My 1st Attempt At AutoFlowers!

Hey Dr.Pepper,

I'm also venturing into my first attempt at Auto Flowering plants so thought I best sub up to your journal and see how things are progressing. Hopefully learning a lot from it too.

:peace:

Hi Mono and welcome upon the journey. Glad to have you aboard!

Do you know what strands you'll be going for yet?

Everyone here has helped me alot so I hope we can do just as much for you :)

Thanks and green wishes to you.

This journal is SUB magnet bro :) Was fancying autos myself until I was told yield is relatively low? I reckon you'll disprove that theory mate:) :bravo: :peace:

Haha :) ...

My mate does Auto's all the time. He gets anything up to around 2-3 oz per plant. But he has much better conditions than me and were different strains.

2 oz per plant would be perfect for me considering I get that from normal plants (indoor/feminised).

I'll compare the difference seeing as I have both normal and auto strains on the go! Bare in mind the Berry Delight is a Blueberry hybrid so they'll flower pretty fast.

Also about the Berry Delight that fell behind, she seems to be slacking alot now. She's only about 3cm tall and still showing only her 1st node (single blade leaf). The others are atleast 5 times the size and all showing 2nd/3rd nodes.

Maybe this is because I rushed her into an 18/6 period too fast after 24/0? She's had the same conditions from the start as all the other ladies except she was about 24 hours slower to germinate than the rest.

Can anyone help ?

Many thanks,

Dr. Pepper

Hi mate. That doesn't good. Is she getting direct or peripheral light? Try "swapping" places with one thats thriving mate :)

In my humble opinion, the light schedule is not the reason. i have auto's going at 12/12 and the growth is excellent. Ive ran 18-6,17-7, and now 12/12 and they are gonna grow regardless.
I have found in my grows, that once the taproot hits any resistance in Autos, they slow way down in growth. Thts why some people say to start them in the same pot you are gonna finish in. Also, they dont like having constant wet roots.
Just because you water multiple girls the same amount, doesnt mean they are drinking at the same rate.
My words of advice are-- First, make sure her soil drys nicely. Second make sure her taproot isnt poking out one of the drain holes. Thirdly, give a slight dose of N to get her going again.
Hopefully that gets her back to growing sir.

I agree with Spimp, I grew autos the first grow, and they don't like ANY stress. I started, and finished my last auto on 18/6, and it did great, and my friend grows autos, has tested just about every light cycle on them. He has had the best results treating them just like photo period plants, just flip to 12/12 at first sign of flower.

Thanks for all of the help guys!

She's in direct light in a space of her own now. I watered yesterday so I shall wait untill she's nice and dry before I re-water and feed.

The root hasn't reached the bottom yet but I'm thinking it will very soon. I'm going to transfer them to their new pots ASAP.

Oh btw everyone. I decided to buy some 10 litre pots and shall be using them for the Auto's. I personally thought using my usual 15 litre ones might be a bit big for them and I dont want them to grow too tall.

Question ... When shall I begin to feed the Auto's? ... Description's of the AK 47 and Critical say's they have minimal growing periods (2-3 weeks) then enter into a vigorous flowering period.

So I'm guessing I'll need to start feeding atleast those 2 pretty soon? Like within the next 7 days ?

Thanks again for all the support guys !

I have all but one of mine in 10 litre pots too. One is in a smaller 3 litre to see if bigger root really is bigger fruit on Auto's.

From what I have read anything much more than 10 litres is a waste with auto-flowering plants, although I may be wrong :)

Thanks Mono!

Yeh I did a little reading on them too before I bought the pots just to make sure ... Pretty much every forum said 10 litre for a nice average grow.

When do you start feeding yours mate and what with ?

I gave mine their first drink other than plain water just yesterday.

Used my trusted canna nutes, they got canna terra vega at 2ml/litre which is somewhere in the region of 1/3 strength. They took around 1 litre of water each. Seems to have done them good :)

Edit - Mine are 14 days old now :peace:

Sweet great info mate!

I'm guna feed them their 1st batch of nutes a week after I transfer them to the 10 litre pots. I'm going to be do that tomorrow night so I'll let you know how that goes :)

I didn't manage to go to the shop today to get my nutes and medium but I'm doing that tomorrow now also!

What nutrients have you got in mind mate?

I have to highly recommend canna soil and nutes. For soil the professional is better than the professional plus :) Mix in a bit of perlite for extra drainage and you are dandy :)
