Noob's First Grow: Indoor, Coco, 4 Plants

Thanks again. Nope definitely don't want headaches or shakes. The material from these gals is destined to be given to friends for "daytime use" to smoke, as well as edibles for Mrs. Bard and me, also for daytime.

On my last (and first!) harvest of the Purple Kush I waited for about 25% amber as Penny suggested, as that was for sleepy time.

Hoping that if I get the timing right, these gals - Green Crack, GSC, and Trainwreck - will make for happy and energizing gummies. BTW, the Green Crack smells awesome!! Very sweet lemon aroma, like a Halls' Lemon Cough Drop (in a good way).

Thanks again! The part that was confusing me was the new growth at the top. So wait until the trichs around that new growth are almost all cloudy? Of course, by that time, the older buds, even just an inch or two down, will be farther along, and showing quite a bit of amber.

What I take away from all of these comments is sort of "weighted average" across the whole plant, looking for as much cloudy as possible, and very little clear. If there are a few ambers, so be it.

A little more art than I was expecting as a result of the foxtailing. Thanks guys.

Hey Bard. Haven’t been by here recently but glad to see things are going well! Hope all is good in the hood!

Hey Magoo! Thanks for stopping by. All is well with the plants. Needed a little advice on some foxtailing as you probably saw, but otherwise looking good. The axe will be coming down in the next week or so.

I need to stop by your journal as well. Hope you had an awesome weekend!

Thanks guys! I'll give it several more days and then scope it again.

Penny, the trichs on the new bud-thingies with the fresh white pistils are all clear. Lower down on the plant, about mid-level bud looks like this (yesterday):

makes me dribble and forget what we are looking for !!!. lol. There are a few strains i have grown that foxtail at the end . i always felt it was a desperate attempt by her to form new buds in her old age for survival. We forget sometimes that she is all about staying alive to seed at any cost. You can budtrim them too as i have done in the past. result was good as she put more into her girth for her last week ( barneys red diesel in 1st 420 journal here ). it can also be done to fatten buds out at a loss of bud length slightly on mature buds. Tou have a good understanding of what you want as a stone which is a great help to your intended result. some sound advice as usual from members about waiting a little longer. great work mate

I think you are right. I know that the urge to procreate is really strong... wink wink. I bet that is what is going on with her - a last ditch attempt to attract a mate. I don't think I will do any bud trimming, though. Just going to let her do her thing until she is ripe and ready. I am really lucky that so many great growers take the time to stop by when I hit a bump in the road and need advice - you included!

Have a great night (or morning, I guess given the time difference). Thanks again.

I'm not seeing but maybe 2-3% amber. You got time.

Yup! I saw/said the same thing yesterday when I posted the microscope pics: "My rough estimate, with limited experience, is about 30-40% clear, 50-60% cloudy, and just a few amber." Definitely appreciate all you guys helping me with the foxtailing learning. Will just keep going and scope her again in 5-7 days. Thanks Derbs!
