My Room - Perpetual LED Soil

send a bus to Hogtown and he will come and take pics for you:)

That would work... I was thinking of flying my plants there on a weekly basis.

Incredible

Thank you Sir

Buck really you shouldnt be allowed to post too much drool!

Well it is better than potchimp's thread... you get coffee shooting out your nose :cheesygrinsmiley:

Can I hire you to come take my bud pics?

Yes! :cheesygrinsmiley:

It was cold last night fish cake and that scary lady came by again, if you don't mind I would like to wait for the bus north

We don't want them all stressed out for the photo shoot, I better take the bus :cheesygrinsmiley:

I was asked in another thread what cam I used, I replied

"... lots of cams from all sorts of manufacturers will do this, many of them FAR better.

With that in mind, I use an older entry level DSLR, a Nikon D5000. For these images I used a 70-300mm lens (slow 4.5-5.6) with a full set of extension tubes 12,20 and 36mm stacked. I have a SB-600 speedlight for flash. I use the lowest ISO I can get away with, less than 200, f22 and shutter at 200 (as fast as my poor little cam can go with flash) I shoot these hand held. I turn off the auto focus and use zoom to focus and move to fine focus. "

I will also add I use an inexpensive photo editor Photo Shop Elements 9, I adjust levels, re-size and USM as a rule but sometimes crop, clone or whatever I think it needs

I hope this helps

That's interesting Buckshot. I've some experience with that lens, but not with extensions. Those must be what's affecting the depth of field and bokeh. I can't tell how many blades are in the lenses diaphragm. I'm looking at the bright spots (trichomes?) in the background, and they look perfectly circle. That would be a very 'smooth' bokeh for that body and lens. The depth of field is surprising for F22. Again, it must be those extension tubes. Your photos have a very shallow depth of field for that aperture setting!

You shouldn't feel the need to apologize for that camera. The 'good' camera I lost was just a D80, and I considered it a fine camera. That lens you have is not bad either.

cams cams cams... :cheesygrinsmiley: ... I could talk hiking too :cheesygrinsmiley: We will both be banned :ban: :cheesygrinsmiley: I have to come back to this post but not till tonight

I understand why talking about video games is bad, but cameras? Do kids go looking for forums talking about photography? Every interest forum I've every participated in has had, at least, a photography thread.

Are we really not allowed to talk about cameras and/or photography, or even more important, hiking?

Sorry I no time this morning. Yes it is the tubes that limit the depth of field and smooths the bokeh but the 70-300 VR is pretty smooth all on its own. The tubes have no lens they increase magnification and require a lot of light. While not ideal for image quality the razor thin depth of field with three tubes requires f22, I use f22 without the tubes as well to get the entire flower in focus, in fact I was thinking of taking fuller bud shots tonight without tubes... looking for bud rot. I took up hiking as a kid and at 14 I went self sustained (but with a group) 120 miles on the long trail :cheesygrinsmiley: it was a life experience.

Great info on the pics Buck, keep it coming:) +reps

Thank you Jon ... another post to follow :cheesygrinsmiley:

These are two things that have forums all of their own! :cheesygrinsmiley: I am only kind of jesting. It is fine to talk about both but when it turns to a photography or hiking thread well I understand that is when we will be reminded that this is a cannabis forum :cheesygrinsmiley: and I have no problem with that!!! ... and we can talk about anything we want in the off topic forum :thumb:

I am helping folks take pics of their buds so I am sure this will be OK

I think anything is fare game if you relate it to growing/smoking the grand herb.

:high-five:

A few full bud shots. I took off the extension tubes and kept the settings above. For better image quality use F11 or so but the lower you go the shallower your depth of field... a shallow depth of field can be used to your advantage to create more "artsy" images with the bud in focus and the background nicely blurred.... play around, you have nothing to loose and everything to gain.

These girls are on bud rot watch

This is the super snowdawg x si

Everyone should walk 100 miles in the wilderness. I think it takes just about that long to start to comprehend a world outside our society. :)
