Just a quick update. Last night I gave them a quick watering and some calmag. 6.8 ph. I didn't move the camera to see the effects of watering. Kinda cool to see in just 12 hours over lights out the changes.

In the last couple days I topped another one and did some light defoliation to allow light to get down to the center. The LST has helped a ton with that but I took a couple leafs to help. I've decided to not flip this weekend but next. Give them a full 8 weeks of veg. The next watering will have some open sesame along with full nutes.

Now I want to know people's opinions about the flip to flower. How long should my dark period be during the flip? I've read about 16 hours the first time then 12/12 after that. But I've also read about 11/13. What is everyone's take on that?

I can't claim to be any kind of expert, but I can tell you about my experience during my current first grow; I wasn't fully aware of the long dark period at the point of flip, so I just changed from 18/6 to 12/12 overnight. After 10 days the first flowers started to appear.

On my next grow I'll try an extended dark period to see what happens, but apparently 10 days from flip to flower is pretty standard.

I'd be very interested in how long it takes for the first flower if you chose to do an extended dark period. Best of luck whichever way you go about this.

In my case it was pretty simple to figure that out; I have solar panels so I get free power during daylight. I also wanted to be able to see the girls before and after work. Knowing these variables I've settled on 08:00 - 20:00 lights on.

Unless you have green lights, you may want to plan your lights on time around your working day.

As to 12/12 or 11/13, some here grow 11/13 from seed with pretty good success, others use the Green Lantern method. 12/12 seems most popular, I would slower lower that the last 2 weeks, as well as temps, and RH if possible.

Good luck on the new soil mix. Cook it for a month if possible.

Well this weekend was another productive one. I got my 4x2x5 tent ready to go back into service. We just started germination on 5 seeds yesterday:

Crop king seeds super silver haze
Dinafem cheese
Dinafem OG kush
Barneys pineapple chunk
Heavyweight fruit punch

The crown Royale will wait for the next run. I plan to harvest every 2 months. I know this grow I will yield or hope to yield enough to last quite a while, but we wanted some variety.

We decided to build a SCROG also. Well, she did lol. She said she wanted it, so the lady gets it. It is a 3'6" square with holes every 4". From what I read we did it right. I made it pretty close to their current height. Taller than most though. Hope it works. Started weaving a bit through. Kinda like LST, put them where you want them.

Just as a fun tidbit, I had a LED bulb (25 wall watts) and said what the hay and put it it. It's just in the corner putting light in a dark spot. Trying to get get some rare phenotype with HID and LED. I guess it does something I don't know lol. Little experiment.

I'm going to start the seeds in these jars then put the best buds in them.

I'm going to flip next Saturday. I'm going to shut the lights off early to get 16 hours dark then the traditional 12/12 6am to 6pm. I picked up some green lights so I can work with them when lights out. Also, I have some soil cooking up right now for the new girls!

Never too much information Nismo. The way I see it, the purpose of a journal is to record everything. When things are going great, like they are in your grow, you won't see many comments. Rest assured people are reading and the second you have an issue you'll get loads of great advice.

The big guns on here look in and think "good grow, no advice needed" then they move on to another journal to check if anyone needs a hand. You've got it nailed so far

The time lapse I have I pushed some buttons in a certain sequence I guess and it runs non stop on AC power. 32 gb memory card takes a week to fill when taking pictures every 30 seconds. It's awesome. $50 well spent on amazon.

The camera's IR runs at 840 or 850nm and from what I found on the lovely interwebs is that anything over 720nm is safe and will have no effect on the girls. The other camera does not have night vision or anything else but does have a LED on the top of it. So I threw some mylar tape to cover it. I want some fat girls not hermies.

Yeah, I was wondering about a flashing record light. I ended up using electrical tape over the power light on the oil filled rad I have in my tent for night time warmth.

Well nothing really has changed today but since I'm here I might as well.

I received my fox farm trio today. Found them in the 1 lb. jars so those should last me quite a while.

The 5 new seeds were moved into a wet paper towel from the jars yesterday and I just checked on them and all 5 have cracked open. Ill wait to see where they are tomorrow and put them in soil in they are showing a good tap root.

And I did a little light test with that LED. Its awesome to see that it has an improvement on the amount of light reaching down.

These girls are growing extremely fast. I'll give them their last feed in veg tomorrow night it is looking like. Open sesame will be added. Oh another thing, I picked up a 3 gallon weed sprayer so I don't have to move them to water them and can leave them be.
