N420 Grows Barney's Farm Orange Sherbert & Special Guests

I actually start my seeds in coco, it washes off the roots easy. The problem with rockwool is it holds a lot of water and a young plant can “drown” once placed in the net cup.

I don't have any coco would pro mix work ok?

Should yes
I also have rapid rooter's are those better then rockwool?
If I do plant in the pro mix how big do you let the plant get before you rinse the roots and put it in the Dwc bucket?

Rapid rooters will work fine, once I have roots long enough to reach halfway to the bottom of a net cup I plant them in the bucket. If you a good air stone it will keep the net cup moist until roots hit the water.

Seeds have been dropped!

Thanks Mr.S! It does make me a little nervous but I think it will go good .It's something I've always wanted to try and if I can get it dailed in I think it will really pay off.

Haha yup Mrs. N kinda rolled her eyes when I wanted to try hydro. She said why would you do that when you know how to do the Pro Mix. It's an addiction dear I have to lol.
So it’s not weird. I get the eye roll all the time.
cant wait to see this up an running. I am no help hahah . You new strains look delish.. I’m still browsing on what to run after Xmas. Happy hydro cheers Magic

Ya I'm looking forward to get this going too should be fun the growth rates are supposed to be alot faster then soil that's why I waited for the Gz to be a couple of weeks into flower so I'm not bursting at the seems in the tent in a months time. I grew blue cookies from crop king awhile back and my wife loved the taste but it wasn't a very good strain to grow sooo finicky and didn't yield very well. So I figured growing a Barney's blueberry would be better we will see. Check Seedsman if your looking for seeds they are having a black Friday sale soon and they are offering promos on some good breeders. Good to see you again Magic have a good Sunday bud.

So nothing new with the seeds this morning they have sunk to the bottom of the cup but none have cracked yet.

I think I might grab a seedling heat mat today. My understanding is they go to 10-20 degrees over ambient temperature so since my garage where I'm going to set it up is around 60 degrees the mat will raise the temp to 70 or 80? The one I'm looking at doesn't come with a separate thermostat is there a way to control the temperature?

The mat and controller are separate items. Typically not packaged together, but you may find one on occasion from hydrofarm.

You definitely want the controller though, mainly to ensure your temps don't get too high.

Look for a BN-Link controller. They're less than the jumpstart controllers ($20 vice $30) and work just fine. Just make sure they controller is rated for 15A and 1875w. (The BN and jumpstart both are, but better safe than sorry.)

Get a little bigger mat than you think you need, especially if your ambient temps are cooler. For example, instead of a 1x2, get a 2x2.

I've dealt with similar conditions, and it's helped significantly. What I like to do, and works well to keep temps stable, is initially I will use an insulation box. It sounds fancy, but just a box from an amazon shipment that fits over your seedling setup and makes use of some additional packing materials too. Mainly the foam mat pieces, but that brown paper can work too. Put the box upside down over the dome, all is good.

Don't forget that you can use that controller for a space heater, or maybe a supplemental exhaust fan, too. :)

That's great multi I will look into getting a controller will probably have to buy it locally because I'm putting the seeds into rapid rooter's today. That is a great point I can use it for other things as I only have one temp controller and it's being used all ready it would be nice to have a second one.

Lmao, that’s fantastic!!
Good luck with the dwc, I’m sure you’ll do great with it! :thumb:
Hahaha I keep telling my wife this hobby benefits you too you like smoking weed don't you lol.
Thanks for nice comment Hh I think it should go well with some help from my 420 fam along the way.

Y'all ain't alone with that. Just sayin.:rofl::rofl:

After 24hrs none of the seeds were cracked it was time to put them in the rapid rooter's. I poured some of the water from the cups I soaked the seeds in over the rooter's and let them drain off a little before dropping the seeds in. They are now under the dome with the heat mat on. Now we wait...

Temp is low because the pic was taken right after I plugged in the mat will be monitoring things over the next few hrs to see were the temps get to.
