New Moon Over Guawi: A High Brix Journey

Up Coming Aug Moon Events

PERSEID METEOR SHOWER

This year's Pereid meteor shower is shaping up to be one that should not be missed! The shower can be seen all weekend but the peak will be late night on Sunday, August 12th into early morning August 13th. The Moon will just be starting it's Waxing Crescent phase having a very low area of illumination and setting very early in the evening. This makes for a dark sky, perfect for a viewing the Perseid shower. Meteors can start as early as 10pm but the best viewing times are after mid-night until first light with up to 70 meteors an hour.

Full Moon August 26th 2018

August's Full Moon will be on August 26th for the United States and Europe. Many American Indian tribes associated the August Full Moon with the ripening of fruits and berries. For the Shawnee of the American Midwest this was known as "The Plum Moon". The Lakota called it the "Moon of Ripening". The common name today is "The Sturgeon Moon" for the large fish that is easily caught during this month in the North American Great Lakes.

Sound like a Good time for anyone in Flower

Later today - Last nights picture update, Pre GUAWI Dunk. Oh that just
reminded me, I was suppose to do a GDP Dribble after I Dunked the
Guawi and forgot
:(

Oh Bummer, was just down stairs watching the Sun-Set in the tent and just before lights out
a small INSECT flys in and lands on the lower white table top. Prior to it being smashed by my
hand it looked like a fruit fly or something ? smaller than a fly but bigger than a flea, This reminded
me yesterday I evicted a Spider thinking why are you here there is no food ? Should of paid more
attention to the sign. Anyway off to supply store for Yellow strips and cards to see if I need the
KRAKEN (Lady bugs)

Cant hang the Yellow Traps and Cards until lights on, and just finished downloading
last nights Pre-Dunk pictures I figured I would post the VEG DAY 9 / 24 From Pop shots

Also should POINT OUT the UGLY DAMAGE in the New TOP Growth on BOTH Plants
is NOT BUG DAMAGE, NOT STRESS DAMAGE just my FUBAR FIM. Now since I don't want
to slow them down I will just CORKSCREW the BITCHES, Keep running the main stem around
the pot in a upward HELIX, like a corkscrew. Hoping this will allow all the lower nodes to
branch to the top. Keeping them in the small pots and low until up-potting is a challenge
since I want to finish them in a SCROG.

Something else I remember since reading over at DJs when I first set-up the Far-Red
and noticed the BAD LED Flicker I ALSO noticed some leaf stress (slightly distorted)
So maybe that type of thing IS a bigger STRESS on some plants than I realized

The difference between MY Room and the GIRLS Room :hmmmm: they live so much more comfortably than Me

So you think your seeing a negative affect from the red? Gonna take it down..?

You live in a sauna sir

No not at all. That issue I noticed was when I had the FLASHING LIGHT Show, kinda thinking that
was the issue now. It was only a few days in before I noticed it and it cleared up so
staying the course. I'm just trying for the faster WAKE up, go to SLEEP advantage not
the EMERSON effect ( % of 660nm to 730nm) so dont expect to see anymore issues.

EDIT: If you notice the indoor temp is RISING it will hit 86 before I give in and turn on the AIR CONDITIONER

OK Here are the NEW ADDITIONS

Man Orchard has a bunch of New critters to tryout. They now have the LADY BUGS & LACEWINGS in the
same container :) They also Now have a box of beneficial nematodes that you mix in a five gallon bucket
of water and water the soil. Need to talk to DOC on these ? They still have the Praying Mantis's and other
interesting Predatory critters

Nice update Gazoo! Ladies are looking great, love that twist in the trunk... very cool. Yep 82 is pretty warm for me, 79 here ... and only feels good because it’s freaking hot as hell outside! My sister likes her place around 73-75 too cold imo

Thanks DJ

I have the heat set to come on at 71 rarely need it even in winter its not on very much not sure but there
must be a hot spring running under my house :) I do live very near to the WARM SPRINGS area which was named
for them. Right now the HUMIDITY in the house is sitting at 29% RH (tent at 55% & 73F)

OBSERVATION

The Round RootMaker 1 Gal Starter Pot looks to be loosing 4.2 ounces a Day Average

The INTERESTING observation is I can tell when the pot is Nearing the completely dry stage.
Its preceded by A Noticeable DECREASE in the amount of Water that is being lost each day.
I assume this is MY SIGNAL the plant is searching but cant find any to remove.
The below example does show this ON the day I did the DRIBBLE so expecting to see it
again tomorrow

Example the GDP

AFTER DUNK
78.6 OZ
Day 1 = 74.2 - 4.4
Day 2 = 70.4 - 3.8
Day 3 = 66.3 - 4.1
Day 4 = 62.1 - 4.2
Day 5 = 57.6
- 4.5
Day 6 = 53.7 - 3.9 Added 1.5 dribble so now 55.2
Day 7 = 50.7 - 4.5
Loosing an Average of 4.2 oz each day "FIRST DUNK" looks to
Dry between 9 and 10 days

1st DUNK was @ 38.9 OZ (23.7 Dry Weight)
so Just shy of 2 cups (15.2 oz) liquid weight was still in pot (
plant weight not accounted for)

NEW MOON
Ref Date

Nothing special going on so I figured this is a good place to
mention I did the FIRST BRIX at lights on, 10:00 to 10:30 last Night.

ONLY Mixed 0.5 oz H2O with 0.45ml BRIX.
Looks like I was using 0.9ml Brix with 1.0 oz H2O last grow SO only mixed up half
the total since the plants are still small, good call had just enough :)

WARNING WARNING
DANGER WILL ROBINSON

When placing your YELLOW STICKY CARDS near plants PAY ATTENTION

I just ripped a couple leaves off of the GUAWI

Hung 2 long STICKY STRIPs down from HID light AT corners, then was reaching in to the back
to place the CARD against the back of tent but arm brushed the STRIP and got stuck, shifting attention
to stuck arm and I accidentally STICK CARD to PLANT. Had to position it and get scissors to cut it loose :(

Looks like I need to talk to the neighbors :peace: The owner has gotten ill and cant
take care of all the fruit trees in his yard, the ADULT children don't/wont clean up
all the fallen fruit so I am fairly sure this is what I am seeing.

BTW Can Fruit fly's hurt cannabis ?

EDIT: Just found the following
I need to "LISTEN TO THE LITTLE VOICES"

Was just at Orchard looking at the Beneficial nematodes

Fruit flies and sand flies are about 1/16 of an inch long, and look like tiny black gnats. They usually hang out toward the lower part of the plant and near the planting medium. Both are vectors for disease. They and their pupae, which live in the planting medium, eat decaying organic matter. In their travels they are likely to pick up pathogens from an infected plant and transfer it to the next one.

These insects are attracted to the color yellow. One way to determine whether the garden is infected is to hang a yellow sticky card. If the garden is infected, some of the pests will stick to it. Pyrethrum, an organic insecticide completely safe to mammals, is effective at eliminating the insects. It can be sprayed or used as a soak. The soak will kill the pupae.

Biological control is an even more effective method of eliminating the pests. Beneficial nematodes are microscopic worms, which attack all kinds of soil-dwelling insects. They are available at many nurseries and by mail order. They are inoculated into the medium by adding them to the irrigation water just before it is to be used. The nematodes search out the pupae and then invade and eat them from the inside out. Then they reproduce and the cycle repeats. Within a week or so the mature flies die, and virtually no pupae emerge from the inoculated medium.

Dont think its bad enough for the nematodes, Yellow Cards and strips First, LADY BUGS next and if it does
become a problem then talk to DOC about the nematodes
