My LED Grow

That looks awesome! I just cant wait for them to get bigger. I see you have the same lights. Im thinking about putting in a t8 later on for the budding. Or was the added light from the bloom button good for budding? Im worried about the led being "ok" for budding, but not quite there. So i am thinking about getting 2 single bulb t8 ballasts and ordering w agrogrow 3000k t8 bulbs to help the led finish the bud. Thoughts?

Here's how I started. I was given 2 teen plants in trash buckets. I had about 4 weeks advanced notice, so I had to move quickly, picking and purchasing lights and a tent. This is 3 days after getting the plants.

After 1 week, I decided I really liked the MH lights and ordered a 3rd 48x3. Here's a week later.

Another week. I ran the lights for 3 weeks with the bloom switch off.

After three weeks, the plants were too big for the tent! I ended up doing lots of defoliating and built a scrog. I ended up with buds spread over 3 feet of vertical space.

I just like this picture. It came out of the camera like this. I got many, many small frosty buds. It took a long time to trim with surgical scissors.

Since I took clones right before I turned to 12/12, I wouldn't have room for them for about 8 weeks.
It takes me about 2 weeks to root and transplant into small pots, leaving 6 weeks of time for veg.
If I do this under the LED's the plants would be huge. I also wanted more variety, so keeping the plants shorter was the obvious solution. I got 2 new strains and put all the clones and teens under 4xT8 florescents.
I prune and train everything while it's under the T8's doing a Gaslight cycle 13on 5off 1 on 5 off.

If I need faster growth during veg, I add hours to the light cycle, otherwise, I let the plants take the 8 weeks to get about 12 inches tall, with 4-8 main tops, all at the same height. (At least that's the goal).
It looks like this. Top to bottom of the buds cover about 12-18 inches of space. This works out much better.

I've run my MH reflectors as close as 4" and as far as 48". It all worked for me. In the end, I've put them about 12-18" above the tops which leaves room for me to dry buds in the tent above the lights. (It was too stinky to dry outside the carbon filter.)

looking good, but your light is too close to your plants and they'll eventually stop growing then lose their pigments. you should hang your light 24" above your plants and let them grow towards it.

nice. I had my leds too close to my plants and lost two good girls. your plants will grow towards the leds, but don't let them get closer than about 12". happy growing.

Subbed. High potency LEDs are great huh?
I am curious to see what your red and blue leds can do in 2 months.
And if it doesn't cause anybody undue butthurt, please check out my LED grow. 400 watts fanless single lamp 5000k. I hope one day LEDs can replace traditional light sources for growing THC

I think that day of leds replacing traditional lights is fast approaching, if it isnt already here. There are more than just red/blue. I will definitely go check your grow out, no butthurtness here...

Make sure to keep the humidity up or cover with a "dome". They look a bit stressed. I'd turn off the bloom LED's until the plants were a bit bigger.

Don't worry about the plants growing a bit slowly. It takes a couple of weeks before small plants really take off.
If conditions are not ideal, they grow slower. Cannabis grows across a wide variety of conditions. As long as to don't do something extreme, they will survive.:thumb:

Bloom aren't on...the pics of the lights are just to demonstrate what it does. How can you tell they look stressed, this is my first solo grow lol i would like to know what to look for lol

Maybe they are hungry for CO2, but I think they look fine. I Just checked out the panels you're using, nice. I think those are 3w diodes, or maybe 5 but I couldn't check the specs. They don't use optics so I doubt any whiteout would occur from 18 inches distance and even could go as low as 14 inches. The thing with LEDs without lenses is they don't pack quite the canopy penetrating punch, so Low stress training is your friend and keep the LED panel as close as possible, keeping heat in mind of course.

Once you grow for a while, you can spot problems much earlier.

I see the oldest leaves are mis-shaped and their hue is darker than most young plants which are growing rapidly.

Many strains don't grow nice perfect leaves and grow a bit weird, so you just have to watch and learn.

What is the temp and humidity in the tent when the lights have been on for an hour?

No need to stress yourself. They are looking OK.

71 degrees @ the plants...i havent been monitoring the humidity, but is rh. And its western wa. I was told with the inline and an led setup that rh is perfectly fine as long as i monitor the temp @ the plant. Should i be monitoring that as well? The myco2 box is taking a while lol. But i got some tips on what i did wrong with the box from a local grower. Turns out it works faster if you break up the compost inside the bag, not just the spores. I fixed that, now the co2 shouldincres steady the next 3 days then stay steady til i add the second box. Thank you guys for all the help!

Ya, In W WA you probably don't need to keep the humidity up :)

71 F is just fine. If you are impatient, let the room get to 80-85F, keep the soil below 80.

You don't need any extra CO2. Right now, the plants are using hardly anything. When they are big and ready, you'll also need extra light and heat to get the benefit from the extra CO2. Hang on to those boxes. You can put them to use later.

Now's the time to let the girls ride. and :bong:

that is a reflector fixture which utilizes an open lens system and mirror like reflectors around each led. I had their 100x3w unit with covered leds and my plants couldn't handle being started 16-18" away. the plant(s) will stop growing and the leaf tips will die off which one may mistake for nutrient burn. as the stress progresses the top of the plant(s) will lose its pigments and turn white. I have a lux meter and I measured 10,000 lux 24" away from the 100x3w model. sprouts and/or plants not accustomed to led light should be started at 10,000 lux or less. plants have no issue growing towards the light.. that's what they do best.

those twisted leaves are weird, but I don't think it's because of something you're doing or not doing. a lot of my nirvana seeds grew that way. I think it's genetic. they grow out of it. your new leaves don't have the issue at all so they've already grown out of it.

turning off some leds and/or raising the light is a good suggestion. humidity domes are only for seeds and clones! humidity domes should be removed as soon as the plant is above ground and/or growing.

I concur with this. I forgot that the little plant is not ready for full intensity light yet. And it appears to be an indica plant so stretching wouldn't be an issue anyway. Cheers

BTW : I have a 400 watt COB LED that is 9 inches above the canopy of a 3 month old pure sativa clone, I'm not going to F my S up am I? What signs of things going wrong should I look for? It's been running 2 days no problems on the leaf so far. I just don't want that damn sativa stretch!

Once they're good and started (2-4+ weeks old) they can handle the light getting closer.
Clones and seedlings need the extra distance 24+ inches.
