Newbie First Grow - Outdoors - Bag Seeds

Little info:
Controlling budworms is all about timing. Since the larvae spend most of their time protected by the buds where they feed, treatment after hatching does little good to destroy populations. Instead, applying pesticides before hatching or to newly emerged caterpillars is the best solution. Synthetic pesticides like permethrin, esfenvalerate, cyfluthrin, and bifenthrin require fewer applications because they last longer in the environment, but they can be dangerous to beneficial insects like bees, especially if part of your flower garden is already in bloom.

OK...For the bud worms, you want to use (and I'm going to spell this wrong) Bacillium Thuringiensis (or "BT"). But, the problem is that wherever you had those worms, they were likely also pooping and you can usually expect bud rot to follow.

Well, time to start using it, Girl! :cheertwo:

The BT is a fungus that's safe for humans but paralyzes the jaws of the leaf-eating worms/caterpillars so they stop feeding and die. It sounds like something you wouldn't want on your plants but is OMRI approved for organic gardening (for whatever that's worth!) :)

All done....everyone got feed 1 antacid per gallon mixed with their regular fertilizer. I did note when I brought it that it was missing calcium and mental to pick up some lime....but forgot

Here they are before I applied the garden safe and diatomaceous earth mix.

They look the same just with a fine coating of white now.

I have really got to share this. My kids have dogs and they don't have dog houses so I called a meeting and told them to build dog houses this weekend or the dogs will be given away.

I take care of my cats and the agreement was they are to take care of their dogs. They must have shelter.

So I say all u need is two sheets of plywood per house and concrete. I have cedar poles that can be cut and put in the ground as the four posts...then cut each sheet in half and u have ur roof and three sides. Cover the entire structure in the roofing stuff I have in the sheed. Total project cost each house. 20.00.

Is that what he came back with...no

He spent twice the money on what he brought and instead of building a proper dog house they built this tiny thing for a lab husky one year old girl. He spent all day and only has one dog house built. They have three to do.

When will these kids learn? He not only wasted his money but his sisters money too.

Here she is. I have not feed since before the storm. I am hoping she just needs food.

That, my friends, is leaf septoria. A fungal disease I didn't know about until I moved to the South. It starts with tiny white dots that then turn rust colored, similar to Ca deficiency. The spots get a yellow halo eventually and the centers dry up and crack. Eventually the leaf dies. I have a BD absolutely plagued with it. No more plants under or near trees.

Is there anything I can do?

Does this mean it is over for me?

Nope and nope. You can try spraying a solution of 1/2tsp baking soda on the leaves to slow or halt spore germination. This is something you are likely to have to deal with every year. Look around at native plants/trees. I'm sure you'll start seeing it everywhere. I do.

Once the leaves are too far gone, pluck them and burn them, otherwise you're just concentrating spores around your plants if you drop them or compost them. I'm looking for a solution that can be safely used until about week 3 of flower for next year.

Please let me know what u come up.with. I can't wait to get put this yard....and back to mine. Guess I will be leaving what I can't wash in his yard at the end of this grow.

I am starting to think that this will ONLY be a learning experience....instead of a harvest and learning experience.

At this point the joy of the grow is missing and it is just hurry up and finish before all my hard work is wasted.

I will look at his surrounding trees...mostly pine but plenty of others

He did spray the weeds right behind the plant with roundup about a week ago...wondering if that released the spores to fly to this plant.

Only the two autos are effected....both on opposite ends with all the other plants in between. Which means it is only a matter of time before they ate affected.

Not happy today

Here comes the rain. I just applied that dust yesterday....and feed them good.

Do I need to reapply or should I just let the rain wash it away? Thinking it may have killed what I needed it to kill and the rain can wash the powder away.

I would probably re-apply in a couple/few days since the worms need to ingest a covered leaf for it to be effective and you'll see some new worms hatch.

So now that I am awake....I think that candy kush just knocked me out. How did that happen.
I might have to pluck a little bit tomorrow morning to test after work tomorrow to verify results.
