Oldsmokey Grows Blue Cheese & Blueberry With Promix

I’ve been adding MC to my roses with no ill effects. Just sprinkle the powder on the soil, rake in, and wait for rain. Cheaper than rose fertilizer and it has more stuff in it.

Damn it. You’re making me want to try sourdough starter again, even though my multi-grain bread is to die for.
Can't wait to see your roses. Thanks for reminding me I have to go feed the the starter almost forgot. It nice to have a variety I also make whole wheat also but multigrain would be a nice change.

Day 10 Veg Update
Hello everyone hope you had a great weekend! Everything is doing fine. Blueberry#2 is the only one to get any nutes yet I fed her 2GM Megacrop per gallon. The rest will be getting the same dosage soon. As some of you know this is my second grow with MC. First round I kept the PH between 5.8 - 6.3. This round I will not be adjusting it at all. I will monitor it from time to time just to keep track of the levels for my records. I also keep a hand written journal of all my grows. Ok now the pictures:D

Grow On Stay Medicated :high-five: :passitleft:
Looks good. I use the same pH in hydro. In soil I let the pH wander a bit in soil so all of the elements are more bioavailable...

Promix HP no need to pH same with Mega Crop. This is a big step for me 30 years of treating pH like gospel is a hard thing to let go. But I am ready for change:thedoubletake: I think.
Yeah soil is like that in general if it has dolomite or other like additives, but that pH adjustment doesn't happen immediately so I still pH my nutes. You should still pH down when needed regardless. Gen Hydro's Armor Si can bring your base well above 11. You should really adjust that before adding it

I've grown most of my life Hydro RDWC and using synthetic nutrients so pH was always critical. It's only being the last few years that I've been growing in promix which is technically soilless mix not soil. Mega crop is a amino chelated nutrients. The plant takes it up as is there is. Opposed to synthetic or salt-based nutrients where are the elements have to be broken away from the salt bonds before they can be taken up into the plant. So like I said this is a big change for me I did adjustthe pH last crop I don't like to change too many things at once too hard to figure out what the problem is if something goes sideways. But I will be monitoring it I don't want to going too far out of whack but apparently anywhere 5.5 -7 is acceptable.

You're good man. I hope I didn't offend. Just giving way to much Info. Cheers

No worries you didn't offend me:high-five:I am here for the knowledge sorry about the long-winded explanation but you seem like a very knowledgeable fellow so I thought I would just explain why I'm doing what I'm doing. So the reason that I have not done a journal until now is because putting my thoughts down on paper so to speak is not an easy thing for me never has been don't know why just the way I am.so I will apologize in advance if I am rambling on in the future just tell me to shut up:rofl:

My father was a rambler, my mother was a rambler. I have been known to spin some yarns. Folks like us gotta stick together!

Umm exsqueeze me :thedoubletake: Are these facts? I don't have to buy another pH pen?

Yes they are facts intheshed grows like this. I followed Emilya's last journal she was in soil using megacrop growing that way. There's 2 veteran growers here lots more doing it that way. Are you using megacrop?

I think it was in the megacrop thread that was closed. Where shed had contacted promix they told him the medium will buffer the water don't need to adjust pH.

Is that if your using MC or is that just using promix alone?

Dolomite lime, which is in most manufactured soils buffers the soil pretty well. If you pH is lower than 6ish dolomite makes it basically a non issue. But its not exactly an immediate. adjustment though so I pH my solution so there are no surprises to the plant. Dolomite isn't so hot for lowering pH though, so it your water is more basic or you use additives that are known to raise pH, then you may want to keep your pen.

Soil is an amazing thing. The minerals, and organic matter are just a part of goods involved. The fungi and bacteria allow the plant to eat. I worry that vast pH changes will kill some of these cool micro-engineers, so i pH my nutrients prior to adding them. Some say the salts in out artificial nutrients alone can put a hurt on these systems, im not taking chances.

A man named Jeff Lewenfels (spelling?) Has put out 3 books on the dynamics of soil called Teaming with Nutrients, Teaming with Fungi, and Teaming with Microbes. Easy to read and not long, he lays out how these tiny organisms make life for your plant possible. Very interesting stuff

Megacrop with soil or promix HP. Now as I say this bear in mind I have not personally tried this i am just starting without adjusting the pH. I am going to monitor it at first because you don't want it to be too far out of whack.
If your nutrients are know for a good pH you should be good. I dont know a thing about Mega Crop. If your water by itself is above 7 you may want to think about it.

I agree totally that's why I'm going to monitor my pH it first to see where it ends up at roughly after mixing up my nutes. This is my take on it anyways after one grow and researching for the last year or so.
