Nick Hardy's Big Grow 2023 Gorilla Glue Skunk 11 OG Kush Coco Peat Co2 Mars Hydro

I slept in didn't wake up to 5 am, didn't get much done besides uploading a 100 pics.
I have to label everything and string it together in the right order.
Today's already too busy to even take pics.
Maby tonight!

Looking forward to it - maybe I’ll still be able to read after flush, train, trim, change irrigation system in the morning 😂

Big day of work tomorrow.

Don't forget to stop and enjoy your harvest now and then. :thumb:
Can't all be work.

Looking good, Nick. Love the new rig.

But can't you find a way to hang those lights rather than holding them up by the cords? That seems like a problem waiting to happen.
They’re not hung really. Fitted and super glued on the spots left for screw holes, the cables not structural particularly. They just rest on top at one end. They’re solid mini figure 8 connectors supporting maybe 50g total on one end.

Edited - they are featherweight lights and the cable is stiff double cable with a figure of eight connector with maybe 2cm of input. Less weight than I dunno - something very light on it with the probably illegal super glue at the other end. The connectors aren’t little dinky pins. Its a Japanese all in one set. Non replaceable LED fluro style bulbs.

Wow some day.

Haul the girls all out for trim and train and drain. Mixed 30L in 5 bottles of 6L of my clean and repair fix Ph’d right down. Watered to heavy run off with that. Then switched out the whole irrigation system all 24 plugs to Netafim Netbow rings but that meant new connections x24 😅 Working in a sauna and shifting plants around - the wheels are great though.

When the 6 more concerning plants had been semi flushed they went in with their new collars set in the part of the room the best ones were before. Then just t&t the other 12 and took a break. Mixed 100L of new nute mix in the tank. Ph’d way low but back up to range on mix and high end EC recommended because they look fine and we’re running Co2. 2.8 people took 4 hours.

Took @Bill284’s advice and sampled some harvest, ordered some comfort food went home and tested the new irrigation setup.

12 watered to run off in 10 minutes I guess. A couple of connectors failed and a bit of splash and I need to do less say 2 at time rather than 4 because I forget that just stopping the tap doesn’t stop the flow already there.

Clean up was 15 minutes maybe? It was like 30 minutes. That should come down to 7-8 minutes by only doing two at a time.

“Less haste, more speed”

The EC and Ph near perfect out. First time in since flipped. I reckon I might feed the sorta flush ones (5/6 Skunk 11) this same mix tomorrow afternoon. Def need to raise the lights on one section tomorrow I think.

Got my HR Lady to arrange for her kid and nephew to come and shift the giant Co2 cylinder tonight to replace it in the morning and then Tuesday can finally take my truck to the body shop and run some errands on the way.

Just snuck back and looked at them. They’re kinda bare after treatment at the hands of the demon barber but I can see how they’ve got their personalities now. There’s gonna be some good stuff I think. Way better than the banners after this penultimate trim. Trunks are looking thick. Roots visible through the airpots.

Photos tomorrow. Not fair on the ladies after a day like they’ve had today.

Hope you all have good’uns today like I did.

Nick

Raised the lights on two sections. Gas is off for 24 hours due to supply issue (I can pick up two new tanks tomorrow morning but can’t carry the big one… wait I can. Anyhoo they I swear have grown in two hours. Def watering the problem ones with nutes tomorrow. Then I’m flushing the tank of the last 30L to the drain and making a close enough full 200L for the next feed.

They averaged a bit over 2.3L each allowing for spillage - there’s about 40L left but got this new nute blend and additives dialled in now. I see where I was probably too cautious. I get it (I hope!) now. High EC in but that’s ok and high end of the scale. From low end of the scale nute dosage. But that’s fine got the Gas. But I need to Ph this blend down with the additional additives (Total with aminos and Root Boost) that’s easy enough. Pretty sure I have within a few mls how much Ph down I’ll need.

But cleaning the tank once a week I reckon is 100% necessary. So what I lose a few a bit of nute mix. I’m buying 20,000ml each of A/B at a time. 😂 but peace of mind something weird doesn’t happen in the tank - empty and spray with a cleaning agent once a week. Flush. My water is essentially free from a borehole.

This hobby escalated quick 😅

It's an insane amount of work with two tents, can't even imagine the amount of work for you mate.

Good job you've got all these different managers to help you grow

18 plants and popping 21 all new strains tomorrow. Upping the flower room from 18 to 21 which I think is max for the space. Would like 24. Might germ 24 and anything over 21 can go in 15 gallon airpots outside 😂

I honestly don’t stress about the outdoor ones. They’ve been getting either well water or low nute leftovers. Both look great. But they’re more for checking the sunlight for the greenhouse build.

