N420 Grows Barney's Farm Orange Sherbert & Special Guests

Can't make any professor jokes I feel bad for him he doesn't know what year it is or what a tire is lol.
It's 2018 and I do know what a tyre is actually!

Those leaves are pretty wierd. Could it be too much air movement? Is there a fan blowing directly at those particular leaves?

It's 2018? I thought it was 2020.

Prof I think you nailed it! I just checked the tent and I have a clip fan that hangs in the middle of the tent and it was blowing on the leaves and I noticed that it was starting to effect some other leaves on a different plant near the fan. I have moved it up now. Thanks buddy you came through again!

Prof does it again :slide:
That is honestly the last thing I would have thought would have caused that. I have heard of wind burn but it doesn't look like that. I will be really happy if that fixes the issue.

Different strains can react differently to high winds. The more hardy strains can often handle such stress relatively easily. Others hate the wind. I would say that the GZ isn't a hardy strain at all. Back when I started growing I put a tray that had 6 seedlings in front of the air inlet vent at the bottom of the tent. By the morning they were shrivelled up and black. They looked like they had melted lol.

Hey everyone George from the vault is at it again.

Been lurking on your thread. Came for the Orange Sherbert, keep coming back for the learning and commentary. :D

:welcome: MultiVortex thanks for stopping by. I'm glad your enjoying the journal. I was actually lurking on your journal last night. That's too bad you were having issues with your seeds they can be a real pain at times. I have tried starting them in peat pellets like you did and the same thing happened to me none of them worked out but since using the paper towel method I have a 99% success rate.

Thanks. :)

It was a pain, but then again... freebie seeds. So ya know, not like they (typically) give away the best of the best.

The good thing is it kicked me in gear to super overload and I upgraded all my secondary stuff, on top of the new RDWC. The bad thing is it kicked me in gear to super overload and I upgraded all my secondary stuff.:rofl::rofl:

Never had any real problems with peat pellets. Sure, an occasional seed doesn't pop, but out of 4 you would think at least one would have shown interest. Oh well, you get what you pay for it seems. And since those were free, I'm running even I guess. Didn't pay squat, didn't get squat. :laughtwo:

Won't be an issue now, I hope. I got set on doing an auto run, so I'm going to do it. Got seeds from Fast Buds en route for arrival mid-week. These will probably end up better in the long run anyway, considering the upgraded lighting and what not.

Your right with the freebies I have a 50/50 success rate with them dropped 2 only one sprouted the one that did make it was pretty good Amnesia Auto from seedsman grew one big cola and some pretty nice secondary branches ended up with an ounce not bad considering I just threw it outside in the summer and kinda ignored it. I want to try some fast buds strains looks like their are a few good ones will have to wait though as I already have plans for the 3x3 once the Gz get out of there and into flower. Give me a tag if you are going to do a journal for the fast buds would like to check it out.

Will do. I hope to drop them for germ next Friday.

Will be doing 4 for this run:

- Blackberry
- Six Shooter
- Mexican Airlines
- Tangie'mattic

With the recent issues, I'm a tick gun shy and may drop 2 of each strain. Hate to waste seeds, but it is what it is. I got them on a 2for1 sale, so ended up with 10 of each.

Sweet looking forward to your grow! Blackberry is a strain I've had my eye on for a while. Mexican airlines is supposed to be good as well. Will you be growing these in your RDWC build?

Nah, not in the RDWC. These will be in promix, get fed Mega Crop, and thrive under Budget LED's. :D

For my RDWC I'll be doing photos of GDP (GDP), Blue Dream (Humboldt), Strawberry Lemonade (Barneys), and Candyland (Emerald Triangle) for the first run.

I would like to push some autos through it at some point though, just to see.

Although honestly, I've got enough spare parts laying around now that I could probably make a secondary RDWC build without much else needed. I got a lot of 10 food grade black buckets, and only used half. I have two smaller backup pumps (2 for water, 1 for air), plenty of pipe, etc.

I think I would need a couple buckets (always need to have a spare couple on hand), some basket lids, and maybe some uniseals. I wouldn't go nuts with the isolation loops, all the valves, or anything like that.

