OldMedMan Goes Indoors Part 2

The Story Continues.........................................................................Running out of Time

Time started to fly for us.......days were passing too quickly. Finally, I had to go and get my assignment, My friend asked where I want to go......it had to be stateside....I had been out of the country too long already. My sons were in California, so I asked for Fort Ord in California. I had never been there before, but had passed it on it the way to the Monterey Jazz Festival once.

It took exactly 20 minutes to get the assignment, I was going to an Artillery Division.
Crap I thought to myself, I would be in the field allot. I would leave in exactly one month. I would have a month's leave and 15 days travel time, before checking in.
I had many things to do in that time......Pick up my boys if I could, Buy some kind of car just to get around in and find a place to live. It would be months before I could get base housing. I would have to go cheap on everything. I had no idea what life was like back in the states. I was sure it would be much more expensive.

I went down to the bus stop and started waiting for the Bus. I just dreaded going home and telling Tony. Instead I went to the park and found some hash, made a pipe out of a soda can and got stoned. It really didn't help, so I went home.

To be contued.......................................................................................

I always try to put myself in your shoes when I read up on your storytelling and let me tell you....You were quite a lucky man to say the least!!! And also, you got away with a ton of shit and the best thing of all is you lived through it all and can now pass it on for the rest of us to read and enjoy... At this point in your life, I hope you feel very accomplished and realize you have lived a life most of us will never come close to...I promise you my friend...Your biography would be a best seller...Than if Oprah adds it to her book club, your famous overnight!!!! Even if not, your famous around these parts buddy...Thanks for sharing with all of us... I hope I do not sound repetitive with always telling you how great the stories are, I just really enjoy it and if I was in your shoes I would also love to hear feedback from others, so...that being said....Til next time and brighter days ahead OL MAN!!! You rock...You remind me a lot of my grandfather only I think a lot of what he says is bullshit!!! :bravo:

The story is getting a bit heavy again, whoa boy.

I "like" the story, but sometimes feel weird about "liking" the more depressing entries..I don't think even a high from wild thai could raise you from that kind of downer!

They are drinking nutes big time....Starting to gain some hight now .
morning Uncle O, just had to give you some more props on the vid and the indoor girls.. I hope you don't go cutting a major artery or important body part with them fingernails :)

You and THsea are doing a great job keeping those girls nice and healthy, not a bad leaf around..:goodjob:

I was laughing the other morning when I read that you and Jo had a hug and squeezed the pee out, my wife knows when I'm reading your journal cause I'm either gigglingq or have a big smile on my face. One day man, we'll have to share a vape or 2 hundred.

How are you OMM? Everything looks good from the video (shout out +reps to THsea film work!) And I must admit as well, when I heard your voice I was like oh my its him, its really him!:dreamy::laugh::laugh: You are very much the celebrity arounds these parts with such life in your stories:bravo: I'm sure we all are honored that you are sharing this with all of your 420 family:circle-of-love: And just to clarify, although you type about the downtimes and I like the post its due to you being open and sharing which connects us all in a way, where we feel for you during the low memories and we rejoice with you over the hightimes. I salute you my friend for continuing to enjoy such a surreal life despite what life throws at you:Namaste::high-five:

Quick question on co2 bags... can I leave it in the tent even while lights are out and plants really not using it. Wanna make sure it won't harm the ladies. I guess no matter what you do with it, if its not near the plant during light hrs its wasted anyway.:hmmmm: Thanks for the help gang:thanks:

Hey Sisco :high-five:

Thanks Buddy. THsea hints at me pretty hard to try new things, so we made a video. I would do it if he would post it. It Worked! In another post you seemed surprised that we had a voice with the video. We just copied you!

Well, I figure if something is funny to me, it should be to others too.

Just like you.....I'll take the 2 hundred vapes.:thumb:

voltron That was very humbling my friend. Thank you. All is One! Peace Brother.:Namaste:

PS: The co2 bags will not hurt your plants....its not enough to hurt anything.

HOME MADE CO2

I've done a bit of research on producing CO2 and thought I'd post what I've found. My disclaimer is that I personally have not tried any of these methods:

First, let's assume that we can't afford the expensive CO2 delivery and monitoring systems plus the added PITA of refilling 20-lb. CO2 tanks so we're looking at a "cheaper" alternative.

