Musiks' first grow/ bagseed 2009

Been 5 days, watching for gender.....Oh no, its a bird...its a plane...its a boy@#$$#^$$%

Ok, well my first boy showed his true nutsack. I wanted to post a couple pics of the "sacs" as I've seen them show. Let me know if you think this is for sure male, i've isolated it from the group today and ready to destroy.

Well the pictures looked much clearer in the camera than it does now, the battery died so thats all i got.
What is significant about this plant is that it is a week older than the rest(first one finished germinating), and the sacs have turned from just a single nub, to a group of nubs like grapes.
None of the other plants' "sacs" look like grapes, so I am going to take him out. I'll destroy him tomorrow, I dont think he can pollinated quite yet but Im sure that is a male and no need to waste more time and energy on it. Plus I need the room.

Now I have other plants with "nubs", they just aren't groups of nubs yet, and a female preflower DOES NOT always show pistils. But a group of nubs is for sure a male.

I'd like to know from an experienced person if I should get rid of the male now. Im pretty sure its ok. Just don't want to accidentally destroy a female.

Anyhow enough from me, wish i had more(camera battery died after 2 pics).

Musik in my limited experience there will be no mistaking your males. I can not tell from your pictures but the first one looks like a male but can not be sure. Once you see those sacks they start to multiply pretty fast and there will be no question of the sex. You do have some time but as soon as you are sure I would get them out of there.

Thanks for the response Sonzor, I feel a little paranoid kinda, like i dont know what to do, even tho deep down i know what to do. Its just my first time you know?
Anyways, I'm pretty sure its a male, the pictures weren't very clear at all and there is not just one nub in those photos' its a group of nubs, or grapes or balls or sac's LOL

I have a question tho, I took that male - plant out of a 5 gallon bucket, can I just move a plant in its place, it had its own reservoir of water, or do I need to change the water, Honestly in my opinion it shouldn't matter unless the remaining water is infected from the male plant??
To point out I have had no issues with the water in reservoirs yet,I have not changed the water once but I monitor the PH and PPM daily, and there is no port-o-potty smell yet.
So can I just use the same water in the 5 gallon pale that the male plant was in, I really just want to take the male out and move another plant in its place, but then the roots would be in a new reservoir, where the old plant is.
1 female moved to where the male was. My 1 female is in a reservoir that is shared by 2 plants and I want the female in its own 5 gallon bucket.

I am really new to this hydro thing, but you would probably be alright putting the new plant in. But if it was, I would change it out. Why not, it certainly is not going to hurt.

Thanks for stopping by CharlieMopps,
I have had some computer issues and unfortunately I already killed him. He was definately a male. According to the in-person confirmation from one of my growing buddies.

Here are some Pics.

They are so tall. I haven't seen much change in growth besides they are taller, and the new nodes on the plants are growing uneven.

Sorry to hear about you male. Its better off where it is. Good luck with the rest of your grow. I am sure it will be very successful.

Oh guys, sorry i haven't been around, been looking for a job doing interviews, filling out applications. In the meantime the camera that I was using is no longer available. I am trying to get a phone so everyone can see updates.
Good news and bad news.

First off the good news is that I have more than 1 female and the buds are just starting to form. So I hope they dont turn out to be hermaphrodite or bad or ruderalis. :)

Secondly for the bad news, out of the 8 that I sprouted 5 turned out to be male. Which isn't that bad. Bagseed...40% almost half...learned a bunch...and Am plotting the next batch. I"ll probably only do 5 seed at a time from here on out, my next plan is to learn cloning. I wanna take some clones from one of the plants but I am not sure if It is too far along in flowering to veg.

I wish I had photos and a movie for y'all, the 3 i have left are doing great. Oh and I forgot to mention I had a plant growing soooo fast that it was taller than the light at one point, so I chopped it, ( I wanted to cloned the top so bad, but unfortunately I couldn't) then there was 4 tops that grew sooooo fast, those four were as tall as the light, (this plant must have been sativa, if I had not cut the top off, then it would definately have hit the ceiling by now) well the four were sooooo tall sooo fast I decided to bring them to the top of the "canopy", (about now if you look straight down you can't see anything, and the leaves have formed a kind of "blanket" not much light makes it below this 'blanket' any more) So I supercropped the 4 tops bringing them to canopy level, and 2 of them have fallen between the plants, thinking of a way to hold them up, and 2 are being held up by other plants, which i made sure there was enough light making it to that plants tops, and low and below these frickin branches have curled upward reaching for the light and are straight up now on the ends, well I figure this way my light will make it to more tops, lol i couldn't believe within hours there was a definate curve in the stalks i bent, soo fast they adapted.

