Nismo & Canna's Epic Quest For The Hookah Smoking Caterpillar

Not much to share but we have 14 of 16 total heads popping out right now. The last 2 will be up by tomorrow and they will be saying their hellos.

Just a few pictures of the little ones in their most vulnerable state.

Excuse me, but is this seat taken?

Hiding here in the background as well :)

Looking forward to seeing what you guys produce this round--always a good time watching from the shadows.

Woo!
We planted a few other plants yesterday. Some project plants for Nis, a replacement for one if the Northern Light autos. It sprouted with a deformity, we will probably keep the nla until harvest, but wanted a replacement in case it goes rogue. Lol! And we planted a Blue Cheese auto in with the aloe plants to see if it sprouts. The seed soaked for a day, then went on a plate for 2 and didn't crack or sprout. I buried the seed in an aloe fillet to keep it hydrated and to hopefully promote sprouting.

I am interested in seeing how that Aloe does with that hard to germinate seed. I have a friend who has been trying to grow Kilimanjaro strain for a while and his success rate with germination. This might be something that could help on those hard to crack seeds. I think he is trying a tea soak of something right now but I don't know if its helping.

Ya...those Kilimanjaro have been a pain

I have pure kelp landing today and have an aloa plant in my front yard I may try

I know SweetSue and others use aloe for clones, so seems like an option

Still makes me wonder why the Kilimanjaro seeds are so hard to germinate.

Sorry for the lack of updates gang as we have been a little busy around here. Today is day 12 for most of them, so you can imagine the size of them. Today they got their first taste of water with a little tea (5 gallons water and 1 ml of tea). They will be perky as can be in the morning so I'll be sure to snap a few pictures.

This is the first time using the cobs at this early stage of veg and we have found that they are very sensitive to this kind of light lol. They are 12" away and at 25 watts to each cob and still showing some tacoing. They will iron themselves out and take off after this drink.

We have also found that the GR is sealed very well as the temps do not fluctuate much, the humidifier runs every now and then, and the co2 burner runs maybe 5 - 7 mins an hour at the most to maintain 1500 ppm.

I'll be back in the morning with some pictures of the ladies...or gents with the new ones. A few Jedi Glue regs should be sprouting as we speak.

Happy Friday everyone! Roll one up and enjoy it tonight, you deserve it.

:high-five:

Thanks Nis, you're right, I deserve it. :passitleft:

Nice environmental control buckaroo. :high-five: That's gotta make you feel a little proud. :cheesygrinsmiley:

If you have any fulvic acid around try soaking the seeds in a mild dilution. It's a go-to for old seeds. It might do the trick for you Chris.

I am very proud of what we have here Sue. Environment is key and we control literally everything. A lot of time, money, and energy has gone into it so now it is time to reap the rewards.

The smile upon entering the GR is back. :)

Great to have you and your GR smile back! Can you tell me a little about the CO2 burner you have? Is it an inexpensive option vs a tank?

Upfront cost is a bit more with the co2 burner but it is cheaper and less hassle in the long run. It was close to $600 for a 4 burner generator and a controller. You will also have to have natural gas or LP to run it (have to know which you will use upfront since the regulators are different). That was easy for us since had a gas line where the burner is so didn't have to change much of the piping.

We got a 4 burner since our room size is 13' x 12' x 8' and it does the job just fine. If your space is smaller than 800 cu/ft, I would look at a 2 burner.

Now one thing I will mention is that we do not run an exhaust while the lights are on, or at all for that matter since we supplement the co2. For the smell we have a 6" fan on a filter in the room just circulating and scrubbing the air and it does great.

Having a sealed environment is almost like cheating with growing and I would recommend it to anyone, if they have the means. If you have any other questions, let me know ween.

Damn... sounds like a dream set up nis! Ps love your cant-stand-ya avatar .

I haven't started looking into sealed environments......can you share what you did for that and what you need to have as a baseline in terms of room? I am looking at going that direction when we finally get our place in the location we want it.
