New Farmer - Advice Appreciated

Re: Hi New Farmer here. Please help

Hey Keith. You should maybe give them a bit more water. I have 3 gal pot and I give them a gallon each when there dry with no run off. I hate flushing. Sucks. And it's messy as f**k. Lol. Like to see the new updated pics of your girls. :peace:

Re: Hi New Farmer here. Please help

Looking great man. I agree with astonr420. You should lst those girls. I take it your still using the Floresent lights. You'll want those girls as close as you can. Lst is the best method for that. IMHO. Really hard to tell from the pic if it's female. In veg stage I found that it almost took a month for them to show sex. I used femed seeds so I knew they were female but still took about a month to show signs. I wish they had a app on this site for the iPhone. Then I could start a journal and post some pics. Would love to share with all you fellow gardeners. You wanna be careful not to underwater them. Could be worst than overwatering. Roots will dry up and lose there fine hairs and then they have a hard time drinking. I notice you have a two prong ph tester in your pic. Junk. Lol. I had one and now I use it has a stir stick. Lol. Get a good digital one. Worth every penny. They should really fill in now that you opened them up. :goodjob: :peace:

Re: Hi New Farmer here. Please help

Ya man. They look a little lanky. They will fill in though now that you opened them up more. If you lst them they will become a bush full of colas. Lol. They do look healthy though. :thumb:

Re: Hi New Farmer here. Please help

when this happens, they were to far from the light, or there was not enough light for them to take in... when they do the stretch it is because they are looking for the light, this is why most of the growing takes place at the dark phases... But LSTing them will help in this situation, actually I think it might benefit due to there not being to much canopy for them... you will get more terminal buds (colas) by doing this and get a more higher yield... :thumb:

and if you could get a lil closer on the pistols so I can help you confirm...

:peacetwo:

your doing great brotha.

Re: Hi New Farmer here. Please help

Whats good kieth1074,
you are focusing on the wrong area brotha, look around the 5th or 6th node, and at the main stem.... this is where you will see the sex first...

Re: Hi New Farmer here. Please help

Looking good, but they do look a little light starved. Can you double the lighting? They will show themselves, that I guarantee.

Like others have suggested it is a good time to LST, FIM, or top for more yield in the end.

Re: Hi New Farmer here. Please help

Ok got play sand for the gnats who wanna mess with my crop! and bought another ballast wit 2 more florosd, that should be good for now? I have no lute and Im spending lute I shouldnt be spending. But I take all advice seriously and I act fast! But these gnats are eating my new growth and It's buggin me, LOL arh arh get it bugging me! Stupid joke. Well anyways thanks guys!

Re: Hi New Farmer here. Please help

You should see significant growth, keep it within 4" at all times if at all possible. If they touch don't worry, just move it up a bit. The tubes don't burn on contact. Next thing you want to accomplish is to control the height as suggested. This part won't cost you a dime. Topping or pruning is an easy way to achieve using blunt force sort of. FIM is a bit more gentle but still a cut. LST is neither, think of it as trellising or training a plant. Super cropping seems more brutal than it is, not for the weak of heart. Pick one you feel comfortable with attempting.

Pics we love the pics... :circle-of-love:

Re: Hi New Farmer here. Please help

Ok now I have 6 floros over them, I also went and got play sand for the gnats, is that ok? And LST seems to be the most non threatening way for me right now till i gain some experience, I topped the rest of the pants today and no bleeding red lol, last time i topped one bled! I had some yellowing on some lower fingers, I removed the one yellowing with ease it just basicly fell off! I also had some damage done to a lateral stem but I took some teflon tape and gave her a sling, Still healthy not drooping no signs of stress from it, just a crease close to the stem, but I read supercropping and says if water and nutes can still make it through the bend it should be ok in a week or so and able to stay up on its own again, said it would get like a knucle scar from healing. having a ton of fun with this again now that I am not so worried and impatient

Can we see the light setup? Should work good. I use 8 48" tubes to veg in my garden. Quite often only 4. The sand will help with the ones in the medium but not the fliers. Hang a no pest strip or two.

You've come along way keith. As you are seeing it will grow if you just let it. It will heal as well. Having fun is the best way to grow. The rewards of your own harvest are much sweeter as well.
