Oh No - It's A Green Hole! - Reverse Thrusters! - Dammit - Too Late!

I got my MB machine! First impressions are that it has quality and class. :thumb: I like high quality and class. Why else would I hang out with you guys?
I'm already plotting ways to misuse the machine. Specifically, wondering if I could use honey instead of oil. Imagine the amazing treats we could make. Any thoughts?

You cant imagine how happy I feel you have received your prizes!

I have never seen the Magical Butter "maker" before so I had to go investigate it watcha video or two on it and learn whats what.

I particularly liked the coconut canna infused oil that you can make with it.

I myself would probably use the solid coconut oil to make a spread-able butter substitute.

Coconut oil is reported to improve the memory and brain function in older people among other things.

It may well work for cannabis memory problems. What was I going to say again... puff puff

The MB is awesome. I recommend the coconut oil. The butter is a little messy while straining. Coconut oil is a bit better for you and is easy as a straight substitute for oil or butter in recipes as its melting point is a bit lower than butter. I chose to decarb prior at 240F for 35 minutes in mason jars (with lids) to cut down on smell. Have some fun with it! It makes butter so easy you'll never trim the lower half of your plants again! Lol

Yes I do feel like a lucky bastard! I didn't know the MOTM thing came with prizes other than the cherished t-shirt, till I saw the MB machine after Pigeons won and looked it up and figured out that this is really a prize worth getting excited about (t shirt still comes first for me somehow :) ).
Very smart of the company to give these prizes away, and by the looks of the machine I'll be happy to put in a very positive word for them.
I do have a lot of olive oil. I wonder if that would work. I can't see why not...
Kind of fixated on the honey idea, but maybe I should try a run with oil before I get too carried away and blow the thing up first time I use it???
I should probably get smart and email the company to ask...

At the expense of getting any sleep before tomorrow which, contrary to what they say, does generally come, even though I sometimes wish it wouldn't, I did a couple hours emergency work and trimmed undergrowth, fertilized, cleaned a bit, cut a few clones, and propped up the PC with a second screen hung above the first one. The pics show some of the ridiculousness of the situation and were taken after I removed a fairly large pile of leaves, small buds, and branches.

Having this weird screen thing there isn't exactly allowing full light to reach the buds- but it wasn't reaching them before either, and at least now they're getting some, along with a bit of airflow.
Putting my hands in there was like plunging them into a bin of warm candy floss. 'Horribly' sticky and smelly.
Certainly not going to win the prize for 'Best Scrog'!

This pic is mainly reference for me so I can compare how the Thai Stick looks in a few weeks.

The right side. Three plants which I put into flower a couple weeks ago.

The veg room. I killed off all but five plants of the last round of clones. Also added a new Blueberry clone which rooted yesterday. Three little Malawis in front.

Ok a little sleep is in order. ❤️ You guys bye for now.

Ok noob question but where do these contests take place on here like where do you vote?

It may be better to ask.. I'm not really sure about if it would infuse the honey, but that sounds amazing! A nice pineapple-chuck infused honey!? Sign me up! I think the reason that oil/butter works though is that the cannabinoids are fat-soluble. There could be hope though!

By the way, what is the smell of your PC plants like? I'm looking for a new sativa strain, but I want to keep smells in-line, which seems to be easier if they're fruity instead of skunky/sour.

Coconut oil is great by itself. I wouldn't do olive oil by itself because it has a very low smoke point. I make my edibles with a mix of solid and liquid oils that turns solid when it cools down. Equal parts: coconut oil, peanut oil, macadamia oil, olive oil, and ghee (clarified butter). Using different butters does a couple of things. They all take up different cbd/thc in different ratios as well as up-taking thc with different solubilities. When you ingest the finished oil, the cbd and thc are released at different rates to the body making the oil both stronger and longer lasting. Cheers. Congrats on the landslide victory!

The PC isn't sativa dominant apparently, though for some reason I thought it was when I first started growing it.
I don't have the background of growing enough strains to really know how the PC compares, but it's the stinkiest plant I've grown so far. The smell is very distinctive but I have trouble describing it even though it's almost constantly clinging to my hands and arms and clothes. Kind of sickly sweet like very overripe fruit but amplified several times. 'Cloying' is the word I believe. When the bud dries it has a bit more of a skunky smell but more sweet. I don't think I can reccomend it as a stealth strain.
My only real flowering sativa is the Mama Thai, which is not strong smelling and more spicy and peppery. Mine is fairly weak but I like the high a lot. Weakness could be the pheno or else something with my growing.

I found a woman on the internet who uses the MB2 to make concoctions with honey, also maple syrup, with great results apparently. She did say that honey doesn't make as good a solvent. If not for cannabis then I'd like to try all sorts of herbs and berries and fruit.

Thanks for that great info Iwltfum. I've never done any of this stuff before. I just figured out last night what decarbing is. I see that after all these years I've been in the dark about how smoking cannabis even works :) So much to learn.
I'm sure you're right about the olive oil. I also picture it going rancid more quickly than coconut oil, though I might be wrong about that.

That was a great post! I have to try that in the future!!!

All caught up again Weaselcracker and what a great read it was. Me and the wife were both having a good laugh over the using the children's lunch money and getting the gf jealous remark. Nice fix with the plant, she's looking much better :thumb:

And as the prizes start to roll in...

No problem! I'm might end up contradicting myself here, but I had a rambling thought:
Nothing wrong with olive oil, you just have to be careful with the heat and it can limit what kind of edibles you are able to make because of that. According to a great chef that I used to work with, olive oil is better when kept under 200f, but it's best for cold oil purposes (salad dressings and dips and things like that). A high quality coconut oil can withstand about 350f (150f more than a high quality EVOO). So it really depends on what you like to eat I guess. Wouldn't it be cool to make a cannabis infused salad dressing or a bean dip for chips?! Making a cannabis infused olive oil would be impossible for me with the method I use, because I always cook it with water and then strain the solids out to get the oil after it cools down, but if that machine could run at low enough temps, you might not need water and could possibly be able to get away with making some infused olive oil!

I think we've got the temps covered. This sounds really promising! :cheer:
This pic shows the complete control panel for the machine. That's all there is. Inside there's a mixing blade which seems to come on every couple minutes just for a quick stir.
Also I emailed the company last night to ask if they had any arguments against me trying honey.

/\ That looks awesome! Strange that the max time is 8 hours though. I usually cook mine in the crock pot on low for 12hrs. Not sure what temperature that is though. What do the instructions say about the oil function? Anything about what kind of oil they're talking about?
