N420 Bubbles Black Sugar Canadian Comparative Grow

Back with a quick update. The girls greened up nicely after the res change and I'm happy with the current food mix in the buckets. This morning I checked on them and they were looking a bit droopy especially Bs1

I pulled the net pots to have a look and the roots were brown

My ph had also risen to 6.3 so I added a few drops of ph down to get it back to 5.7 and threw some Z9 into the bucket to get those roots nice and white again. We will see how they do over the next little while.
Yup, a little poopy :( Nice catch. Man things move fast with hydro, and you cant take a day off can you?

Ya that's the good and bad thing about hydro. You can get very fast growth but things can also go south fast too. As far as work it's not so bad a bit more maintenance then Pro mix but you only mix nutes once a week. The rest of the time is topping up with plain water when needed and ph adjustments.

I know you aren't feeding anything that could stain the roots. Are you using the Z9 every res. change? What is the res. water temp? First two things I could think of. :ganjamon:
Thanks Joe. I always add the Z9 when I change the res but I'm thinking maybe I forgot on this last one. The water temp is around 67 when I last checked this morning which should be ok.

Wouldn't think missing one dose would make a difference. But if the conditions are right then maybe. The temps. are perfect so must be something else, how about light leaking into the res.? :ganjamon:

My temps in the tent have been up and down a bit I have a small heater in there and it's been up to 74 degrees. It could be when it got warm the res temp got up a bit to high. Bs2 is looking better roots looking a little more white now. Bs 1 is a little worse for wear the Z9 hasn't helped to much thinking I might give Bs1 a shot of peroxide to get things cleaned out.

The light in the res is a good suggestion I will have a closer look when I get home from work today.

Got off work a bit early today so went down to check on the situation with the Bs particularly Bs1. Had a good look and as far as I can tell there isn't light getting into the res. Checked the ec on both and it's in the right range at 1.1 ph is 5.7 and water temps are 65 degrees. The roots on Bs 2 are looking better and she doesn't seem to droopy.

Bs1 was still looking kinda sad and her roots were an even darker brown then yesterday. So I decided to give her a shot of 29% H202 @ 3ml per gallon. Took a picture of her roots right after I put it in and they already looked better.

We will see how this plays out. I ran into this with the ladies in my other journal when they were about the same age and the H202 got them back on the right track. Gonna treat Bs 1 the same let the H202 do it's thing for a day then go back to the Z9.

Hey 420 fam. Well the Bs1 spent the night in the H202 and her roots are looking better.

So today I changed her res. Went back in at the same strength of food and added Z9. Hopefully the H202 bath has given her a head start on recovery.

Here she is right after the res change still droopy.

Bs2 seems to be doing ok I did notice she looked a little light green so I gave her a 5ml shot of Cal mag it raised her ec to 1.2. Roots look good so I'm happy with that. I'll give her a couple of days to green up a bit then I'm going to top her.

Thanks Magic! Ya the roots do look better she is still a little unhappy at the moment but I think she is gonna pull through in the next few days.
Wow, a visible improvement on those roots ,and only overnight. My hydro guy was trying to sell me a gallon last trip in but it wasn't on my radar at the time.. It is now.:goodjob:
Ya the H202 took away most of the nasty stuff it works good to give it a jumpstart. The downside is it kills off any beneficial bacteria you have in the res that's why I changed the res after one night to get back on the Z9.

Hey 420. Looked in the tent this morning and I got a good surprise Bs1 is coming back! She had her leaves picked up and was looking better!

Bs 2 is doing well she was still a little light green after I added a bit of extra grow nutes so I gave her a 5ml shot of Cal Mag.

Will be topping Bs2 this weekend.

Nice fix N4! With each fix you become better and better at using the sytem to your benefit. Preventing problems is so much better when you know what to do.
Thanks Mr.S. I'm getting more comfortable and now know what to do if a problem arises. Growing this way has also taught me alot about nutrient deficiencies and how to spot them. The great thing about Dwc is when you see deficiency you just adjust your level in the res of what ever deficiency you see and in a day you can see the result and can tell if they need more or not.

Nice turn around , looking much better then Tuesday. Good to see nice healthy white roots. Watch that the old brown ones don't become a problem down the road.. Even they are looking much better. :peace:
Thank you Joe! That's great advice I'll keep my eye on the brown roots and make sure they don't cause me any issues. I'm so pleased she is coming back another day or 2 and she should be back to normal.

Bs1 is continuing on the road to redemption lookin a bit more happy today.

I was waiting for Bs2 to green up a bit more and to have enough growth above the 5th node before topping. This morning she was ready.

Bs 1 is making a nice comeback her main stem is purple that's a clear sign she needs more Cal Mag gonna give her an extra shot today so she can keep getting stronger. The Magic Cut went smoothly Bs 2 hasn't skipped a beat this morning. Having a good weekend so far stopped by the grow shop to grab something for the flower tent yesterday and did some housework nothing to exciting. Gotta head off to work in a couple of hours
