My Introduction To DWC Hydroponics

It's my first and I'm not sold yet. It's a very different grow experience. Anyway, I put the soil in and so far I haven't even taken off her rain hat to look at it. She's growing stronger than any previous plants so far. I mean fat rigid branches and giant leaves! Put her to flower yesterday. Pouring ro water in the tube each day is all. I had some cal and mag issues that some epsom and a little cal/mag took care of right down the pipe. Come have a see.
Not sold on it yet? What's holding you back? I sub your thread and it's a great looking plant. I know you had a deficiency issue, but that's not on the SIP. And like you say you're getting stronger growth than you have previously which should translate into a pretty good harvest.

There really is something to the extra air at the roots like you get in hydro and coco but in a much more flexible format with the SIP.

I've still yet to hear of anyone who regretted the decision to try a SIP. It's not for everyone to be sure, but even pro's have been impressed with the results they get.

If I can purchase these "earth Boxes" will you send me a link over the cell phone brother? I am no longer the do it yourself gardener. My energy is another thing of the past.
edit
I found the website. So you bought four of everything?

They saw my setup in their pot on the Cherries DubeLee grow and decided to give them to me for the exposure here. But yes all 4 will have auto watering hooked up to my ro. I haven't had a chance to look in the box yet. Been feeling off this week.
I like the Veg and Root one I think. Build a soil seems to go for the rectangular one. The Veg one has 12.5 gallons of soil. I checked for Brix today and got a 12 from that plant. I'm starting to like it.

I hope you get to feeling better. My 4 earthboxes and water controller will be here Friday. I went with the rectangular box having had such success in my rectangular Kitty Litter boxes. I doubt the shape plays into the scheme but ...
Thanks

Sweet! The Build a Soil site has tutorials on u tube using them I think. Their site too maybe.

Now for me I have to strategically place and pipe them so inside the 4 x 4 I can spin them for maintenance from my access ports. You're in much better shape in the open!

Strap yourself in and don't look away! When things start to heat up it gets hot so don't hesitate when it's lst time! They fight back! This one now is testing my pipe cleaners!

Awesome work Maritimer , I wished everyone would try dwc just once . Just have to find the window in veg as to how large you want them to be . Just have to say it again awesome and great work.

Thanks Hippie, but all credits go to our community. You folks make me look good.

The way those girls look I bet your using 2 gallons a day per bucket .
Oh yeah, a little over two gallons a day. I can no longer remove the plants for 100% res changes. I get about 95% by turning the site tube sideways allowing the fluid to drain on the floor. By the numbers they could use res changes every other day. Tough shit, they go 3 days. The staples in my back holding my nerve stimulator inside me all ripped out two days ago. Yesterday the surgeon had to restaple my back back together again. No anesthesia or pain killers available so I signed a waiver. Do not ever do that. Silly Jarhead. 👩‍🌾 Pain that could knock folks unconscious I am telling you. Now I have 26 fresh new staples and I have a triple bucket change in works downstairs. I am warming the new solution to about 73 before I give it to the girls. I am being extra carefull and thinking hard about how nice my new SIP trays could be.
This DWC has proved itself beyond my expectations. I wish my body understood I am not supposed to get old and begin breaking down. hah

Looking terrific! Are you just going with MeJA since droughting in hydro is really tricky? Caplan suggested possibly using NaCl in the hydro to restrict water uptake but I'm yet to see anyone give it a go.
I am hitting them with MeJA Sunday morning. I think Deron is missing the connection to ABA and will change his direction in time. The kid is a genius statistician, and that serves his studies well. Some day soon I will sit him down and have a long talk about the primacy of abscisic acid and its role of conductor in the orchestral presentation of homeostasis. When I get him onboard with the order of events leading to the species survival response, we all are chasing he will have a better window of understanding.

When you quit laughing you may notice I am not.

God damn that sounds like a less than good time. :( On the plus side you're telling us about it so that's good!

OMG your one tough dude Maritimer . Just let the girls take the water and nutrients completely all up . It will do it , no bucket change . At this point just add the water and nutrients in each top off . The girl is just going to uptake overnight. I’ve had the girls in two days empty the bucket completely and this is what you’ve ran into, but don’t worry they’ll be fine , I went 4 days and never saw not one leaf droop.
When you find that fountain of youth please call me immediately.

Laughing no you’ve earned a lot of respect here with your work. Just keep them coming but at the moment please try and stay relaxed.

What about a 2D cell battery transfer pump? I use one to water every time. I bet one could empty your rez. if you can stick it in.