But yeah - 18 plants with 2 people plus a couple of 16 year old girls helping with say irrigation system assembly it was tough. No way could have done it without her

Two words. Hand truck.

One of those will allow you to move them around by yourself super easy.

Oh its not the work its physically carrying 100kg of gas tank on my own up a 20 step flight of stairs with a glass wall is totally impossible for my body. Its nearly 12” diameter and 4ft long! 😂 Unless Hard Truck is a levitation device…. 🤣

But I can take the 40kg baby one up first in the morning and wait for help on the big one in the evening. 😀

EDIT - oh right yeah - my floating wooden stairs won’t take kindly to me pulling Co2 cylinders up and down them on one of those!

But me and my Gas Consultant and Change and Moves Manager discussed it today. And agreed we’ll keep the big one upstairs. Its a bit of pain we can cover that with an emergency small one and then its maybe 2 trips a month across 2 Co2 systems rather than 4-5

Also as I think @InTheShed can attest there is a regional shortage of Co2 at the moment. Its cheap as at the moment but its possibly going up as NZ is out so ours might get shipped there for more money. We’ll take the bigguns for cheap while we can. Infact - I should probably just upgrade to two big ones.

@Azimuth - thank you. I’m an idiot. Tomorrow one small one big. Hook up small one upstairs. This week while it runs out follow the dedicated water or electric cables from downstairs to up with a Co2 pipe. I can dial it in enough to learn the additional pipe length. No more Co2 stair carrying shenanigans and yep then a Hand Truck would be a valuable household purchase! Cheers. Just mentioning it made we think it through.
I’ll get a second big tank in a week when the small one runs out and then always have a double tank system when the veg goes live.

😎

I used to deliver oxygen tanks up flights of stairs by myself in high school. Strap the tank to a hand truck and pull it up one stair at a time and bring down the empty one on the way out.
From the picture below you’ll see the stairs in question. They “float” with 1cm gap between them and the glass wall. So they’re wooden. Not really what I want to run a trolley over 🤣

But - now I have multiple conduits for water and electricity and water why not run Co2? I understand how I can set the sensor to keep it optimal with the longer line.

Then have two big tanks downstairs (where a truck trolley is actually useful) and can switch between two between the two tanks with fittings I already have in 30 seconds. Sweeeet!

Cheers mate! You tipped my brain to it

Muchos…

I know right? I've been checking the spot market for Thai CO2 all weekend to see how my arbitrage is looking. Might have to make a move on it when the markets open tomorrow morning.

:hmmmm:
I’d laugh more but went to the shop today and they’re out of the big tanks until maybe Saturday.

NZ scooped it all for their craft beer and soda market.

EDIT - You’re not in NZ 😂 Trying to remember who is now 🤦🏻‍♂️

Fun watering time. Did real slow as 6 had never been watered off the rings - these were our “special 6” we kinda flushed yesterday so checking for and finding some pipe issues.

Then fed all the other 12 two at a time.

Total out was 40L so 2.2L mean but reckon the 6 so that just got the flush basics took 50-60% of that. They were thirsty and slow to run off.

The smaller Gorillas (I think) maybe these are wrong way round took a medium drink and the taller OG Kush took barely anything. Out I got the same readings all round basically which was awesome to see as they all look proper happy and we seem to have balanced them all out with slightly different treatment. Hugely rewarding feeling.

Had a chat with my Nutrient Delivery Director. We have 60L of the current mix left. We reckon we’re close on daily feeding now. Next one we do all 18 with that 60L remaining (assuming they look how we think in the morning) and then will drain the tank. Clean it and start fresh. Sunday we’re gonna need to change up and add Booster for Week #3 of Flower. So I reckon a full 200L should just get us over the line until then.

Mad numbers. 200L in 5 days. 😅

My Purchasing Manager bought me an early Valentines Gift. 4 matching hand pumps for the A/B 20L bottles. A very nice surprise. I mean obvious, right? They are heavy and hard to pour. Kept meaning to pick some up and she organised it which was why she is Purchasing Manager 😆

Man I wish I had your staff. All I have is a couple of assistant schleppers!
Give them new titles and sit back and feel like you’re a big boss 🤣
Is that a promotion for her? If so, please give her our congrats!
I will Azi, it will sweeten the deal because its one of those promotions that comes with more work and responsibility but no more of the folding stuff 😂
