Neikodog's High Brix Sativas

Yeah I agree with that, but the common practise is to take two plants, breed them together, sometimes test the seeds and sometimes not and then rush the cross to the market asap so your competition doesn’t do it first. There are maybe 5 seed banks in total that inbreed their lines and we still have only a handful of stabilised strains.

Neiko I am not sure what to look for in veg. It was a long time ago when I read through the journals those are just the things that stuck out to me.

Van I feel like the original breeder found a killer keeper and then kind of pimped her out. From there people proably just made S1's or tried to recreate his work. I am sure even the original breeder does as Conrad mentioned and just keeps mating the two parents together and selling seeds while letting the name do the work for him. Most everyone has had a great experience with white widow at some point in their smoking career, and even the lesser phenos were probably amazing when all you could get other than it was mexi-brick

Some amazing work you do here!! I’m new to club here. Can’t wait to try out this dbhbb gear. I am a Huge fan of the old 90s statins. I have run numerous of them. Dutch passion is who you want for blueberry for sure. Once in a while I’ll get one that’s off but usually I always get one that’s exactly like back then. Smells and tastes like you got whacked with a blueberry bush. As a matter of fact I’ll be popping a clone of her in some of this soil as soon as it’s cooked. I don’t have anymore right now but you need to try green house seeds white widow. They’re the ones that had the original back then. Every time I grew it I was never disappointed. Anything Sensi I have run has always been great too. They have the original Jack Herer. It’s the only strain listed by the Dutch as a medical quality strain. I have never run a 100% Sativa but after reading this whole journal I’m excited to try out the ace Malawi I have. Sativas have always been my favorite but I was always worried about the space requirements for them. Seems like your methods work wonders and I look forward to trying out some of what I’ve seen here to tame them. Keep up the amazing work!! :passitleft:

Welcome to my journal Farmer. I appreciate you taking the time to go through this whole journal. I'm a big fan of old school and land race genetics. I agree that the keeper blueberry will be found with Dutch Passion. The one I just finished is very nice, it has excellent taste and effect. If it was named something else other than blueberry it would be a keeper. It isn't blueberry tasting but it is very fruity and has a good punch. I went with Mr. Nice Black Widow because that is the original White Widow and I wanted regular seeds. I don't think GHS does regular seeds anymore.
@Graytail has some slick methods for containing the wild ones, I would suggest following him too. He will flower the wild ones in a small pot like a 3 gallon and after the stretch is done he'll transplant into a larger container until it finishes. This limits the plant size then gives it plenty of soil to go the distance in without out growing the space.
Welcome to high brix growing and I'll help anyway I can.

I harvested the Bubba Hash and Durban Poison yesterday. This is the biggest Bubba I've done yet. The yield will be excellent this run. The Durban Poison surprised me with her smells this run. I usually get the Terpenoline smell from her but this time she smells like sweet bubblegum. I'm not sure what I did to cause this. This will be the last run for this cut of Durban. It's good and people really like it but it's not what I'm looking for, I think I'll try CBG or Seeds of Africa for the next run of it.

Durban Poison Day 63

Bubba Hash Day 63

Sensi Star 1 Day 14

A5 haze x Panama Day 14

Thai Chi Day 14

Thanks for looking. I'll be staggering the flipping of Tangie OG x Malawi (Stoney Memoirs), Bubba Kush x Erdpurt (ACE) and Critical Sensi Star 2.

Awesome, Brother! :bravo:
You got me excited for this BBH run I got going with those buds! :yahoo:

You are going to love growing the Bubba, it's such an easy plant to grow. I swear this cut gets better each time I run it.

Your Bubba Hash is sic! I swear it looks like the grandma to the Girl Scout Cookie.... What is the smell of terpenolene if that even makes sense?? Lol. If you could compare it to another smell, to help us out in the boonies. :passitleft:

Terpenoline is a smell I associate with sativas. It's a fresh spring type smell after a rain storm is the best I can describe it. It is also associated with terpintine. You won't typically see Terpenoline show up in indica strains. When it is present it is almost always the dominate terpene. If it isn't the most dominate terp then it is usually the 2nd most dominate.

Gray is on my long reading list actually. I’ve seen some pics that he’s posted and I can see he’s very good with the kit. I also know he’s the one to pick his brain about diy lights (next on my project list of a million things lol). As long as I’ve grown I am such a newbie when it comes to the genetics side of all this. I’ve kinda always had the impression that fem seeds were more stable than regs and therefore that’s what I’ve always used. Can I ask why you prefer regs to fem?? Back when I started growing we didn’t have the internet to search out all this stuff so having a resource like this mag is amazing. I started just trying to grow anything that won Cannabis cups from the 90s. About 5-7 strains and just cycling through those since I’ve always been satisfied with what came from it. Now that I’ve seen what everyone is able to do with these Sativas I’m ready to broaden my horizon and go back to school so to speak lol. I appreciate your response and willingness to share your knowledge. Thank you!!

I will do both feminized and regular seeds. Female plants from regular seeds don't tend to throw late naners for me. Just about all the feminized seeds I've run tend to throw naners at the end of flowering. They aren't always fertile but running a perpetual garden it can be a PITA when they are. With the old school genetics I prefer the regs so I get the whole genetic pool. With the newer hybrids I prefer feminized since I have a better chance of getting something close to the keeper phenotype they used to breed with.

Ahhh I know what you’re talking about now. I don’t ever get the he-parts because I usually harvest on the early side anyways. The way you explain the keeper phenotype is spot on with what I was meaning. Maybe that’s why I have never really seen as much difference in what I have run versus what I see others doing. When I read about everyone searching for different phenos I’ve always assumed those strains were just worked less. I’m trying to read up more on all that. There are some really knowledgeable people on this site. I’ve learned so much more already and it just keeps coming. Thank you everyone!! :passitleft:

And wow it looks beautiful! Fat sticky looking buds! :bravo: That one vegged for a very long time, is that right?
I just did a quick search at my lab and yes Terpinolene is the main terpene in JH.

Interesting- terpinolene is one of the most recommended for treating depression. Nice that it smells like a fresh forest!
