My First Hydro Setup

The tap root is out of the pellet so I'm planning on soaking a rockwool cube and transplanting on Monday.

I'm putting my small germination tent up tomorrow, installing my new T5 Bulbs and wondering if I should cover my oxy pot in silver reflective bubble wrap to prevent the water heating up.

I've put my seedling tent up and put my new T5 Bulbs in, what a difference compared to the last bulbs so I think I will change them once a year to help with efficiency.

I have sprinkled some Mother Pukka Reggae Roots powder in the rockwool cube hole then placed the peat plug in there and covered with some tin foil but is that okay or should I put something else over? It's just in thinking of the roots from getting light, I do plan on putting some clay pebbles in the base as soon as there's some roots in the base of the rockwool cube.

Couple of questions I'm quite stuck with though is when should I start adding nutrients or can I add a root stimulant like House and Garden Roots Excelurator now to help with early stage root growth?

The bubbler comes with an 80l/h pump but I also have a 180l/h pump too would adding both be beneficial or cause problems?

@irie lion @DonChiefums20 What do you think of my new setup? :yahoo:

Nute burn? Did you add anything to that seedling pod? Because they come loaded with everything needed for seedlings to grow already.

Well my first seedling is dead, what a nightmare this is, had to pop two more, ones started opening up the other hasn't, will have to buy a second oxy pot I can get at least a harvest before christmas, so probably if I can get them both sorted in time I will probably now try a main line and go for 8 or 10 stems each.

Just a little update on very much certain the first seedling died was due to it being overwatered by the peat plug being very wet and like mud, these two new seedlings are coming along good being in a drier plug, I have now put these two under my T5 light, if decided I'm going to spray these seedlings with a sprayer/mister to prevent any mishaps or problems, I think I'm going to do the same with the rockwool cubes too.

Still looking for an ideal ppm guide line to grow by and I'm now looking at probably either mainlining or lst of sorts now I'm not able to scrog but I still think I can fill the space up in order to get at least 10oz.

I'm going for the 2 250w hps lights so I'm getting ample amount of light as well as 1 light per plant 62.5w to each sqft, I would like some upgraded fans for the canopy that are quiet or at least not loud.

I'm also looking for opinions on changing the red tank on a weekly basis? What I was thinking was keep a small Wilma pump in the res tank then every Sunday I would turn it on and clear the remaining nutrients out and and run fresh water through them add some fresh nutrient solution would this be an ideal scenario?

I'm using a 180Lph pump with 2 air stones and 2 separate 80Lph air pumps giving each a good 170Lph but I am thinking of getting a bigger one of this would help?

Finally if anyone could recommend a res cleaner product to use while growing that would be fantastic :).

Rooting for those 2, comes on grow healthy!

:morenutes:

I hope there healthy too, I'm thinking of adding some clay pebbles around these tomorrow with maybe an air stone in to help with root growth of this would help?

I've also been looking into water chillers or protectors and I thought about using the silver backed bubble wrap to create 2 covers I can slip off when I inspect the pots.

So I will be making my own little book and print out as a step by step guide for me in the future, I'm planning on doing some little experiments to work out how many mls = every 100ppm per 1L.

So one is looking towards the light since breaking soil, the other one should follow soon so I plan to feed only ph'd 6.00 until next Sunday then start feeding with nutrients from the following Monday.

My water ppm is 80-90 so I plan to start feeding 150ppm of nutrients on week 1 then slowly move up towards 250 once I've transplanted into the rockwool cubes, then adjust from there.

I have been using a product called Microb-lift. Is for koi ponds and fountains containing plantings, and is food grade. About a cap per 20 liters. Found it , of all places, at Princess Auto. Kept the res squeeky clean all through the last grow. Good luck with the seedlings. I think the trickiest part of growing pot is starting it off and curing it properly.

That's good to know I will try and order some this week, my main priority for growing from now is cleanliness that's why it swapped to aqua than mediums as I was getting would bits all over the floor where as this way I can now make sure inside and out is perfect as I will be using milten steriliser inside the tent on a weekly basis.

Yeah the past few grows of had problems starting seeds of for some reason so for that reason I'm going to take 2 cuttings and clone them at week 2 of flower and have them ready to flip when I harvest the current two.

So I'm thinking of using either 2 celebration sweet tubs or use my cloner tank and dome and fill them half way with clay pebbles with an air stone in the centre with a weak start of nutrients for when I transplant into rockwool cubes so it can help encourage growth to reach down for the water.

I'm also looking at getting a new cfl blue veg bulb to add up in the new 2x4.

So I'm classing today as the first day of life for these seedlings they both have there first set of true leaves and now there first started node leaves.

I will try taking pictures on a daily basis so I know in the future on growth speeds to sizes as I think I'm going to run NLxBB quite often if the yields are quite generous as well as forgiving.

So I'm spraying the clay pebbles with ph'd 6 water 3 times a day as I've not got the propagation lid on so I think if the roots search for the moisture rather than me trying to water the pellets it will help to prevent any problems but they won't be in here that long I don't think, at least with me letting the base of the tray and pebbles slightly dry out before another spray theres not stagnated water day instead but this is only my own theory, there maybe already roots out the bottom but I won't bother disturbing them for another day or two, I'm hoping the growth is quite fast so I don't end up still growing through Christmas but I suppose time will tell, I'm still undecided on topping or training or simply LST the main stem and tie everything down flat to a screen maybe?

Hey man not a lot of time here but this is what I use on my in my res’s. I run a flood and drain table for veg and a 8 site RDWC system for flower. I use this start to finish wile the plants grow.
If buy new air pumps I strongly recommed something of this style if funds r available.
They r for aerating ponds and septic tanks. All the circulation you could want from air with all th D/O one could ever want in a system. Mine is a small one and is good for 20 air Stones off one pump and it is dead silent. No joke super quiet. Any ? Don’t hesitate to ask it’s all good. Play safe.

I'm for sure going to invest in one of those big pumps eventually but I know up to now each of these will have 160lph or 2.6lpm which I'm sure I read somewhere that a minimum of 5 was ideal, so am I right in thinking the bigger that air pump the faster the growth can be?
