorry to bug if you have.

Also, I use 'metanaturals Organic N (16-0-0) but I think they went under, I do know that Humboldt Verde is similar! might want to invest in that, or if you drink coffee you can also dump the used coffee grounds on top of the soil for a little N kick. it's a faster release than worm casings.

I agree with you about the autos! Hell, if their free and they sprout then grow them girls! WOOHOO!!! Just wouldn't pay for them. lol I'm a seed snob. lol!

keep up the killer garden my friend!!:slide:

Top of the morning to ya Jay! :ganjamon:

All of my outdoor ladies have a n def right now. The yumbolts are just too big for the five gallon pot so I'm transplanting them tommorow as soon as I can get some ten gallon pots. That should stop it in it's tracks and carry the girls thru harvest. The widow is in a seven gallon and is just yellowing on the very bottom.

I've been giving them bio marine about every 3-4 days but they're also getting some good rains that flush them clean.
That pic they look real yellow but that's the morning sun piercing the leaves.

I've germinated ten new seeds and peculiar enough the autos popped first in about 18 hrs. Grapegod was next at 30 followed by OGK at 48, and LAW at 54. Simple tp folded up thick, ozarka spring water, and a window sill did the trick.
Everybody is already in an Air Pot ready to get the party started! :blunt:

BTW- I agree on the autos. never pay for them. Too many better choices

Equipment mods update

The R2D2 LED Cloner Project is complete. Testing will begin soon.
The cfl fixture has been replaced by a 50 watt mini UFO LED

The waterfarm bloom controller has been modified with a diy circulation kit. GH makes a kit to buy but it retails for about $60. This kit is made from a waterfarm plumbing kit which retails for $15. If you dont already have a 13/16 spade bit, 1/2" barbed elbows w/ grommets, and/or an air pump you can still save money by buying those things seperate.

This circulator can be used for any kind of hydro application that uses an auxillary rez.

For this demo I'm using only the bottom half of a waterfarm controller to supplement the two diy waterfarm bucket modules that will be connected to it. As the two plants grow or I add two more buckets the upper 13 gallon rez will be used. The rez can also be diyed with a quality food grade plastic container.

Drill a 1/4" hole well above the water line of the rez for the air line to slide through. It should be somewhere near the upper middle of a side wall.

On the opposite side of the air line I installed an inlet elbow into the bottom of the rez by using the 13/16th spade bit to drill a hole. Insert a grommet and then a 1/2" elbow.

The pumping column is made by cutting down the plumbing kit shaft so it is above the waterline but short enough so the lid fits back on the rez.

The T is put on one end of the column sideways.

A small 2 1/2" long piece of 1/2" tubing is put onto the angled air valve at the other end of the white tube. It will fit very loose so a zip tie must be used the fasten and clamp down on the air valve.

A 1/2" Elbow is inserted into the open end of the clamped tubing

A tube is then put on the other end of the elbow to go the length of the rez to the other side and connect to the inlet elbow.
With the left over piece of white tubing I cut two more pieces to put in the top and one in the side of the T. The top piece has a piece of sponge in it to direct all waterflow to the side outlet. The side outlet then has a piece of tubing to give the flow direction to the back of the rez.

It will look and function like this when it's installed. It will pump 1 gallon about every 5 minutes. Power consumption is only 3 watts.

The individual bucket reservoirs will need to have 13/16th holes drilled opposite the existing holes and have the connection tubing ran in an inline daisy chain fashion.
For more detailled installation instructions check the GH website for pdf instructions on the manufactured circulation kit for the 8 pack waterfarm.

Check back soon to see this system in action! :MoreNutes:
