Don't know. It's usually propagated with the underground stems/roots and quite difficult to eradicate because it spreads so easily with such small amounts of root.
Ahh, ok.
Fair enough.
I looked it up, and it said that they have very short lives spores, not seeds, so maybe I will not find horsetail?
I could not find it online in Colombia.
@Sueet helped me to find dandelion seeds (and burdock, sorrel, etc.)

Burdock is also especially invasive and difficult to get rid of ..... be sure that is what you want before you plant it. (Burdock is the plant that puts out little spiky seed balls or burrs that stick to everything and anything they can.

(I'm on year five of trying to clear my yard of it, and this is the first year I've found less than 25 plants - it is not a large yard lol)

Hmmm....
Ok, good advice! Thanks!

Maybe I should just plan to grow anything invasive in pots?

I grow almost everything in pots - Anything I plant in the ground has to fight with the 3 giant maple trees for water and nutrients - it rarely goes well no matter how much I try to keep it watered. Plus .. I move things around to catch light sometimes... the price of living under trees :D

Hi Mountainman!
You can drop your rucksack to the side of the door. (Weapons unloaded, please.)
I think my big problem here was that I could not find good soil, and the locals told me to put regular dirt in the pots.
Then the hardware store (where they sell dirt) sold me the wrong stuff, and then when they stalled, I gave them way too much water.
Anyway, now I have a much better routine, thanks to help from @Emilya, and @Azimuth , and many others.
And now, @Buds Buddy stumbled across this new SIP, and check out his pictures on his thread!
So I am trying to learn this new SIP thing. Everyone seems to be having good success.
Just harvested the small one. The big gal is doing her dark time now. Getting ready to up-pot the 6 Clones to SIP Buckets either this weekend (if I have time) or next weekend (4 day weekend for me). One of them I'm doing with SoHum Super Soil. I'll be using Re-Charge on that one @5 gr. per gal. every other feeding.

Oh, I forgot!
Here are the seeds, and this is the hatchling factory. I had to lift it off of the heading pad just a little, so it gets warm (not hot).

This one seems a little faded, so she is the one I thought to try to paper towel method with.

Thank you for any and all suggestions and help.
If thing go they way I think they will, I am headed for an outdoor greenhouse environment. (I don't know if that makes a differnce.)

(Oh, and just to mention, I do have some Papa Zeke's Organic Clone and Seedling Booster, if you think I should add a half-touch to the faded one...)
Man u should have sprouts by Tomorrow I always sprout them in a paper towel in zip lock bag I like the way your doing it

Ok, I am flat out of time. I found a 10 pack of the SIP buckets on the Zone, and I bought two.
If I can get time I want to finish this homemade SIP today, but it takes time and I don't have.

Mountain man, I am going back to direct seeding. I think I have the technique down, so I am going with it. Azimuth seems to think there is benefit to the little roots finding myco and good nutes and things right from when the seed cracks open, so I have been going with that. So far they have all come up (maybe 12-13 seeds now), so I am going to proceed with that.

2 - 10 packs ? That's a hell of a grow if you do all 20. At least 12 lbs. I'd say. Probably even more.

Ok, here is the prototype. I will still have to shade the roots, but I can worry about that in a few days.
I packed the net pot tight with regular soil.
Then I put on a 1" layer of regular soil on the bottom (for a buffer).
Then I filled it to the top (except for a Solo cup of regular soil mix) in the center.
Then I put on a 1/2" layer of regular soil on the top (because I don't think much happens in the top 1/2" anyway).
I am presently wetting the "Solo cup's worth" in the center.
There is Dynomyco throughout.

This is really quite an eyebrow raiser for me, to pack it with 95% supersoil!

I hope to tuck the seed in, in a couple of hours.
Actually I only started soaking it an hour ago, but I think three hours should be lots.
When I first started growing, they said to soak the seeds for five minutes, and that seemed to work (as long as the rest of the soil is properly damp).
Haha, watch, this will be the seed that won't come up!! Haha! (I hope not!) I hope it comes up.
I will add some water through the center when I go to plant, and then I will also put some in the reservoir in a few days.
Can you see when the water roots enter the reservoir?

Only bury the seed about 1/2" deep. I always start my seeds in the soil. I don't do any soaking at all. Moisten the soil, plant the seed & wait for it to pop it's head up. I don't water again till it does. Usually only takes 2-3 days.

They won't be super prevalent in the reservoir, but should populate the connector cup thoroughly. But you will get a few stray roots that jut out into the air space but they'll get root pruned fairly quickly.

The bigger issue you'll have is algae in the reservoir if it is exposed to light. You can mitigate that by covering it with burlap or something.

Yeah, ok! That is very close to what I do.
I got it covered about 1/2", and will just keep it moist. Usually it comes up in 2-3 days.
I agree, I think the soak is probably not really necessary. When a seed senses wet dirt, it does its thing. And I like Azi's comment that it is good to have it directly in myco and microbes when it cracks. It seems to be working so far.

Ok, perfect!

Yes, I ordered some shade cloth, and hope to cover it before the roots reach the reservoir, or I have any standing water. Thanks!

Ok, I planted Friday evening, and am keeping it moist.
This is exciting!
I ordered some weed cloth, and might replace the cardboard when it gets here.
I noticed the slits on the factory units are much more developed then the holes I drilled in the blue cup.
A sawzall could have made some nice holes, but the factory units already have them, so I will try to run at least one or two of the same seeds through the new units when they arrive, so we can see if the homemade unit works as well as the factory unit.

Hi all!
We just got visas and permission to move, so now we are looking to move.
First I will rent in the new valley, and will probably start a new thread.
Then I will run that thread until we move to the homestead.
I lost the SIP seedling. It just didn't really come up (did not respond like the others).
That is probably just as well. I will move to the new location, and start a fresh batch.
I will probably harvest some of the girls a little early, just because it will be so much less work to move with harvested than with live plants!
I will need to build a new greenhouse for the new roof, and will start another thread.
In the meantime, I will keep these girls growing, and we will transport any who are too young to harvest early!
I may be spotty for a while but I will post a link when we get to the new thread.
Thanks everyone, for all the good advice and help!
Also the new 20-packs of SIPs should arrive (and if not, I will make my own).
Happy toking!!