The Exhale bags are cheap (something like $30) and claim a 90-day supply of CO2. The way it works is that the package contains mushroom waste that's injected with a bacteria that breaks down the mushrooms which releases CO2. The bag has an "exhaust port" near the top of the bag that allows the CO2 molecules to escape but prevents other air molecules from getting in. My understanding is that these Exhale bags are only effective in the smallest of rooms - perhaps a 2'x2' or less. The reason is the rate of CO2 production is very low. This can be tested by squeezing the bag to release all of the CO2, then waiting to see how long it takes for the bag to re-fill. I've heard it can take 12 hours or so, just to get a bagful of CO2!

There's a more expensive alternative that works on the same principles, but it can be used in a much larger room, called the "CO2 Boost Bucket". The way it works is that it uses an airtube to pump air into the bucket which increases the rate that the mushrooms break down, and as a result, releases much more CO2. The Boost Bucket costs something like $135 and the refill bags are around $110. The Boost Buckets also claim a 90-day supply of CO2, but my understanding is that, because of the higher CO2 production rate, it's probably closer to 75 days instead of 90.

There are other ways to make home-produced CO2 using fermentation techniques, and many are documented here in 420's DIY Forums, but I don't believe any of these methods will be as effective as either the Exhale Bag or the CO2 Boost Bucket.

I hope this helps!

Thanks OMM, and Mr.Krip! I did a 2ltr diy and have it in the tent now, which is 32x32x62. So I figured the co2 bag would be perfect for my small area, especially since my temps stay around 82-84. I cut off a small fan that I have on the floor blowing into passive intake, and my temps are steady at 80. :cheer: Thanks again for the info on co2:thanks:

hey OMM
Just got caught up and boy so much great info/pics and oh of course the story!!
Love the video as well :thumb:

Plants are looking so great and can't wait for their first night outside :)

I purchased 2 exhale bags myself which I am wiating for them to come in. yeah

thanks as always!

:peace:

Wow! More Reps! Thanks Quix ! Two in one day...I must be living right.

There is few more things in Happy Frog that help with starting plants. It's all organic and is forgiving. Every time I use it my plants just turn a deep color of green. You can also use organic nutes from day one. I quit using other soils at all. Very happy with the Frog! :high-five:

hahahahahahaha suckers! ;)
I get mine from the Lemon grove, out where the cows hang out.
It's organic all right.....and FREE!!!

I tried the CO2 Boost Bucket and did not notice any extra growth! I was not impressed. Especially with the cost. If my local store carried the bags I would try them.

Have you smelled the organic BPN nutes?! They are double ass strong! Do you think that would increase CO2 levels in the grow room by having an open nasty smelling nute container?

I am in no means knocking the BPN nutes!! I like them. However, if you open up a bottle of one of the organic nutes. It smells like 100 head of cattle taking a sh*t! :peace:

Hey OMM,

Loved the vid on FIMing, make another the next time you do it. Please, if its possible, show us the same plant and each time you FIM...we want to see the results. I really liked hearing your voice too, it gives a voice to put with the story.

THsea...great job with the camera. Whatever you used, it worked really well...thanks

Yeah....About the lemon grove.....It's quite a drive to the "lemon grove" 'round these parts patna....Between work and raising kids (The real kind) I got little time, and less patients, to be drivin my city ass to the plains to get a truck load of dirt that wont fit in my townhome:rofl::rofl: Tell ya what, I'll pay for shipping if you'll send me some of your gator funk brotha!

I use the Exhale bags (2 of them currently in a 3x5' tent). I don't know how much of a difference they make, but I tested them on a single plant auto-flower grow over the summer, which ended up yielding huge for an auto -- so I bought another. ;) I think they probably do work to some degree in a small enough space. Just a hunch. It's fine to just leave 'em in there all the time - as OMM mentioned it's not enough to be bad.

Oh, a bit of advice if anyone wants to try them: If you get any kind of puncture to the bag, even if you cover it after the fact you'll be breeding mold. It's not easy to puncture them, but I got one with a slight tear near the breathing patch, and sealed the tear with vinyl tape before putting it in the tent. It ended up getting moldy. The good news, is that it didn't seem to infect my plants (probably because the patch must not let the mold out, and the tear was now sealed.)

The company and hydro store I purchased it from were both great at standing behind it, for what it's worth, and gave me a new bag that's working great with no hassle.