Anyways wish i had more, thanks for stopping by, I have 3 females left and like I said they are starting to form definate buds now and I think i have about 6-7 weeks left before harvest. I also bought a 60x microscope intending on seeing the flowers and trichomes with and I think that is too much, you really need to have this thing almost touching the plant to see anything in focus and you are looking at some pretty small stuff, stuff i'd rather not know exists LOL

Good job on the females cant wait to see them. I also have a 60-100x microscope that really is not very practical for me when looking at my outdoor buds so I got a 30x Jewelers loop on EBAY for like 3 bucks free shipping and it works really well, very user friendly. You should check it out. Anyway great job and cant wait to see some pics..

Sorry its been awhile since i've updated, gosh almost a month. I've been busy trying to find a J-O-B in this terrible market, let alone I can't get ahold of a camera or video. Peeps are afraid to let me use their phones :passitleft:
So I'll describe as best I can what has happened in 20 or so days. If you look at the last video I was already into flowering, or at least I have the lights at 12/12 by this point.
Now, looking at the video, where the bottom of the light is....that is where the canopy resides at the present moment. I AM down to 2 plants. Out of 8 5 turned out male. Now there was one plant that was screaming for life....that plant is dead....it was touching the ceiling, a friend of mine told me I should get rid of it and focus my light on the remaining two plants. One plant had started to actually grow buds before the other plant...that plant also grew a few male flowers. I wanna say that the plant is hermie...but I think that I just had some light leaks or a little stress from an imbalance in salts or something...I actually pinched off all the male flowers that I could find....in 3 sessions....eyes just aren't what they used to be....and I went for the tiniest of male flowers to the biggest...which were obviously easier to spot....Now I have been looking for new male flowers......they were only about one level....or they were all around the same hieght on the plant....there were none on the top.....the new growth on the bottom does not seem to have them.....so I assume that there was a light leak or stressed out period that the plant had endured that caused it to grow a few dozen male flowers...that was about 4 days ago and I have not seen any more and the budz have gotten bigger, in fact its been just about a month in flower and the tops of the colas are starting to get that coney looking shape. The other plant is definately different...taller.....by like 3 inches....and is behind in flowering it seems....which is fine by me. I really wish that I had some photos....I think I have just a month or longer before harvest...All the female pistils are vibrant white, big and fluffy.....I can't wait for some fat budz...I hope the stalks can support them because I know one is going to have some fatty budz for sure...

Anyhow. When I do have a camera this is the first place that I'm going.

Sounds like you have some healthy little ladies and some good bud coming you way. Good luck and cant wait to see some pics +rep

Ok got a camera and as promised here is the best i could do video is working fine but i couldn't get the photo's small enough. Working on that but here is a new video. I have two plants left. One looks really good, all the buds are real frosty, that plant has sprouted a few male flowers. I keep picking them off. I know i'll get seed from it but as few as possible if i can help it. When these plants are done i'm gonna scrub the heck out of the closet and my room.
For now....

Thanks for stopping by Fuji :Rasta::yummy::grinjoint:

I know that there is a bit of a stretch with the one plant, I feel like it kinda forced me to. It seems to be able to get within inches of my light before needing it to be raised. Unfortunately that leaves my other plant(the frosty one) to be farther away as it surely isn't growing taller anymore. I am going to leave the light where it is for now, I only have 2 more inches of space. I have however put a couple boards under the pail of the frosty one to raise it up some.
I am thinking about the next round. And I am going to have to flower after the third node from now on. I waited until they were past 12 inches tall before putting them inflower. A friend told me, "As soon as you see the second set of leaves, consider that vegetation. Veg for 2 weeks and put in flowering, they most likely wont be 10 inches tall, that will help in keeping them shorter, I can successfully grow about 4 plants and get a good yield.
I was considering that this was Deep Water Culture but that is actually DWC + mist sprayers. And all I really have is a DWC.
I also want to mention that I have not changed the water once, only filled it up. I have a ppm meter and have been monitoring the Total Dissolved Salts. I have adjusted as best I can. My PH has stayed fairly constant around 6.0.

Anyhow I hope to have a few pics up soon.

Hey, I would stick your way, 12"+ in my opinion too, for a good strong healthy plant. Yes it can be done lower, but its all about timing, your friend obviously wants to cut down the time, and a bit of hight but getting them to flower as soon as possible. Now having it over 12" isnt a problem, as you can still control the height afterwards, but i just see it as good practise to have a strong plant that can hold those potentialy massive bud sites at the end!
