Obi's Northern Light Autoflower - Indoor T5 - Soilless Mix - 2014

My personal preference is to keep a couple of 6500k bulbs in the grow. But other people may not do that. It is because I still want a bit of vegetative growth up to the end. But that is just me. :goodjob:

That's exactly where I'm at right now. I just swapped out 2 more 6500k's. I'm now running (2) 6500k's with a set of (3) 3000k's on either side. Total of (8) bulbs. I'm gonna ride this setup until they tell me to change. Could be later, could be never

Hey Obi my friend, here are a few thoughts for your consideration. I don't do a flush at the end. I'll explain...I cut off the top buds or any buds that are ready for the chop in my opinion. That leaves the lower less ripe buds to grow fatter and the popcorn buds to fatten up. That makes trimming easier on me (not so much to trim at once). I can't find anywhere in the rule book where it says I have to chop the whole plant all at once. I put the stems of the cut buds in some distilled water for a couple of days or ph'ed water is good. Change the water every day. That is the flush and it makes the smoke much smoother. If you are only going to be doing bubble hash then that step is not needed. I wash my buds. That way I get much smoother smoke and higher quality meds and a larger yield to boot.

I'm not sure how I'm going to finish out this grow. Much depends on the initial harvest date. This grow could go early or late, I really don't know. The breeder lists flowering period as 7-9 weeks. I am anticipating something in the realm of 8-12 weeks. I'm not sure when I want to start counting flowering days. I'll probably start with the first of this month to make things easy for myself. That will get me my ball park date to start examining Trichs. I think I had 6 of 8 plants in full flower by then.

I like your thoughts regarding the staggered harvesting. Picking only the flowers that are at the desired peak harvest threshold. If this grow runs long I may be able to do this.

Feel free to laugh at an old hippy. I wish you the best my friend. :high-five:

I'd much rather laugh with an old hippy than at one ;)

Here's to future laughs,

Day 39

Just some pics from this evenings fussing about. Trying my best to not fix what ain't broke :)

These pics are a little higher res than previous.

...Some of the girls look like they could have been drawn by Dr Seuss:cheertwo::cheertwo:

Yeah! It's pretty crazy how much these girls droop before lights out. By day 36 I had to get some mid-day pics up for everyone to see. It's good to know they actually do stand proud at some point every day.

I got a 50x jewelers loupe from scamazon about £10 and use for trich spotting and can take pics thru you don't need nothing fancy any magnification above 40x will work :) you should start getting sugary anytime now looks like they have finished stretch? And focusing on flower? :bong:

Thanks for the feedback scottish!

I do think the stretch is slowing. There are two plants left that are late bloomers and getting bushy but they too are now in flower I think. Everything I do here on out will be geared towards flower. Lighting, NPK, etc.

Cheers!

I never located the time lapse video to show droop overnight. I noticed when I repotted they drooped less but this . It's one of those times when soil and hydro differ.

This one has a little star. This one has a little car. My, what a lot of fish there are :-)

Subscribed Obi Wan, you have a very cool journal here. Easy read from the start, nice box, clean grow, outstanding, thank you.

I am going to grow Autos in my veg room while I have Photoperiod growing in my bloom room. Please keep up dating like you do it helps a lot. Looking forward to how high they get, how wide they get and what the yield will be so I will know how many Autos to start with.

Reps are on me.

Good idea about autos in vegging room. I'm going to borrow that :)

Thank you, thank you 60cal. I'm glad to have you along for the journey. I'll be sure to continue to capture measurements throughout the grow. A calculated perspective will provide great visual information and spatial relationships for reference.

Happy growing!

05/07/2014 Journal entry
Day 40

I had one plant in drought mode. She was far too dry. She is showing signs of under-watering droop and nutrient deficiencies in her leaves. A few containers are on the verge of needing water and a few are still pretty good yet since the flush.

I had time for a quick feed all around and a pic or two.

Watered just shy of 1/2 strength bloom NPK range of nutes
5Gal + 10ml Grow + 17.5ml Micro + 25ml Bloom + 24ml pH Down
water pH 8.1 -> 7.1 -> 5.5

I wound up using only about 2 gallons of my nute solution. Between the eight plants that's all that was needed. My main goal was to deep water/feed the dry plant and re-introduce some nutes and top off the other plants.

Happy growing everyone,
/Obi
