New City Grower 3.5 - Our Perpetual Grow - Continued

Thanxx Cronic.
:thumb: Great news on the temperature drop! Bravo, BAR!! Your girls are looking dreamy... :dreamy: How ya doing? Mine will be gone for half of July and half of August. I don't like it at all! But I'm a bit of a baby (read as 'big giant baby')...
Grow wise I'm doing fine! Didn't realize how I depended on her so much for the little things and coming home to an empty apt is the pits.

Yes it is BAR.

Drive bye. Got a question for ya,,,,,,, lights are coming on 8-9 pm or whatever the coolest time in your neck of the woods? Only way I can keep my temps abit lower, is using a dimmable ballast. I'm loving the dimmable ballasts I just got. Hey when I get the scorcher days, I cut her back to whatever is needed. Hey even a 250 watter is better than heat stressing a plant and risking hermies. And it will carry ya intill temps drop alittle. Looking great my friend....... Keepem Green

Thanxx Woody. Exactly how does a dimmable ballast work, how large are they, and around how much cash do they run for a decent one?

I bought the galaxy 1000 waters. You can run the same bulb at 1100 watts, 1000 watts,600 watts or 400 watts. When the temp is to hot you just dial it's power down for the day cycle which in turn runs cooler. The galaxy I bought was a top dollar unit. They have them a lot cheaper too. I know we can't mention sites but you know what I'm talking about. E-Ba,,,, This is the one I use;
1000 W Select-A-Watt Turbo Charge -
You are running your lights at night? I have a passive air intake coming up from the floor which opens up under the house, which is the coolest place in most homes. So that's the air I use to cool and recirculate . In the winter when temps are cold I break out the 1500 waters. Keepem Green

Thanxx for the quick response Woody. Lights on is during the daytime & since our grow area is in my bedroom I would never get any sleep if it were during the overnight hrs. Anyway I believe the temp issues have been resolved. The tent in question didn't get above 90F today and tomorrow the serviceman is coming to charge all our ACs.

HARVESTS

LEMON KUSH (In unsealed SIP with a Micro-scrog) Day 142 / Day 71 under 12/12

For the time it took (an extra month 1/2) with this yield (around the average for our 2lt pots) I wouldn't suggest doing a SCROG on a small scale. Another experiment completed.

CRITICAL SENSI STAR (Re-veg) Day 107 / Day 61 under 12/12

I tried something different here; Remembering something from my childhood by one of the bad boys on our block this kid showed me and another friend how to take 3 trey bags (yes trey bags; telling my age), put them together, & selling one big bud for $20!
It was quite ingenious actually, spend 9 bucks today & turn it into 20 tomorrow. He took all 3 bags, put them in his hand, poured a little water on it, then rubbed his hands together until it was one major size bud. Then put it in one of those Swedish Fish bags and let it sit until the next day. Take it to the park, a guaranteed $20!

I started thinking maybe this can work with these airy buds I have so I did the same thing minus the water; The sticky trichs hold it together.

There's not one piece of stem in these hand-rolled buds

SLEESTACK X SKUNK (Re-veg) Day 105 / Day 57 under 12/12

I figured "what the heck" why not do it with this one too.

Instead of drying in a paper bag as I've been doing I put these on the screen. They might fall apart from the shaking you do when using the bag method.

Hand rolled buds. This is ingenious. What came to mind was the possibility to standardize (without being anal about it) the size of the buds for baking purposes. :hmmmm:

Thanxx Woody. Exactly how does a dimmable ballast work, how large are they, and around how much cash do they run for a decent one?

I think wood's ballast must be better than mine. I have a 600w dimmable, digital ballast. It has 3 settings - 100, 75, and 50%. With mine I found very little heat reduction running at 50% compared to full power. Mine was less than $200, and included reflector, ballast, an MH and an HPS bulb, a timer, and some pulley hangars.
Cheers :peace::passitleft:

Thanxx Cronic & Sue.
Genius my friend... Did you check out the new beans at my place.......:circle-of-love:
I'll be around there as soon as I get the chance me dear.

Happy fathers day Reg.
Thanxx Dusty & I'd like to wish a Happy Father's Day to all the 420 Dads and Single Mothers.

Thanxx Rascio. So the ballast really didn't make much of a difference for you. Am I to understand that ballast aren't compatible with LED lamps or what. LEDs are all I've ever grown with since graduating from CFLs and don't expect to be switching to anything else no time soon.

QUICK UPDATE
FATHER'S DAY
June 21, 2015

After using a ducting tube to extend the exhaust directly under the Spider 9, raising the lamp, and having our A/Cs serviced our Bloom Tent temps are finally back under control. With the tent closed all day I opened it up and it was only 84F. Yesterday before the A/Cs were re-charged the high was 91F.
Much better than the mid 90s. Now I'm a happy camper again.

IMG_00014409.jpg

All the girls look much happier. Even the issue plagued (which now I'm pretty sure was heat stress) AFGHAN KUSH to the far right is starting to throw out new pistils again.

And now for some dry weights.

These are the two I hand-rolled buds from. They came out to be nice solid, thick, and dense. There's not even a tenth of a gram from stems! I may be on to something here.