Awwww crap. Now I have to think this one over a bit. :laughtwo: :laughtwo: :laughtwo:

Edit: Ohhhhh. Now that I think about it, I could use the totes I was going to originally have in the 4x4 design, before I decided to separate the plants into buckets. Hmmmmm... :reading420magazine::idea:

I have grown with promix for about a year really like it can't be much simpler and the plants seem to like it. I'm pretty new at using Mega Crop but like it so far only having to mix one thing has really cut down on the time it takes to do a feeding. I am chasing some deficiencies with it but has nothing to do with the product at all it's my mistake with the feed ratios.
Those are some great strains you have planned the original GDP would be awesome to run the seeds are quite expensive from what I have seen but should be worth it. Humboldt blue dream is another that I would like to try and always like anything Barney's.

I have zero experience with hydro growing but I'm looking to change that soon. With the growth rates your supposed to be able to achieve with it has me quite excited to give it a shot.

Hey 420 fam I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. We took our girls to a local farm that puts on a great pumpkin patch event. They have a mini train on their property that takes you around on a tour of the farm and have animated animals and skeletons and other things set up along the track. They have a stage set up with dance performances to Disney themes and hay rides down to the pumpkin patch to pick out your pumpkin. The girls love it and has turned into a tradition to take them there just before Halloween since my first daughter was born gets them all excited about Halloween coming as if they needed more help in that lol.

Ok on with the plants. The Os is exactly a week from day 60 so harvest is just around the corner. They are smelling quite nice and seem even more frosty then the first run of Os. I'm actually seeing a hint of purple on the buds which I'm quite happy with. I have lost my loupe in the shuffle of the garage being pulled apart for the hot water tank being replaced. I did get a clip on macro lens for my cell phone a while back and took a few shots using it with the phone camera zoomed in. I gotta say it's pretty hard to get a decent shot I have not got the steadiest hands and any slight movement makes the picture blurry. I did get a couple that are usable though.

From the pictures I got it looks like they are mostly cloudy with some clear I did catch a glimpse of a couple of ambers while lining up my shots but those were on the sugar leaves. Will check them again next weekend and see where they are.

I use promix outside, and like it well enough. Figured it would be good enough for this run. I have a compressed bale of it ready to open and go. I'm still thinking through whether to keep that or jump to hydro. I need to inventory my stock and see if it would be reasonable or not. That promix will last long enough if needed, and won't go to waste. I could also do a half and half. I would need to measure the height of my fabric pots on their riser and saucer and compare it to the top of a bucket though. If it's close enough I could run two pots and a small hydro on the other two. For nothing other than shits and grins. No real advantage to splitting it than tinkering. Put the two longest autos in hydro and the other two in promix.

With mega crop, I agree it's the simplicity of it all. I was set up to use the GH flora trio for my RDWC run, but that's on hold. I'll save it for a small batch or something, maybe pay it forward to someone. I dunno.

I was also setup with the AN sensi coco line for the promix grow, but the mega crop has nixed that as well. Maybe not though, I haven't fully decided on it yet. I'd hate to have wasted the purchase, but it is what it is.

Back to the mega crop, I also like the cost ratio. It really is going to be of benefit for the RDWC and mixing up 30 gallons every week or so. Mega Crop will cut my nute bill significantly, and the results speak for themselves. Giving it a shot was a no brainer really. It may even let me use my 27gal res over the 17gal (total capacity, not total usable) as the savings are that significant.

Looking nice and frosty! Can't wait to see the first smoke report. :D

Gz Update

Did a quick little clean up on these tonight removed some of the deficient leaves near the bottom most of the leaves I removed were almost falling off anyway and weren't doing much for the plant. I am seeing a turn around recently now that I have the feeding ratio figured out I'm feeding at 12g/8 liters the new growth looks healthy and not showing any deficiency. Moving the fan up so it's not directly blowing on the plants has really helped. The newest growth on the most effected plant has returned to normal. Adding the fan to the bottom of the tent has definitely helped with things as well they are drying out faster now so I'm happy to say we are heading in the right direction and by the time they get moved into the flower tent they will be were I want them to be.

Took them out to take some individual pics of each plant.

Love it. They will be perfect for flower.. Glad you got the nutes figured out and she making a recovery. They will be perfect for flower. Magic

Thanks buddy flower show for these ladies is starting soon. Will be nice to get them out of their cramped quarters and spread them out a little. Will probably do a little more tying down and flip them. Gonna start spraying them more consistantly for the next week or 2 so I can knock those thrips back so they are rockin going into flower.
