This girl is the runt of my 4 she was the last to pop through the soil, the shortest, and has least amount of bud so far. I’m excited I’m pretty excited to try her
That's a nice problem to have. I like the support stakes, tying a plant to the tent is never a good a idea, unless you wanna accidentally shred your plant. Oh, and try not to drop lights on your biggest plant, I've done that too...
So I couldn’t resist and decided to clip a small bud that wasn’t to important to try a taste test today. The bud I clipped was full of seeds I have seen them on the plant but this being my first grow with no experience I didn’t catch on. I don’t see any other hermaphrodite plants thankfully so let’s hope there arnt.
On another note smoke report:
I dried enough to pack one bowl, I trimmed and cut then placed inside a paper bag. I placed into a food dehydrator at 115 F for about an hour and a half.
Smell: more plant smelling not like bud I’ve smelled before
Taste: very piney but nice
High: At first more of a head high which quickly turned into a very relaxing body high. Overall my mood was very happy and worry free.
You'll find on your early samplers as well as while your harvest is drying it will smell like fresh cut hay. That smell fades the more the bud dries. Once you get her into the cure is where you'll start to notice the real scents you're accustomed too. The fruity, skunky, earthy, spicy, citrusy, blend of bubble gum scents and under tones. The high will change with the age of your buds too. They tend to amber and mellow as they age and cure up. I've kept weed as long as a year and a half and it only gets better, as long as you store it properly.
Thanks @Agemon your right that is the perfect way to describe the smell. When you store it for up to and over a year do you keep it in a mason in a cool dark place?
After a lot of debating I decided earlier in the week to chop down my hermie plant as I did not want to risk the rest of my crop. But it’s not all bad news I did get a nice yield from it and it’s all drying now. I have also carefully inspected my other 3 girls and I think I’m in the clear I hope
Ya I’m drying in the tent I know the environment isn’t perfect buuut once the other 3 plants are done I’m planning to use the tent and make it the perfect environment. I feel like this batch is drying a little to quickly but I really don’t know.
If possible you want to dry your buds in a cool dark place with pretty low humidity. If you feel like your buds are getting too dry you should put them in the container idealy a mason jar with a 62% Boveda pack.
Ya for this one plant it’s not the optimal drying in the tent but it’s what I can do. When the other 3 are done I do plan on making the tent the optimal drying space.
I did make some coconut oil edibles from the trimmings from the one and man I think I ate to much oil while cooking cause I am feeling it lol here’s a pic
For Oils I use flowers but if you're just starting out with edibles trim is good. 1 ounce to 1 cup of coco oil. BTW, coco oil substituted for veg in brownies is THE BOMB!!!! Chocolate and coconut flavor without the annoying texture of coconut. I was skeptical at first cause I don't like eating coconuts.
My hermie buds are all dried and Jarred, ended up with just over an ounce. Overall I’m very happy and really can’t wait to see what my other 3 girls do! Here’s a few pics of whats dried and I’ll post some of the other 3 tonight
