My LED Grow

those twisted leaves are weird, but I don't think it's because of something you're doing or not doing. a lot of my nirvana seeds grew that way. I think it's genetic. they grow out of it. your new leaves don't have the issue at all so they've already grown out of it.

turning off some leds and/or raising the light is a good suggestion. humidity domes are only for seeds and clones! humidity domes should be removed as soon as the plant is above ground and/or growing.

Here in the mountain west we often get very dry days in the winter. 10% humidity is common. I see young plants under domes all the time. Here's an example someone else posted from a moderately humid place in the SE.

In any case, my advise is just that. I see lots of people stress out and "over care" their clones and seedlings.
I start all my plants under florescent lights and have near 100% success pretty much how ever I try.

Cannabis is a pretty forgiving plant. I guess it's like new parents who panic when they can't hear their baby breathe through the monitor. By the 3rd child, they just give them the basics and let them grow.

that is a reflector fixture which utilizes an open lens system and mirror like reflectors around each led. I had their 100x3w unit with covered leds and my plants couldn't handle being started 16-18" away. the plant(s) will stop growing and the leaf tips will die off which one may mistake for nutrient burn. as the stress progresses the top of the plant(s) will lose its pigments and turn white. I have a lux meter and I measured 10,000 lux 24" away from the 100x3w model. sprouts and/or plants not accustomed to led light should be started at 10,000 lux or less. plants have no issue growing towards the light.. that's what they do best.

Looks like I will be picking up a lux meter to monitor that as well lol...these were just now.

VP I think 9" is too close. leds are more directional than other types of lighting.

CN I didn't take that into account. my bad.

wow they're growing fast. good stuff.

Does anyone know what measurement this is using to measure light?

I'd guess it's supposed to be PAR (useful photon concentration). My cheapo light meter units go 0-10. My MH reflectors read 6 at the plants to 7 right against the LED's. Sun at noon here reads about 8.
I've never positioned my LED's based on the meter. Once you are 4 inches away it's 6 on my meter to the bottom of the tent unless leaves shade the sensor. In other words, the light gets pretty diffuse under these reflectors.

You can hang your light at an angle or you can raise plants. See which height setting your plants like best. After another week or two you won't be able to tell as easily.

It shows 600-700 @ the plant(18 inches away). It is pinned @ 2000 @ the light. The sun pins it to 2000 as well. Is that good for par?

The meter is too sensitive for growing cannabis. Lots of stuff is geared towards aquariums. I don't think they ever want full sun intensity. It's still useful.

Cannabis grows well in full sun. I don't know why people report so many issues with the light distance. My youngest plants are now as close as 9 inches and they seem happy. Dennise runs hers at the top of her tent and does just fine too. I'd say there's more than one correct answer on where to position the lights :)

Thank you, im tring not to stress about it lol

Good advice that everyone should be aware of. :goodjob:

So I noticed last night that the timer wasn't working properly for the lights and has been running 24/7. I didn't know because I was told you don't want any light hitting them when they are suppose to be in the dark. Well while medicating last night, i was running behind and the light never shut off. Swapped it out real quick and fixed the problem. After last night I saw significant increase in size. I'm happy I stayed in there or I never would have known. The leds distance from the plant has not really shown a "noticeable" difference. Thanks CoMers for that info, it was definitely helpful to me. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I have had a horrible experience trying to grow from seed under a 48x3 reflector. It got to the point where my plant was turning toward the cfl side of my grown closet. In my limited experience I suggest starting young plants under cfl and then switching over to leds. Just my two cents.

It is doing AMAZING for me, im sorry you got a rotten apple man. If you don't mind me asking, what was your whole set up?(nutes, schedule, grow media, temp, humidity, ph, etc)

I started from seed. Germed seeds in starter cubes. Planted starter cubes in solo cups with ffof. Then the switch to hydro. My humidity was a little low at first so I added a humidifier. I used the same set up during my first grow using cfl's and saw explosive growth during the first few weeks. But with MH reflector, I saw little to know growth. However, I'm not blaming the reflector. I just think young plants can't handle that spectrum of light very well.

That being said I have used the MH reflector during the later stage of veg and flower and it performed adequately. I was actually going to order another until i found a vipar.

When I first started mine I had it 85 degrees in the tent. And using a low amount of superthrive in the water to germinate helps a lot. Superthrive is just vitamins for your plant, there is no nute burn from it. That being said, it shouldn't be used past week 6-7. It leaves a heavy salt flavor. I may be wrong about superthrive, but that is what was explained to me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it hasn't done me wrong yet lol.
